Cathy was snuggled tightly against Caleb on the couch as they watched a movie. He brought her to the packhouse after their date. They were both unwilling for the evening to end.
Her legs were over his and she rested her head on his shoulder. He was playing with her hair, and she felt herself get sleepy. She didn't want to ruin the moment, so she said nothing, she just closed her eyes. Caleb heard her breathing even out, and he knew she fell asleep. He smiled happily. He would sit in the same position the whole night, willingly, if it meant he could hold her a little while longer. But he knew the position she was in would become uncomfortable, so he moved her onto his lap gently, and then got up. He linked Cass to help him, and she met him in his room, opening the comforter for him. He laid Cathy down, then covered her. She was fast asleep. He took pajamas to the bathroom and changed into it. He rarely wore them. Being a werewolf meant his body heat kept him warm. He didn't think she would be comfortable if he slept next to her in his boxers.
He got into the bed next to her, and pulled her against him. She opened her eyes, smiled at him, then cuddled against him and went back to sleep. It didn't take long for sleep to take him too.
Cathy woke up the next morning, something tickling her ear. She felt an arm wrapped around her waist. Then she remembered the previous night and relaxed. Trying to get away from his body heat just a little, she moved her body. "If you want to get out of this bed today, please don't move against me like that" Caleb said against her ear. She stilled immediately. "Why?...Oh" she realized what he meant, blushing a deep red. He chuckled. "Five more minutes sweetheart, please?" he begged. She turned around, removing the cover from her upper body, then laid her head against his chest, wrapping her arm around his body. She felt him smile. She closed her eyes, letting the sound of his heartbeat lull her back to sleep.
When she woke up again, she was alone in the bed. She looked around, then heard the shower running. She looked at his room. She was in a king size bed. There were three doors. She knew one led to a bathroom, so one of the others had to be a closet, and an exit.
She heard the shower stop. He came out of the bathroom, a towel wrapped around his lower body. She averted her eyes, blushing again. "You are welcome to use my bathroom" he said "Cass brought some clothes for you". She smiled gratefully. She did feel wrinkled in the previous day's clothes. "Thank you" she replied, getting up. "Need some help washing your back?" he teased. She laughed. "I am a big girl, I can help myself" she winked, walking into the bathroom, closing the door.
She took a shower, using his body wash and shampoo. Drying off she noticed deodorant and a new toothbrush on a pile of woman's clothes. She dressed quickly. After brushing her teeth, she left the bathroom. Caleb was sitting on the foot of the bed, checking something on his phone. He looked up when she entered. He smiled "Come sit next to me". She sat next to him, and he started brushing out her hair for her. She felt oddly comforted and cared for. He finished. They quickly made the bed, before heading to the kitchen in search of breakfast.
Cass and Duncan was already seated, and when she entered with Caleb, she lifted her eyebrows suggestively at Cathy, smirking. Cathy felt herself blushing again. Caleb handed her a bowl of muesli and yoghurt, and she looked at him questioningly. "I saw you had a lot o muesli in your kitchen, I assumed it was your favourite. I didn't know what flavour yoghurt you liked though. I hope peach is okay" he answered. She got on her tiptoes and kissed his cheek. "It is perfect, thank you".
He took her to his study after they finished their breakfast. "This is where I am most of the time. You are welcome in here anytime. You don't even have to knock" he said, standing aside so that she could enter. She saw the huge bookcase against the wall and went to it immediately. Glancing over the titles, she saw a few by Stephen King she hasn't read yet. Stroking her finger down the spine of one, she looked at him. He was looking at her intently. "May I?" she asked. "Of course" he answered, taking his seat behind the desk. "I have a few things to finalize". She smiled, taking the book. She sat down on the couch and soon got lost in the book. Caleb watched her. He was falling head over heals in love with this woman. And it wasn't just because of the mate bond. She was kind, headstrong and funny. He was truly happy. He never thought he would find his mate. He gave up looking when he reached twenty five and still haven't found her. He was pressured by the council to take a chosen mate, but he fought them on it. He was adamant that if he couldn't have his fated mate, then he didn't want a mate at all. He was glad now that he didn't give in to their demand.
He switched on his laptop and searched for the reports from the spies. They reported nothing out of the ordinary. All of the neighbouring packs were unaware that he found his luna. That didn't bring him any closer to an answer as to who wanted to hurt Cathy.
Looking at her, he felt his wolf bristle at the idea of her being hurt. He would make sure that she stayed safe. She felt his eyes on her and looked up. "Everything okay?" she asked. "Yes, everything is fine" he said, closing his laptop. He rubbed his temples. When he opened his eyes, she was standing next to him. She rubbed his shoulders, his neck and his temples. He relaxed under her touch. "I could get used to this" he told her. She answered by planting a kiss on his forehead.
