Part One
Ava watched as her personal secretary hurried around the office setting lunch out on the coffee table between two couches as she chatted away. Ava Westbrook is a powerful CEO of Westbrook Incorporated she owned many hotels, resorts and restaurants and employed various people and creatures to work under her. She was also known for protecting and upholding the treaty among the realms as one of the alpha’s it was her duty. Her mind wandered off to the ball she was summoned to attend tonight a heavy feeling settling in the pit of her stomach thinking about it.
“You have to come tonight Ms. Westbrook. It’s the first time in centuries the wolves are hosting the full moon ball. I hear the King Alpha and Luna are going to make an announcement tonight as well. I wonder what it could be..” Evie continued on with her chatter excitedly.
Ava smiled fondly at the young woman she knew the real reason Evie wanted to go was to hopefully find her true mate. Be it human, werewolf, fae, dragon or any other creature. She leaned back in her chair stretching it took centuries for all the different species to come together and live mostly peacefully. Each race had their own royal family that held their species accountable for their actions. She knew all too well about the royal families. “Evie thank you for setting lunch out. Take the rest of the day to get yourself ready and I will see you Monday.”
“Oh thank you Ms. Westbrook!” She squealed. Ava chuckled as Evie’s fairy wings manifested from her glee. Ava’s crystal blue eyes glances over at the clock, a slight frown playing on her lips. “She’s late again.”
The heavy wooden doors to her office opened as if on cue as a petite woman with similar features waddled into her office. Her hand resting on her heavily pregnant belly. The young girl let out a relieved sigh as she sat on one of the couches. Ava caught a glimpse of two men standing guard outside her office as one of them closed the door. Ava stood from her desk walking towards the younger woman she gave a slight bow, “Your royal highness…”She said sweetly before flashing a grin at the girl “ you’re late.” She teased.
The young girl laughed as she waved off the bow, “Oh come on we grew up together you know I am always late sis!” She said grinning sweetly before turning her attention to the food laid out. “Awe you spoil me.” She said as she filled her plate.
Ava sunk down in one of the plush chairs across from her sister. “Only the best for my niece and nephew.” She poured herself a glass of wine before leaning back and crossing her legs, “Now here is the big question, Alexandria. Why are you here? You can barely walk and I am sure the Prince isn’t too keen on letting you out of his protection right now.” Ava said as she eyed her sister's large belly making a point.
Alexandria paused for a moment setting her plate down and sitting up straight holding her shoulders back looking like she had grown up royal. “I am here dear sister to make sure you come to the ball. Also you will be staying a few weeks with us as my guest.” Ava opened her mouth to protest but Alexandria sent her a glare daring her to interrupt. “You are to be the guest of me and Prince Marcus for the coronation of our new king.”
“Why would I want to be there for that? I have a pack and businesses to run to support our pack.” She caught her sister’s disappointment. Ava let out a soft sigh downing her drink quickly. “I will come when the pups are born but you know how I feel about that family. You found the only good honest wolf out of that family. He will make a wonderful king. But I just can't face them again.”
Alex shook her head, “But Marcus isn’t the new king. He isn’t first born, his brother Damian is to become king. He just returned from his travels and studies abroad." She gave her elder sister a begging look. “Please I want my only family there. You will have your own rooms right next to mine and you will still be able to work. Please Ava…” She begged. Ava felt a headache coming on and a growing pit of despair in her stomach but agreed to be there for her younger sister.
Several hours and one plane ride later Ava stood in the middle of her guest rooms in the palace. Her sister didn’t lie; she had several rooms to herself, a large master bedroom, a spa size bathroom, an office and a lounge room. One thing her sister conveniently left out was across the hall was the future king’s rooms. Thankfully he was not around when they arrived she didn’t feel like dealing with any royals. She wandered through her rooms with a glass of wine in hand. She spotted a formal dress hanging up for her in her bedroom “Sly b***h” she said softly to herself as she inspected the gown.
She had no doubt her sister designed it to fit her like a glove. The bodice was made of midnight black fabric with a lace up corset in the back. The bodice would hug her figure till her hips then fade to light grey down to the floor with a high slit on either side to her mid thigh. Ava ran her fingers over the fabric, a frown playing on her lips, doubt playing in her eyes that she could pull off the dress.
Ava was pulled from her thoughts as two ladies entered with their head bowed. "We are here to help you dress Alpa Ava. " one said meekly. Ava nodded to the girls she knew she would help lacing up the dress.
"All right, shall we begin then?" She asked as she headed to the ensuite bathroom for a quick shower to start getting ready. It was going to be a long night and she wasn't looking forward to the large crowd.
