Ripley was pissed off that Scarlet had not stayed in the safe house like he had hoped, but he was grateful for the armour that would hopefully help to protect his warriors against the silver bullets that the PHS were packing.
He wanted to keep her safe, but it seemed she was trying to do the same, and though his protective instincts were running riot, he also knew that she probably felt the same. He had been entirely surprised when she had confessed her love to him just before they would face an enemy and he was annoyed that it had happened now, because he would have loved to make love to her after saying it back to her, but here they were; going to war.
