Harland's Story:
Deacon
A bright blinding light filled the field, making me and my brothers look away. When it faded away a small woman remained, standing in the middle of the field looking around, lost, and confused. We are here waiting for the Croten to arrive. We got some information from our splintered Oracle we were not expecting to find their motive in the form of a small woman.
“Do you see her too?”
“I do, brother. Who is she?” Vorigan said, leaning in, trying to get a better look at her.
Vorigan and I watched.
She started looking around frantically, clearly unaware of her surroundings, making her more intriguing.
“They are here, brother.”
I looked at Vorigan and then back to the woman who is now surrounded by the Croten. My brothers already jumping into action slowly making their ways towards the enemy.
“I will get the women alive, kill the Croten and collect their essences.”
“Okay.” Vorigan agreed and jumped from the wall, joining the others.
“NOW!” I yelled, signaling my brothers to attack.
I glided down to the ground and then I ran towards the women, cutting down any Croten that got in my way. Once I am by her side, I realize she is human. We have not had a human here for the last four hundred years. It is explained why so many Croten were sent for her. I turned and looked down at her. She looked up, letting me see the fear consuming every portion of her body.
“She comes with us.”
As soon as the words left my lips, she took off running. She is faster than I expected, but not fast enough to escape any of us. I looked over at my brother Viktor and smiled.
“We will meet you at home, brother.” Harland laughed.
“Good hunting.” Damian laughed before shifting into his wolf form with Viktor. I watched them run off into the woods as the rest of my brothers transporting themselves home in a flash of light.
Once they are all gone, I turned my attention back to the small human women. She is further away than I expected surprising me again. I smiled to myself and started running in her direction. Catching up to her is easy and overpowering her will be easier. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her into my body. She began struggling and fighting, which made me laugh a little more. I leaned down a little to keep my hold tight.
“Do not run from me again.” I growled it into her ear. Her body stilled and the smell of fear radiated off of her.
I stood up and let her go, turning her around and throwing her over my shoulder before transporting us to my home. I sat her down carefully and turned to my brothers.
“I am taking her to see King Kachelsis...”
They all nodded in agreement, looking around me to the women. I grabbed her arm and led her upstairs to King Kachelsis room. I knocked and took a step back, keeping my hand wrapped around her arm. She ran once already she will do it again.
“Enter.”
I placed my hand to the knob and turned it, shoving the door open. Kachelsis looked up at us and then he focused on the women.
“What is she?”
“Human.”
Kachelsis stood up and walked around the desk straight up to her. He leaned down taking a deep breath and then he pulled away with a surprised expression. Not something you see every day when it comes to our fearless leader.
“It can’t be.”
“That is what we thought.”
“That is explains the amount of Croten. King Avden wants her.”
“I thought the same.”
“She must stay here. Deacon do not let her out of your sight do you understand me?”
“Yes, my lord.”
“I need to call on the splintered Oracle.”
I nodded my head and turned to grab the woman's arm. She retracted from me and took off running again.
“Grab her!” King Kachelsis yelled.
I took off running after her, seeing Vorigan stepping out of the primary room. He tried grabbing her but failed she went out the front door and towards the other end of the yard.
I let out an aggravated breath before transporting myself and materializing in front of her. I can see it in her eyes, she does not plan on stopping.
I love a good challenge. An enormous smile spread across my face, knowing she is about to run again. She got to one wall and began climbing the vines to the very top, and then she slung herself over the other side.
“She is over the wall!” I called out to my brothers.
Once I got over the wall, I saw her laying on the snow-covered grass. She is trying to get up, but her body is rejecting her every attempt. She laid her head down and her breathing slowed. I need to get her inside and warm now. I ran to her and scooped her into my arms pulling her close to my chest hoping my body heat will warm her a little until I can get her into a warm bed.
“Why did you have to run like that?”
I asked but did not want any kind of reply. I am angry, beyond angry. She ran again after I told her not to and she put herself in a lot of danger going over the wall like that in the clothing she has on. It is cold here, and she will become sick. I ran back to the house to find my brothers all standing at the entrance waiting. They looked down at her with relief and amazement.
We have not seen one of her kind in an awfully long time.
She needs to be cherished and protected.
“I will bring some soup and hot tea down for her.” Harland said.
“Thank you, brother.”
Harland looks like a savage man with no regards to anyone else safety, but he is the total opposite. He is a kind man, and he will protect anyone he cares for with everything he has. I took her downstairs into my room and opened it with my mind. I am done trying to shield her from the dangers she faces. I took her straight into the washroom for a hot shower. Her body needs to be warmed. I sat her on her feet, keeping my arm wrapped around her waist as I turned the water. Once the water is on, I turned back to her and undressed her and my shirt. I held her close to my chest, stepping into the shower. I blocked her from the hot spray until she becomes accustom to the heat. Once she is good, I turned her around letting the water run over her fully. I took a deep breath of relief seeing her responding to the warmth, she needs to be cherished and healthy until her mate is revealed.
