“Have you seen my necklace?” I looked at my confused mother.
“Oh, that necklace I saw last time?” She asked.
I nodded at her while I’m still touching my neck, due to the accident I hope it didn’t rip.
“I didn’t really notice that sweetheart since I was more focused on your health,” She stated while touching my cheek.
I nodded at her and sighed. We both looked in the door’s direction when it swung open and two-person showed up. Melinda and the other is our personal doctor.
“Cesar! She’s awake thanks god check her please” My mom promptly directed right after she saw Cesar. I saw Cesar smiling at me as he said he was happy seeing me recovering slowly by slowly.
“I was unconscious for two months?” I asked. And I couldn’t believe that I was on that for so long.
“Yes, young lady, good thing you didn’t get severe internal bleeding or fatal damage due to the car crashing,” He stated in a serious tone as he was checking the condition of my breathing.
“Though, Whiplash and severe bruises got you bad,” He stated.
"But why I wasn't conscious for two months?" I asked confusingly, if my case wasn't really that serious then why?...
"It's due to the impact you got, young lady, and your body just shut down and became unresponsive for months which prolonged your state of unconsciousness," Dr. Cesar added.
I let out a heavy breath as I listened to him, while Melinda on the other side and my mother were attentively looking back at me and the doctor. Our personal doctor was named Cesar Carlton, he have been working for us since I was a kid but I just seldom see him then.
I looked at my bruises and I could see that it was slowly recovering and the other parts of my body had a bruise that was already healed, maybe because I was just lying here unconsciously for so long that the wounds and bruises on my body I got, was getting back to normal.
I feel so exhausted, I drank a glass of water right after I opened my eyes but I couldn’t move my body totally, I feel in pain inside, my head is still throbbing so bad and dizzy.
“I see that you’re still regaining your energy, you have to rest, you can’t force your body to move,” Doctor Cesar said as he list something on his clipboard.
“Madame, she needs enough rest and just after several days, she’ll be back to normal,” He bowed at my mom.
My mother nodded after Dr. Cesar assured me about my getting better condition before he dismissed him and only my mom and Melinda who has been quiet on the corner were there.
“Melinda, prepare a healthy soup for your young lady,” She ordered without looking at Melinda while she strode toward me. Melinda immediately nodded and left the room.
“Your dad will be here any minute from now to see you, sweetheart,” My mom muttered and held my both hands.
My mom told me everything when I was gone, and then I also missed my classes because I got into an accident right before they started. It’s fine anyway. I was silent for a moment before something crossed my mind. My eyes widens as I looked at my mother.
She was looking at me questioningly as she saw my expression.
“M-mom, how about my driver? Shawn!?” I asked in panicky, we were together when that happened!...
“Mom! Come one! What happened to him!?” I asked and my voice slightly increased.
“Calm down, sweetheart,” My mom said as she looked at me, I was in teary eyes and began crying.
Stupid Karina! It was your fault!... if you just behave that time then maybe it didn’t happen. I was so guilty for my careless and irrational move.
“He’s actually okay, he just got mild wounds and he gets recovered just after a week unlike you,” She stated while looking at me, I could see the anger in her eyes.
“I fired him.” She firmly announced and paused before she shook her head. “Your dad was so mad when he figured out what had happened, I know you know how cold and strict your dad was but it’s the usual him but he loves you so much,” She added.
My eyes still pouring tears nonstop. I shook my head as I cried.
“I’m s-sorry, It was my fault---” I didn’t finish what I have to say because she cut me off shortly.
“NO! it’s your driver’s fault because he let you!” My mom snapped at me stubbornly.
I shook my head, no mom, it’s me.
“I’m at fault mom! You shouldn’t have fired him because it was my fault!” I cried.
I’m a mess!... I dragged him into the situation. What if Shawn needs his job badly and I just took it away from him,
“Can’t you see Cassidy?! You almost die because of that! Do you think we’ll take that, that easy?!”
Now her voice turns mad and sad at the same time.
“It was your life at stake!” She cried. “You’re our only daughter sweetheart, we can’t… we just can’t bear it,” She mumbled weakly.
“I’m sorry, mom,” I whispered.
I was bringing so much trouble and headache I guess. I hugged her.
We both turned to looked at Melinda who entered the room, she was carrying a tray of would where contain my soup that she made and a glance of milk. It’s noon as the heat of the sun touched the glass wall. My mom left me for a moment as she goes on the other corner, I didn’t follow her move since I was busy staring at the light outside.
“Place that here Melinda,” I heard mom said. When I glance at her I saw that she’s carrying a boquet of sunflower.
“By the way sweetheart, these lovely flowers came from someone,” My mom muttered as she made her way near me.
I smiled as she handed it to me, Sun…
“From whom?’’ I asked as I stared at the fresh sunflower,
“Well, that’s from Viel, he always brought you sunflowers ever time he visited,” She informed while smiling.
“He’s really a good man, he’s probably very worried when he heard that you got into an accident…I know you two get along with each other like brother and sister,” She stated and smiled at me.
My smile fade when I heard her said that, brother huh?... She’s still into that thing.
“Come on, you must be hungry… you have to eat,” She thought and get the flowers on my hands.
I nodded without saying anything as I watched her get the tray of food for me.
“Melinda,” My mom called Melinda who was arranging the flowers on the vase that she brought earlier.
“Yes, Madame?” She politely asked.
“Tell the cook to prepare some food, ‘cause her friends will going here later… That’s Crisha and Simon, right? I forgot the other’s…” She said and asked looking at Melinda.
Melinda nodded and once again he left the room.
After I ate the soup that Melinda prepared for me, my mom forced me to rest and sleep, she was so attentive while asking me how I’m feeling or if I need something and all…
I couldn’t do anything but sleep after I take the medicine that doctor Cesar recommended for my fast recovery and also as a pain reliever. Though I was afraid thinking that I would close my eyes and the thought that I would be trapped again in the eerie darkness made me scared. But seeing my mom’s smile telling me that everything will be fine makes me feel relief.
I don’t know how long I had been in a deep sleep when I heard murmurs and whispers.
“How is she Alora? What did Cesar say about her condition?”
I heard the firm voice of my dad coming from the corner.
I was already awake but I didn’t open my eyes yet, I’m observing my surrounding, even though I couldn’t see them I could feel that they are watching me. That’s one of our senses though, could feel. We don’t just have 6 senses anyway, there’s a lot more but maybe those 6 were the most familiar and common so that’s why.
“She’s now stable, Hebron, I’m so happy… she’s back,’’ I heard the faint voice of my mother.
“Come on Alora, stop crying you should be smiling because our daughter’s already awake,” My dad said.
“I’m gonna get her a personal bodyguard,” He added, Oh no! I don’t think that’s a good idea and I hate having one!
that’s when I opened my eyes.
My parents immediately notice that I’m now awake ‘cause they were looking at me, my mom hurried to my side.
“Oh my god, Hi! Good evening sweetie, you overslept,” She said lively.
“Cassidy,”
I looked at my dad when he called my name, nothing changed, of course, he was still in his corporate office suit, the strict and hard façade of his aura was still the same, though, his eyes couldn’t deny that he’s happy seeing me awake and fine.
“Dad,” I mumble.
“I’m sorry…” I said as I looked down. I was truly sorry for what happened, and I was sorry for myself because it happened to me.
And before I could even react, I was enveloped by a warm and hard embrace from my dad. H trembled a bit and I could feel that he was controlling the emotions he was feeling right now.
My mom and my dad were always poise and collected, but I think I could break that with just one of my careless moves.
“You’ll have a personal bodyguard Cassidy, and you can’t change that,” My dad muttered with his low yet finality voice.
I sighed, I don’t think they will take no as an answer, and maybe having a personal bodyguard is my punishment for my careless move.
I sighed and slowly nodded, what can I do anyway? And besides, if I’m fully okay, I’m sure could just easily escape from that bodyguard that my dad is talking about anyway, so no worries.
Seriously KC? You’ve been in a stupid car accident and now it’s like you are planning for another one?!
My inner conscience spat at me.
“Yes sweetheart, I also want you to have one so somehow I could feel relief thinking that someone is there to look and protect you,” My mother stated while looking at me.
“And also, he’ll be your new driver, I’ll make sure that I will hire the most trained and stiff one so wouldn’t get swayed and fooled by you that easily,” My dad said harshly.
I pouted, why does it feel like everything is against me? That time I just really want to ride my car but it didn’t end up good, and now they’re hiring a personal bodyguard for me which I hate the most but I couldn’t refuse, I still don’t regain my full energy to be stubborn anyway.
r
My ears.
“What? I’m not doing anything dad---” I was cut off when I heard my mom’s phone ringing,
She immediately answered it without moving away.
“Hello Sonya?... oh yes, yes, I’m so thankful she’s now okay… thanks I appreciate that,” My mom said to the girl on the other line named Sonya, my mom was glancing at me while talking, that name was familiar, probably one of her friends.
“Oh, yes… sure, sure, bye see you then,” She said while smiling before she ended the call.
“Melinda is already preparing for your dinner Sweetheart since it’s already half past six in the evening,”
I nodded at my mom.
“I’ll just make a call,” My father muttered as he fished his phone in his pocket and dialed someone.
He took a few steps back but still enough to hear what he will say.
“Brandon, cancel all my appointments tomorrow and take charge of the new clients, understand?” He ordered.
After that, he ended the call.
I was just quiet and observing the both of them while they are busy talking and looking for the best agency that could offer the best of the best bodyguard according to my mom.
Earlier, she told me that good thing I didn’t get an ugly mark on my skin after the accident, despite all the wounds and bruises I’ve got.
After a couple of minutes, someone knock on the door and my dad was the one who opened it after he talked with Brandon on the phone.
“Madame, Sir, the young lady’s friends have arrived,” She announced.
After a minute Simon, Sandro, Mike, and Crisha showed up at the door and they were shocked while looking at me. Her handbag of Crisha even fell on the floor and she looked so surprised, well, they all looked surprised.
I see I think, they aren’t informed yet and Melinda didn’t tell them that I’m awake too.
I smiled and wave at the three shocking faces in front of me, as if on cue, Crisha burst out crying as she runs toward me and hug me so tight.
The three voice was slowly making their way into my bed, I didn’t think these guys were visiting me, I thought It was just Crisha and Simon, I didn’t know that her Cousins too.
“Oh god, KC! I miss you!” Crisha cried more while not letting go of me yet.
I chuckle, such a baby.
“I’m glad you’re awake now, damn we were so crazy worried about you,” Crisha said as she wipes her tears. I know, I could see the sadness in her eyes and at the same time, she was happy.
I let out a genuine smile as I looked at her and the three men standing in front of me and smiling at me. I’m still lucky to have the people who cared for me with sincerity.
