Prologue
*Mature Language Alex Kellen. "Ah! f**k!" I normally don't have dreams. My sleep is usually peaceful and refreshing. But let me tell you what is not refreshing. It is being awoken to a bottle of artic-ice-cold water. My right hand automatically reached up to the ass-hole's neck while my other hand wiped the water from my face with the duvet. "Al...Alex! Please! Your mom asked me to do it! I couldn't disobey her; she will kill me!" A voice pleaded. "Oh yeah?” I raised an eyebrow, regarding the fellow who was slowly losing colour. “Too bad...because I'm going to shoot you now." "What?! No! Please!" "Oh, leave him be, Alex. I told him to do that." My mom's voice rang crystal clear from the speaker phone. "And what is your kind reason, mother?" My tone was sugar sweet, dripping with sarcasm. "Really? You're using that tone on me? Do you really want to make me mad on your birthday?" I really rather not. "Sorry mother." I sighed. "Much better. Happy Birthday my darling." "Thank you. You are the first one to wish me." I assured her. She didn’t need to know that I was lying. She snorted sarcastically. "Yeah, sure son. I really believed that. Anyway, come over tonight. Let's have dinner. Your sister Ally is coming too." I sighed, understanding that I wasn’t given a choice. "All right then, see you this evening." Once the line went dead, I pounced on Eden who had done the honours of emptying the freezing water on me. Maybe not really an honour. He ended up screaming, tripping over his feet to get away when I took out my gun. It was all fun. Fun for me, not him. Rolling my eyes, I got myself into a nice hot shower. There was a very important matter to take care of. Something I have been planning for two days now. Mike Trellivis. ------------------------------------- "You are sure the area is clean?” I asked him. “You have already been marked Eden. For this morning. One more screw up, I'm gonna feed your ass to the sharks while singing Happy Birthday." "Well, it is impossible to clean out the entire area. I mean we’re in the Central Park, brother. But I managed to clear out the area where Mike is." "Where is that son of a b***h?" I growled. "Screwing his w***e in the toilet." "Seriously?" Thomas snickered. "He chose a toilet in Central Park to have s*x?!" "He probably thought it was the safest to be in a public place right now." "C'mon then. Let's show him how mistaken he was." I allowed my trio to lead the way to dear Mike Trellivis. You see, my life is pretty straight forward. I'm a business man and have quite many legitimate family businesses to handle...and a few hobbies too. I have a close family. My brothers Eden, Thomas and Jeffrey and a close friend, Mike Trellivis. Well, he used to be a close friend until we found out Trellivis' real occupation. A spy implanted by my enemy, Carlous. It's fun having enemies. They're interesting and constantly keep me on my toes. But traitors? I cannot stand this kind of dirty tricks. "Is that the toilet?" I asked, walking towards the tiny building. Eden nodded. "Good. Go and prepare my special gift for that bastard. I shall go in and surprise his body out of his stinking skin." I said gleefully. Eden eyed me warily and muttered. “And you wonder why we call you the psycho brother.” I sent a glare in his direction but keep walking to where Mike was. It was very impressive the way he screamed when I tore his door apart. Although the sight of him on top of the w***e bent over the sink almost made me barf... Almost... I gave the girl a few minutes to get dressed and out of my sight. Didn't want to harm her you see...she was innocent. I might be a little psychotic but I still have morals. Then I dragged him out to tie him around a tree. Eden was waiting with my surprise kit. Making sure Mike's eyes were on me, I slowly took out its contents. A jar of corn syrup, knuckle ring and a gun with a silencer. I had picked these out of the torture chest specially for Mike, although the corn syrup was from the kitchen. Mike's face was red with fear as he eyed the syrup with confusion. I gave him a sweet smile and emptied the jar of syrup on his legs. The bastard was wearing summer shorts that made things easier. "Wha...what's this?" He was literally trembling. I held a finger to my lips. "Shhh... Patience my friend." A few minutes he began to yell in pain as ants covered his legs eagerly for the corn syrup. They were having the time of their lives and it made me so happy. But I wasn't satisfied yet. My hands were itching to hit him. So I did. With the knuckle ring. It was so satisfying to see his blood on my hands. The bastard grunted in pain as my fist slammed into his face. The sound was like music in my ears. Don't take me wrong. I don't like to hurt people. But weasels like Mike needs to be destroyed. It didn't help that he was a trusted buddy in my group. "P...p...please! I'm sorry Alex!" He begged, crying like a baby. I spared him a cold gaze. "It's Sir to you. And you should have known that I don’t forgive traitors." The coward began to whimper, knowing that he was going to die today. "P...please! I'll do anything!" A bitter laugh escaped me. "Really? You'd do any..." A loud gasp stopped me from bashing his teeth in. I whipped around to see a young woman with five toddlers standing beside a tree, staring at us from a few feet away. I took a deep breath, attempting to control my temper. It didn’t work. "I thought you had the place cleared?" I gritted to my trio. Jeff shot me an apologetic look. "Sorry boss...There was only three of us. We couldn't clear the entire park." "Damn you! Get him into the car, Jeff! Wash off the ants first. Thomas, make sure they don't talk. Eden, go and help him! I need to wash my hands off his filthy blood." I ordered. Eden passed me a bottle of water before leaving. I washed my hands quickly while keeping my eye on the group. The woman seemed to shake as the toddlers looked around in confusion. Sighing, I walked over to them. "How is it going?" I asked coolly as though they were talking about some movie. "Good." Thomas replied just as the woman turned around. I froze instantly, staring into her deep green eyes. Like emeralds. Her cheeks were flushed. Damn she’s pretty. "What the hell is going on?" She snapped. I was taken aback. Literally. I expected fear...maybe confusion but certainly not anger. Besides no one dares to take that tone with me. With the exception of my mother, of course. The pretty brunette rambled on, not realizing that the gun underneath my jacket can silence her permanently. "I'm here on a school outing with my students. See, we have approval." She held out a piece of paper. "Then I see you people beating up a man and now you are threatening me to keep my mouth shut?!" Eden and Thomas glanced at me uneasily. They knew the consequences of using such tone on me. "Look here, lady..." Thomas started. "My name is May Daniels." She glared. "Okay Miss Daniels." I interrupted. "You just have to ignore whatever you saw, and you can go back with the kids. It's nothing much." I shrugged. “Oh and we will need to check your phone to make sure to didn’t record anything.” I held out my hand. She stared at my hand incredulously and then at my face as though I had two heads with top hats. It was hard for me to not stare right back at her. "What are going to do with that guy?" "It's none of your business, lady." Thomas snapped, taking a step forward. I raised my hand to stop him. May opened her mouth to retort, but one of the kids interrupted her. "Miss Daniels? Can we go back now? I’m scared." May smiled at the child who was almost shivering. "Of course, Marianne. The driver will be coming to get us soon, okay?" The child nodded timidly before looking at me with wide eyes. The lady turned to me, her anger deflated. "Can I go now? I promise, I will just ignore whatever I saw." She asked quietly. "You're scaring the kids.” She added. I wanted to laugh. She just saw us beating up a man and we were standing right in front of her with guns tucked under our jackets. But that didn't seem to bother her. The fear of the kid though, bothered her…so interesting... I nodded, motioning the guys to take her phone. She frowned but gave in. I watched her walk away with the children tucked close to her body. “May Daniels...” I smiled as her name rolled off my tongue easily. "You're one feisty woman..." I whispered. "I'm surprised you let her walk away so easily, brother." Eden commented as we walked towards the parking lot. "I didn't. Get me her details. Every single thing you can find about her. I want it by this evening. And her phone.” "Yes, boss." He nodded towards his car. "About that Mike?" "Just kill him and get rid of the body. I'm not in the mood anymore." I muttered, getting into my own car. I was still thinking of her, wondering if she was seeing anyone. "So, are you going for the birthday dinner at your mom's place now? Might wanna change those clothes first." Eden yelled, jogging towards his own car. I sighed at the reminder. Eden was beginning to get on my nerves. I shot him a glare that made him cower. "I want her details right after the dinner or you will be short of one hand." "Yes sir." My Birthday? ... Damn!
