19 “Kira?” Nick asked in a gentle voice. “Are you sure you’re OK?” She suddenly realized she hadn’t spoken for several moments. She took a deep breath and blinked her eyes clear. “I’m fine,” she said in a hoarse voice. She cleared her throat. “So what’s out on the terrace?” Nick shrugged. “Not much.” He slipped past Trevor to lead the way toward the open French door. Kira and Trevor followed. The exterior was sparse—a concrete enclosure with a waist-high barrier that overlooked the streets below.
