Kevin and Shelly keep looking at each other as if they've been struck by lightning, and there's an awkward silence.
"Hello??" Harry says, waving his arms for attention. "What is going on?" I ask Kevin.
"Shelly and her family are former pack members." He says, still uncomfortable. I look at him in surprise.
"Is that all?" Harry asks. He seems satisfied with that answer, but I don't. I feel it's not that simple. If that was the case, they didn't respond to each other that way.
“I thought you said no one dared to leave the pack because of your father?” I ask, trying not to sound too suspicious.
"We're one of the few." Shelly replies. I doubt whether it would be helpful to ask further questions now. They clearly don't want to tell us what the real reason is.
