ARTICLE ABOUT THE FIRE

616 Words
After gathering myself up, I shook off all my thoughts regarding him as I knew he couldn’t be there, ordered coffee, and took my laptop to start working, as there were already many emails and messages. It was also good to work, as drowning myself at work helps me. This is the way I have lived for the past 5 years. I started reading all the emails and replying to them one by one. There was one email from my boss, and it was about the fire in Shimla during a circus performance, where a very influential retired high-rank military officer was present with his family. I called my boss and got my new assignment. I have to write an article on the incident and that should include the retired Army officer, Brigadier Baldav Singh, interview. I started my assignment by gathering information about the brigadier. His first wife, Mrs Shardha Singh, died many years ago, and they had a son. Later, he married his second wife, Mrs Kavita Singh, who gave birth to another son for him. Both his sons joined the Army and a few years ago his younger son died. His elder son resigned from the army and in the last five years has become one of the most successful businessmen. So now he has his wife, his elder son, Mr Adhiraj Singh, his daughter-in-law, Mrs Shikha Singh and his grandson Kabir in his family. That day he came to the show with his son, his daughter-in-law and his grandson. I wanted to do more research on the family, but my boss’s phone interrupted my search. I picked up the call, and she informed me that she had fixed the interview. I had to reach the given address sharp, at 10 am tomorrow, and I had only 15 minutes. I took my notepad and started to frame my questionnaire. I have to get as much information as possible in 15 minutes, so questions must be short and direct. I need more information about everyone in this family. I tried to search, but there was not much information about them, especially about Adhiraj Singh. Not a single photograph of him was available. I gathered all the information that I could and framed my questionnaire. After discussing all the details with my boss, we concluded that I had to include questions about Mr Adhiraj Singh. It was around 9 o’clock when, finally, I finished my work, closed my laptop, and ordered dinner. I was in no mood to go out for dinner. After dinner, I lay on the bed. I thought I would fall asleep, but it’s almost an hour, and I am still trying to get some sleep. I don’t understand why I am so restless today. Something seems to be not right. I have interviewed many famous personalities as part of my job. I have always been confident it is nothing new, but still, I can’t point out why I feel so uneasy. Maybe it’s because of the nightmare. I have to get hold of myself. I can’t make any mistakes tomorrow. I have to keep my personal and professional lives separate. I got out of bed to drink water and calm myself. I have to get up early tomorrow. I rechecked the things in my bag that I would require tomorrow. Finally, after the alarm was set, I went to bed. Reassuring myself, Jiya, this is not your first interview. Why so uneasy and nervous? It was already 1 o’clock, and I was still up. Once again, I went to bed hoping to get some sleep. I don’t know when sleep took over me. The alarm woke me up. It was 7.
