Gwen lead her horse out of the stables.
" Going for a early morning ride?" a voice said behind her startling her. " I'm sorry I startled you." the voice sounding so calm said.
She turned and saw Kaz standing smiling at her.
" oh there's no need to worry, I just didn't see you there." she said and smiled. " So what brings you to the stables this morning prince?" she asked.
" I don't know but am glad I came princess." he answered her. He walked over to her and touched the horse's mane. " Do you mind if I ride with you?"
" No not at all."
" So when did learn how to ride?" Kaz asked her as they rode into the plain fields.
" Well, I had gotten on my first horse when I was six. I definitely did twist my ankle and couldn't walk for two weeks. Mother and father were so angry." she laughed.
" And that didn't stop little Gwen am sure."
"No it didn't. In fact I was really enthusiastic about it that I disturbed my parents every single day."
" That must have been a devastating time for them."
" It indeed was." she laughed a little " Mother got tired of me and begged my dad to teach me how to ride. When I was ten, my father got me a horse. This one." she patted her horse. " Mara named after Amara because she also had a hand in me getting the horse. I have been riding since then."
" You and Amara seem quite close. I have rarely seen siblings with such good relationship."
" We basically grew up together. We do have days when we don't get along but she is like a sister to me, she is a sister and I will do anything just to see her happy." She told him.
There was silence before Kaz finally spoke. " So you've been riding since you were young?" She nodded
" Then I guess you're really good at it."
" I would say I am trying my best."
" Well let's see what your best is."
" Is that a challenge prince?"
" It depends on how the princess takes it."
" Well.... I take it as a challenge." she says and starts riding. " See you at the stables prince." She called out laughing. The prince laughed and began riding too.
They both laughed as they walked the horses back to the stable.
" Would you like to have breakfast with me princess?" the prince asked
" I would be delighted to."
" So there is this dish we have here in Silveria. Rice and pork fat melted. I and my father don't like it but the rest of my family does. My father walked in all jolly and saw the bowl pig fat and dipped his hand into the whole thing, thinking it was butter and he took a spoon and took a spoonful and when he realized what it was...oh you should have seen his face." she told the prince laughing so hard.
" No" Kaz said laughing.
" Who drinks butter?" she asked laughing.
" People that love butter." he said
Gwen laughed so hard that she snorted. Immediately she realized she cover her mouth embrassed.
" I am very sorry, that was very unladylike."
" No need to apologise." he laughed.
A guard entered " My apologies Prince, Princess but the King of has requested for Prince Kaz."
" Tell him I will be right there."
The guard bowed and left.
" I am so sorry but I will have to go" he said apologetically.
" No need to worry, duty calls."
" I had a wonderful time." he said standing up and he stretched out his hand.
" I did too." she replied putting her hands on his and he kissed it.
" See you around then Princess."
" You too Prince"
He bowed and left.
" You have too tell me everything." Amara jumped on her sister the moment Gwen entered the room.
" Amara!" Gwen shrieked. " What exactly is there to tell you?"
" Well.....like what you both talked about, what he smelled like, how he touched you and looked at you; you know all the glorious details." She said joyfully.
" Since when did it become your duty to know about my dealings sister."
" Well since the day I became your sister. Hope you didn't bladder too much?" Amara asked her
" What do you mean by that?"
" Well you know, you talk quite a lot and you might have scared
him away with your mouth."
" If we are to fear that someone will scare him away with their mouth, then that person is you, sister. You have a mouth big enough to fit two horses."
Amara frowned a little but shaked it away and responded. " Enough about all that, what did you two talk about?" She waited eagerly for an answer.
Gwen signed in defeat as she sat on the chair.
" We talked about horses, childhood and ate breakfast together and shared jokes."
Amara looked disappointed.
"That's all?"
" Yes what more did you want to happen?"
" I was expecting more love."
" Sorry to disappoint you but I am just talking to the prince for the first time, I cannot fall in love. Besides you talked to him all night yesterday why can't you fall in love."
" There is something called love at first sight and no I cannot fall in love with him, he is not the type of man I want to get married to."
Gwen scoffed "Then how are you sure he is my type of man?"
" Because I see it Gwendolyn. I am a love expert."
Gwen laughed hard almost falling from the chair.
" We really need to get ready for sewing class with mother. You know she hates it when we are late." She said still laughing.
" I don't mind you laughing Gwen but one day you will see that I am right." Amara said as she left Gwen laughing in the room.
The Royal band played their music as people danced, drank, eat and laughed. The hall was full with laughter and people.
Amara, Gwen and queen Astrid walked in hand in hand.
" I wished things could continue like this mother. Every night will be full of dancing." Amara said giggling with happiness on seeing the hall.
" Sadly it all has to come to an end." Queen Astrid told her.
Prince Kaz walked towards them. " Your highness." he bowed.
They all curtised.
"May I have this dance?" he asked Amara. She nodded and they walked to the dance floor.
" Mother?" Gwen called as soon as they were alone.
" Um"
" You said the prince was here for business."
"Yes"
" But I heard that he was here in search of a wife. Why did you lie?"
The queen was silent for awhile before turning to her. " I didn't lie. Yes he is here in search of a wife but he is also here for business. They are considering opening trade route between the two kingdoms."
" Oh" she replied " So before the Prince leaves he will have to choose between......." she stopped realizing that if he was to choose a wife he would have to choose between her and Amara.
She turned to look at both of them as they danced. Her heart ached at the sight, the reason she didn't know. She already knew who he was going to choose. It was obvious and the answer hurt her.
