THE NEXT DAY, ALEX gets his hair properly, permanently done. He’s still pissed about it, but most of his emotions are focused elsewhere. He’s more worried about what Victor is doing to Liam, and what Victor is going to do to Alex before this is over. Because it’s definitely going to be over now. Zach is coming to an end, and Alex hardly recognizes himself in the mirror. He’ll get used to it eventually, just like everything else in life.
A week later he and Liam have the last scene they’re ever going to do together as Zach and James. Liam is quiet and small in a way he never is, tucked into his chair in a corner of the set with his feet up on the seat. Alex walks over to him and gets close enough into his bubble that Liam eventually has to look up at him.
