Gabriel was sitting on the window sill in my room, the window wide open. His eyes were resolutely staring up at the sky. His hands were fiddling with something and when I saw what it was, I paused for a second. I briefly wondered if I should have let Caroline come up here instead. If I shouldn’t have come up here as fast as I could after that disastrous dinner. Gabriel always raised complicated feelings within me. Feelings that were always contradictory.
