Kit's POV I was dragged by Beam and Pha to the bar in the city after our class. Pha said it was one of the moon candidate's birthday and as a senior and a previous title holder, he was invited. Beam and Kit, on the other hand, as a friend have to be his chaperone. Beam, as a social butterfly, was more than happy to oblige unlike me. As soon as I stepped in, my nose was attacked by an unwelcome smell of alcohol, cigarette and sweat. The bar was crowded, dark and smoky. The dance floor was thronged with drunk students, grinding their bodies against each other. There were couples making out, exploring each other's body, leaving no stone unturned. I don't get how people enjoy drinking till they get wasted and suffer a hangover the next day. It was beyond me. I was never the type to go to places like this, my idea of a perfect night is in my bed, under the blanket with my books sprawled everywhere and a serene music to complete a relaxing ambiance. I shouldn't have come here – well, it wasn't like they gave me a choice. Still, I should've acted sick or come up with petty excuse just to escape so I wouldn't be tortured like this. Too late for that now, Kit. Besides, Pha knew me so well that he tugged me, paid no heed to my questions. Before I knew it, I was in the backseat while he drove us to their idea of party. I was left alone, Beam disappeared as soon as we found a seat. Pha, on the other hand, went out to fetch Yo. He always treated Yo preciously as if he would break if he doesn't. He was very protective and possessive of him. The rest of the people in our long table were acquaintances, I barely talked after I greeted him. I would prefer not to talk, though. I wasn't in the mood for small conversations. A few moments later, much to my surprised, Pha came back, Yo tailing him hand in hand. He motioned him to sit next to his on their table. They were sitting so close. "Hello, Pha's wife! " I greeted him enthusiastically. He just smiled shyly. "Did you come alone? " I asked. "No, I came with a friend— Ming. " he answered. Ming is this year's university moon. I haven't met him yet because during the competition I was out doing some volunteering for additional points in one of my majors. I heard he was close with Yo. "Where is Ming? " Beam inquired. Out of nowhere he appeared. Beam is a social butterfly and he used to be a playboy until there was Forth. "He's coming here later, he was asked to sit with the group over there. " Yo pointed a group of girls in a far corner. "Hitting on some girls, huh. " Beam commented while looking at the table where Yo pointed. He then turned to me. "Kit, let's dance." "No, thanks! Where's Forth? " I asked to annoy him. I knew he would act annoyed whenever his name was mentioned. I find it strange that there was no Forth yet. Normally, wherever Beam goes, Forth goes too. "How would I know? " he rolled his eyes. "Because he's your boyfriend? " I teased. "Boyfriend my ass! " he cried out and left. I laughed, it's really easy to annoy him. I turned to look at the love birds in front of me. Pha was teasing Yo and the guy just smiled bashfully. They looked so good together. I am very happy for my friend. He is finally with the person he likes. No matter how glad I am for them I still can't stand them acting so mushy and in love right in front of me. I decided to excuse myself. I told them I am going to the restroom. They just nodded and they seemed to be happy for the privacy I am giving them. Lovesick. I didn't head to the restroom though, I went out to inhale some fresh air. On my way back, I saw a man and a woman almost blocking the way in. The girl was beautiful in her seductive short floral dress. However, the man was more noticeable. He was only wearing a white v-neck top and a black pants yet he was able to carry it well. He was tall. He looked so good, if not extremely. Not that I care though. "Baby, you look so hot. Even my pants are falling for you. " I heard the man said so sweetly. The woman giggled in response. They were almost eating each other's faces. Lame. I whispered and I couldn't help but chuckled. They weren't supposed to hear it but I think they did. They both thwarted their heads on me – if the man was slightly amused, if I see it correctly, the woman, on the other hand, was irked. Her eyes telling me to just disappear so she could have her way in the man. He looked familiar. I shrugged the thought away and went ahead before the woman could eat me alive. "Get a room! " I exclaimed. I saw Pha almost kissing Yo. They were so surprised that they separated quickly. I laughed and Pha threw me a piece of chip. "Stop it! " he said. "We weren't doing anything. " he expounded. "Yet! " a mischievous smile playing on my lips. "Yeah, right. " I kept on taunting them. Yo was flushed. "This is a bar so it is normal for people to dance. " Beam marched in and Forth followed suit. I knew it. Beam drank his glass of beer straight. He was about to drink his second glass when Forth stopped him. "What are you? My Father? " Pha, Yo and I sat back, hands on our glasses of beer, watching the welcome entertainment that was about to unfold right before us. This was nothing new – if anything, we've expected it. It just came too soon. Forth was cut short about to retort back to Beam. "There you are, " Yo jumped on his seat as all our heads turned to the person behind him. I saw Pha quietly scowled as the man's arms around Yo, conveniently hugging the latter. The person seemed to notice it for he low-key retracted his arms. It was him. I tried to ignore how fast my heart beats but as the room got quieter in my ears, I only hear the rapid change of my heart beat as it got louder. I made an effort not to look at him and look at him at the same time. It took me a lot of energy to act unaffected by his presence but to no avail. For every subtle movement, from running his hand through his hair unconsciously to smiling to someone's lame jokes. My eyes followed him. Why? Maybe, he's new. That's all there is to it. Certainly. "I thought I wouldn't be able to see even your shadow tonight, " Beam teased. It was funny how he was just angry a while ago and now he was laughing. He seriously needs to consult a doctor. Why am I friends with these two lunatic people in love? "Hello, Beam. Good to see you. " he turned a deaf ear to Beam. "Finally, done playing? " it was Yo this time, goading him. "I was actually looking for your table since ages ago. " Yeah, right. I muttered loud enough for him to hear. "Excuse me? " he looked amused. My breath hitched as our eyes met. "Oh right, you haven't met Kit yet." Pha realized. "Ming, Kit. Kit, Ming. " he sounded like rapping. "Kit, hmm. It's nice to meet you." he offered his hand for a handshake. I was unenthusiastic to accept his hand because I was afraid he might noticed I was nervous. However, I don't want to embarrassed him so I took it –keeping my face stoic. I intended for it to be a short one but I was surprised when he held my hand firmly. I narrowed my eyes at him but he didn't budge. "I can't say that the feeling is mutual. " I uttered in between my teeth. There are two types of person I never liked. First, someone who tries to control me. And second, someone who makes me out of control. This person was definitely – I don't know. Yet. He's a dangerous man. We held each other's gaze, no one wanted to back down, till a few moments later, he let go. He smiled, there was something in his eyes I couldn't fathom. "You can sit beside Kit since it's the only available chair left. " Pha told Ming. No. I wanted to say but it would be rude. He walked towards me. The smile never left his face. He kept on staring at me even after he was seated. I felt uncomfortable and he was creeping me. I looked at Pha and Beam, they were busy chatting with their respective partners so I was left to entertain their visitor. "Don't you know that it is rude to stare? " I finally voiced out.
