Scarlet woke with a start, sitting upright in her bed before she was even completely awake with her heart pounding fearfully in her chest. Ripley was sitting next to her a moment later.
“What’s wrong, Pixie?”
“Borders near my tree; danger. Warn everyone, now!” She muttered, leaping out of bed in an instant and pulling on clothes. “Get the children, mothers and old wolves to safety.” She urged him and she saw his eyes glaze over while he sent out the warning. “Dad!” She called out loudly and her father came rushing into her room a moment later, his hair a mess and looking slightly bedraggled, but awake.
