Kaida's POV
I didn’t even know when I drifted off. One minute, I was sitting by the door, and the next, I had dozed off.
It was the best short nap of my life. I wasn’t sure what woke me up, but I knew I’d woken just in time for Alpha Luther’s dinner.
“Oh, f**k,” I muttered, quickly standing up.
I glanced out the window—dark already. How did it get so late? Midnight always seemed to creep up on me.
I rushed to the bathroom, turned on the shower, and let the cool water flow down my body.
As I placed my hand on my belly, I whispered softly, “Mummy’s going to keep you safe, darling. I promise.”
It had been a while since I felt this happy, but I couldn't hide the fear a part of me still felt.
