She looked up from beneath her lashes as she began picking at the pilled fabric of the worn blanket lying at the foot of the hospital bed. Trevor goggled at her while Nick continued to glare. Kori just looked confused. Kira shrugged. “It seemed innocent enough at the time…” Nick uttered a blistering string of curses that made Kori wince. Trevor gave him an impressed nod of approval. “Nothing that woman does is innocent,” Nick said once he had regained control of himself. “Or have you forgotten what happened back in that basement, where you almost got shot by her men—after she had you bugged, I might add?”
