At Last, A Divorce
"Sign it. After the divorce, I won't file a lawsuit against you. I'll even give you another two hundred million dollars and divide your studio so you can own it independently. The one in the center of the city comes next. Its voice was deep, sweet, and cold. Isabella Jeannet had to cover her mouth with her palm because she couldn't stop laughing. Her almond-shaped eyes reflected a lot of zeroes.
As she carefully read the divorce agreement, she counted zeroes. On the tall man across the office desk, his handsome, noble brows were furrowed. His eyes were lustrous and black, and they radiated a coldness. He saw Isabella droop her head in fear and cover her mouth.
His heart grew even colder. If Alexander Quirk had known what was going to happen, he would never have tolerated it in the first place. He considered Isabella to be a pitiful and disgusting woman. Despite being lifelong friends with the Quirk family, her parents passed away before she reached adulthood. On a dying wish, Isabella was adopted by the Quirk family. Unexpectedly, she betrayed their kindness by planning to marry him.
Alexander was perplexed. Is this the voice of Isabella? Isabella's voice was so full of enthusiasm and delight that Alexander had hardly ever heard it before. He looked up because, for a moment, he was uncertain. But all he could see was Isabella's ferocious face as she prepared to write. He was unable to determine if that face was one of delight or rage. Hold on, she remained silent. He never lived in peace after that.
He was tormented without cause and aggressively followed. She turned his life into a whole wreck. She even stole firm secrets a while back and gave them to a competitor, costing them a significant project. The entire organization became resentful as a result. He had to divorce her in order to please the board members."I've been really kind and generous. You should know when to quit, I hope. Alexander wouldn't have been lenient toward her if it weren't for her parents' passing. He first believed Isabella would fiercely oppose the divorce, even going so far as to commit suicide.
But suddenly she grabbed up the pen with a tremble. Alexander let out a little sigh of relief when he saw it. He believed Isabella stopped resisting after realizing that what she was doing at the moment had gone too far. At long last, a divorce—“Hooray! I can finally obtain a divorce! Suddenly, he heard Isabella's voice."Outstanding! Two hundred million! Just think of all the properties I could purchase and all the young guys I could have who looked innocent.
My beloved ex-husband is so amazing! He is really giving! Isabella's voice echoed once again, but this time it wasn't in the air. There was a little movement in Alexander's deep-set, graceful eyes. He was certain Isabella hadn't spoken anything, but he had heard her voice. What's happening? Alexander was usually calm and sensible.
He looked at his secretary, Hannah Gates. Hannah was looking at the divorce decree in Isabella's hand at that same time. Hannah saw his eyes and instantly expressed "sympathy" as though regretting the route the pair had traveled to get there. This time, Ms. Jeannet, you've truly gotten Mr. Alexander into a lot of difficulty. After you depart, I hope you can start over and stay away from Hannah scowled and gave serious advice. In her heart, though, she was anxiously counting down the seconds before Isabella's anticipated commotion. Isabella would blow up at the first sign of trouble, after all.
She could have to quit the marriage with nothing if Alexander didn't provide her hefty recompense once she began to complain. Hannah believed that a good guy like Alexander should not give Isabella any special treatment. But Isabella just gave her a short glance before hastily writing her signature, perhaps in a hurry to reincarnate.Alexander didn't want to consider Hannah's peculiar behavior any more.
What mattered was that Hannah was unable to hear the voice in his brain!"Being forced to shoulder the responsibility irritates me. However, I guess I'll let the offender off the hook because the divorce went well and I was able to get such a large payout. Isabella's voice echoed in Alexander's head once again. Alexander's motions tightened for a moment as he took the divorce agreement Isabella threw at him. In the depths of his unfathomable eyes, a storm appeared to sweep across them.
What? Did she accept responsibility? Is she not at fault? Alexander was smacked with a new piece of knowledge before he could get over the shock of hearing that. Isabella purposefully caused difficulty to attract his attention, which ultimately led to a massive catastrophe, but it turned out that this was not because she was unhappy with his lack of interest in her.It was evident to everybody that she was the only person in the CEO's office at that time. Additionally, she was photographed by several individuals at a private meeting with the vice president of a competitor firm.
The evidence might be considered indisputable. She first acted frantically and made a fuss throughout their standoff, refusing to acknowledge it. Eventually, she became so angry that she yelled, "Assume it was me since you don't believe me! How could you possibly harm me?He believed that Isabella was becoming irritable due to humiliation and being exposed. In hindsight, she appeared to be behaving rashly out of desperation.
As she saw Alexander pause and not reach for the pen, Hannah's normally calm and collected voice took on a note of urgency as she stated, "Mr. Alexander, it's time to sign." Alexander thought for a moment that Hannah was going too far after hearing it. He could not help but feel a twinge of hatred at what Isabella's voice had stated about the offender earlier. Hannah was a classmate in university. They have a long history together and a deep understanding of one another. He had so much faith in her. However, by doing so, she betrayed the firm.Alexander's eyes changed expression.
Hannah had already passed the pen over with increasing frustration at that point. She was aware that despite his seeming coldness and distance, Alexander was actually incredibly responsible. He had a kind heart and was very protective of his family. Otherwise, he wouldn't have spent so much time involved with Isabella. Isabella's sobbing cries, outbursts, and suicide threats had prevented the couple's previous near-divorce experiences. Hannah had finally succeeded in getting Isabella to sign the divorce documents at that point. Hannah therefore want to avoid problems on Alexander's end.
Someone's growing impatient. Tsk, tsk, tsk. Isabella's words resurfaced in Alexander's thoughts, "I bet Ms. Gates is feeling uneasy, afraid all her previous efforts would go to waste."Alexander's eyes changed expression. He twisted his wrist and used his thin hand to force the black pen down on the table. Isabella and Hannah were both slightly surprised by that gesture. Alexander's dark eyes were fixed on Isabella, who was unable to quickly hide her gossipy face.
"This is my final request of you. Were you the one who actually did this? He was constantly wary. In addition to implying that he had falsely accused someone, if what he had heard in his head were accurate, the firm may be at irreparable peril. So he needed to confirm it. Hannah's expression suddenly became tense, yet she remained calm. Isabella couldn't establish her innocence, after all.Isabella was a little uncomfortable in Alexander's stifling stare.
Isabella's voice whispered in his head again. By that, what does he mean? Is the reason he is asking me this question now that he no longer wants to offer me those two hundred million dollars? He can't possibly be reconsidering now! Is it not possible for him to just sign the documents before making any inquiries? Alexander looked at Isabella with a knot in his heart, as though he was yearning for a response.Alexander could hear Isabella's eyes darting about in frustration as she couldn't help but complain in her head. Naturally, I didn't do it.
The fact that everyone else is blind is not my responsibility! The employees outside the CEO's office simply ignored the fact that Ms. Gates obviously came and exited from the office following my visit. They didn't even look at the CCTV tape when questioned about any questionable people. As though I were guilty, they started pointing fingers at me right away. Traditional prejudice in action.Alexander was suddenly shocked! Did anyone else enter my workplace on those days but Isabella? Isabella was then directly implicated by physical evidence and eyewitness reports. I guess that's why nobody else looked at the security footage.
Unconsciously, I've also always believed Isabella was the kind of person who would use such devious tactics, so I didn't— He was going to say anything when Isabella abruptly said, "I have nothing to say," in a chilly tone. Simply sign it now. Alexander's look grew more icier. He was baffled by Isabella's decision to keep quiet when she knew the truth. Is she worried that I won't trust what she says? Keeping those ideas in mind, Alexander got to his feet suddenly.Hannah, standing distantly, gave Alexander a startled glance. Alexander just had to look at her once to startle her. Hannah unconsciously shuddered at the examining stare.
Alexander took a few long steps and left before Hannah could respond. He walked by Isabella, who was unaware of what was happening, and said in a deep voice, "Follow me!" "What's happening?" Isabella was very perplexed. Opening the door, Alexander spoke to the rushing servants beyond. "Get the security footage that was recorded on the night of the eleventh! Let Mrs. Quirk check to verify if she was the only one that entered and exited that evening, since she is hesitant to comply! Hannah, who was just behind him, went pale at the sound of it. "Mr. Alexander!" Isabella was perplexed. What? I said that when? This was obviously something I was willing to do!
