Chapter 2 ; Meeting Duncan “At this rate that you are going, you will never find a mate!” “Try me, whatever it takes…. Is what I'm going to give, just watch!” Memories of the past flooded Dimitri’s mind. She had to win this bet, she just had to, or else… Well, luck wasn't definitely on her side, she lost. Dimitri’s heels clicked one step after the other as she made her way to the hefty bouncers standing by the door. They each looked like a bunch of burritos packed together. The big ones were exactly what she liked . “The bigger they areeeee…the bigger… they are!” She grinned playfully. “Invitation please!” they asked, their eyes hiding behind dark shades of eyeshadow. “Do you know what tonight is?” She asked, unbuttoning her shirt down just to stop at her cleavage. Just as expected, they looked down at her, not her face, but at the portion she had just unbuttoned. Just before her mastermind plan comes to fruition, Willow, her best friend, shows up. “Come on, you must be kidding me!” Willow pulls her inside the party whilst leaving the two bodyguards confused. “Do you really have to spoil the fun?” Dimitri whined. Willow disperses her whining, steps in front of her and starts to button up her shirt. “First you show up at the party, trying to lure a couple of hefty men not to sleep with them but to kill them??, and now not only do you show so much cleavage, you are dressed in the wrong attire. This is not a horror show, Dimitri!” Dimitri turns her gaze to the crowd before her. “A floral party on the night of a full moon? Who plans these things!” “He did!” Willow responded, averting her gaze to a tall frame man standing right above the entrance to the party. When they say distinguished, he didn't look like everyone else, he looked like the man he says he is. Different, athletic, fast and very charming, his jawline and shoulder-length hair packed in a bun has more effect than the full moon. Dimitri was drooling. “Who is that?” Dimitri's curiosity seeped like sap. “His name is Duncan…. Your future man!” Willow trails off as she leaves Dimitri and walks off to where Duncan was standing. “Okay, right now I am indeed not in the right attire!” Her heart raced as she tried to think of a far-fetched skimming solution. If only a miracle…. With a broad smile, Duncan walked up to Dimitri, who was already looking pale. If only she could disappear and find a fairy godmother to turn her into… “You are more beautiful than she described you to be!” Duncan says, immediately reaching Dimitri. Her eyes flared up, meeting up with his deep hazel eyes. “Your eyes remind me of something, somewhere I can't quite remember, but beautiful!” Dimitri responded, her face boiling red. “Alright, I will leave you two to talk!” Willow excuses the two blooming couples with a satisfying thought. “Atlas, A man to suit the very raging Dimitri!”. Willow always wondered why Dimitri was so desperate to get a mate. It never made sense to her. In fact, Willow knew that Dimitri wasn't always like this. It's like she just woke up one day and decided to be this obsessive. “You really aren't an alpha, are you?” Dimitri carefully let out the very question that had been biting her chest for the period of two minutes they had been exchanging meaningful, promising conversation. Dimitri’s undiggable hatred for Alphas makes her one who seems quite picky. Duncan pauses as he takes solace in Dimitri's eyes, his Adam's apple. Moving down slowly as he gulped the juicy wine down his throat. “You, Dimitri, are very different, I can tell. I can feel it!”. Did he just avoid her question?? Dimitri laughs it off, knowing exactly what this was all about, or let's say she knew what exactly he was doing. “Are you avoiding my question on purpose?” Dimitri confronted with a subtle smile that almost felt like a threat. Duncan smirks and gulps down the last juice in his wine glass. “Why don't I show you?” He responded, offering his hand out like a perfect gentleman. She hesitates for a bit, but eventually gives in.. I mean what could she lose from it? Not like she couldn't defend herself. She touches behind her waist to feel her self-defense caliber knife, just in case anyone moves mad. Gently, she places her hand in his, allowing Duncan to lead them out of the noise of the party. Silence moves between both of them till they reach the desired destination. “Dimitri, what do you think I am?” he asks. “Something!” He moved closer to her, and she stepped back, and they kept taking steps till Dimitri's back was up against the wall. This time a wicked smirk crawled on Duncan's face. It was his time to intimidate He takes her hand and places it on his chest. “Who do you think I am, Dimitri? "For you, I know you are something, preferably that which I want. "I know exactly what I want. "You aren't the only one with a preference!” His hand grazed over her bottom lip slightly, causing her skin to tremble. Dimitri knew this feeling except she couldn’t tell if it was out of fear or excitement. “Just tell me!” That demand came from the deepest part of her soul. His shoulders flexed as he closed the gap between them. “Look at me!” he commanded. His breathing dangled slightly on her exposed neck. Immediately, his eyes glowed so bright that she could tell the emotions he had buried beneath his cold eyes. A heap of relief descended on her. “A beta, thank Goodness!” She sighed. Dimitri removes herself from his lock and starts to head back to the party. “What are you?” He asks seriously, zooming in his attention on every part of her that might seem to move out of place in case she was lying. “Willow must have told you all that you need to hear!” “I would love to see for myself, Dimitri…please!” Not only is this man making her feel things, he is starting to get a hold of her. This is why she never wanted to be with an alpha. They lack simple morals, pride is what their blood is made of and, most annoyingly, they are always bloodthirsty. Her once gray eyes glow bright red, almost like a laser focused on a target. He walks up to her, his mouth agape, his hands itching to touch those eyes. Dimitri loses focus as his skin touches hers. Soon her eyes return to her beautiful doe eyes. “What are you doing?” She asks, almost melting at his touch. “They are beautiful!” She gulps down a lump of saliva in her throat. No one had ever told her that. Duncan leaned in for a kiss which she wasn't prepared for, but it was soft and quick, almost like a peck on her lips. A wave of electricity surged through her legs, her skin rose like pins on a dashboard. It wasn't familiar, yet it felt too good to be true. He acts almost like an alpha will act: Sensual, Possessive and Unavoidable. But he isn't one, neither does he manifest these characters full-blown. With no words to say, Dimitri runs off back into the party, unable to exchange words with Duncan. “What just happened?” She asks herself as she downs a glass of wine down her throat. Cold shivers still seared through her body as she replayed that moment. Her fingers gently caressing her bottom lip. “With that look on your face, I'm guessing something happened, uhm?” Willow appears out of nowhere. A broad, mischievous, playful smile chimes across her red lips. “Yeah, I have no idea, I just left him there standing all alone!” Dimitri blurted. Willow hurriedly takes a seat. “Something happened. What was it? Did he say anything… wait did he do anything?” Dimitri nodded the positive and negative at the same time. “I need some air!” She dropped her glass and hurried out of sight. “What is wrong with me?”
