You could cut the air with a knife, it was that thick with the tension. Buck was staring blankly at the back of the office door, listening to the inner monologue of the battle. I was sitting across from him watching his expressions change from one minute to the next. Every now and then he would say what was happening to put me at ease but that was usually after I said his name out aloud or squeezed his hand. It was getting close to another reminder. "Our troops are lined up and ready, " he said. "They can see the wolves approaching."
