The Alpha's Daughter Forbidden Mate

"Do we really have to celebrate with the whole pack? We aren't doing that for the others who are turning 16." I say. I've been trying for days to change my parents' minds. I wanted to keep my 16th birthday small, but it hasn't worked out so far. They insist we invite the other pack members. I'm not fond of it at all; I don't like being the center of attention. Not even on my birthday. "Come on sweetie, it's not that bad. You know that's part of it. You're the daughter of the Alpha; we can't let your 16th birthday go unnoticed." My mother replied sympathetically. I sigh. I knew there was little chance she would change her mind. My mother puts an arm around me. "Come on honey. It will be okay. It's only an hour; it'll be over soon." She says to reassure me. I look at her suspiciously. An hour? Not that bad? She thinks so; I think it's hell. An hour of everyone's attention on me, no thanks. She hugs me. Sometimes, it's really annoying that my mother can sense my feelings. But sometimes, it's also helpful that she knows what I'm feeling without me having to say anything. "Don't worry, honey. It will be over before you know it, and then we can do something fun." She says. “Okay, one hour, promise?” I ask, and she nods. "Well, let's go to bed; it's an exciting day tomorrow." She says. I shake my head laughing. I think my mother is more excited than me that I'm finally getting my wolf. They told me that it was very painful for her. Because my father had to change her. But for me, it's different; I was born as a wolf. My father said it would be very different for me. My body was made for it. My dad says I'll probably only get a headache because my wolf has always been there and will now wake up. I kiss my mother goodnight and go to my room. I take a shower and then collapse on the bed. I know I should be going to sleep, but I can't resist grabbing my book. A chapter can't hurt. However, I know that I don't stop after a chapter. I'm just as much of a bookworm as my mother. My father doesn't understand it, so I'm glad my mother understands how wonderful it is to be drawn into a book. And just like my mother, I am a big fantasy fan. However, I can also get sucked into a good detective. At the moment, I'm reading the supernatural series, the best of both. I'm only on the second book, but I'm already afraid for the moment when I get to the end. That always sucks. It's like falling into a black hole. I'm so caught up in the story that I don't realize it's already well after midnight. My eyes start to feel heavy, and I have trouble keeping them open. But I really want to finish the chapter, just a few more pages. “Don't you think it's time to put the book down?” I hear a voice say. For a moment I'm terrified and drop the book from my hands. I look around the room, but I don't see anyone. I must have imagined it. "Nope, you heard me." I hear the same voice say. Did it giggle? WTF?! Where does that voice come from? "I'm in your head silly. My name is Maddow." Says the voice says laughing. In my head? Is it my wolf? How is that possible? I didn't notice anything at all. "Yeah, that's probably because you were engrossed in your book. I've been here for a while." She says. I feel a little guilty. "I'm sorry. Nice to meet you Maddow." I say. "Nice to meet you. Now, let's go to sleep. We have a big day tomorrow." She says. "Um, yeah. Okay." I stammer. I never thought meeting my wolf would go like this. I feel a little bad that I didn't feel her presence. “Rise and shine birthday girl.” I hear Maddow say as soon as I wake up. I look at the clock. 6.30. It's way too early for my liking, and I want to turn around again. "Oh no, we're not going to do that; get up." She says, and I groan. "Why? We don't have to get up for a long time. We can sleep for at least another hour." I whine. "No, we can't. We need to talk." She responds. "Can't we do it later?" I complain. "No. Now, stop whining and get dressed." She commanded. Jeez, that happened to me again, a bossy wolf, I think to myself. "I heard that!" She responds, and I roll my eyes. "And I saw that." She comments. Fuck. "Okay, I'm dressed. Happy?" I say grumpily. I took a quick shower to wake myself up properly. "Yes, now that you're fully awake, I have something to tell you." She says. She suddenly sounds a lot more serious. What could it be? She's only been there a few hours. What could be so important already?
