The beginning of a new life

Seven and a half weeks later,Maxine came out of the ring,the same way she had disappeared from the convent,was the same way she appeared.She made sure the road to Father Maxwell's office was clear,it was not a great idea to be seen now,she had no mood to look for excuses to lie to them.With the training she had gained,she became more flexible and had earned great abilities,for example, her speed had increased very rapidly,she was moving like a flash,now she was standing right in the office,but father Maxwell had not noticed yet,he had his back facing the door.He had been looking through his cabinets while murmuring to himself,he had not even realized the change in that was in the office.

"Now,where are those silly documents?I just kept them somewhere here and they disappeared!"He said.

Maxine smiled to herself,she didn't want her presence to be known for the time being,she wanted to see how frustrated he can be.Everytime he came to eat with everyone at the convent he was so patient and calm,with an expressionless face,after watching him for a while,she cleared her throat causing Father Maxwell to jump in fright,he turned around and asked,"how long have you been there?"

"If you want to ask about how much I have heard,then I should tell you that I have heard all the dirty words said reverend,"she said.

Father Maxwell groaned,"stop calling me that,call me Bernard Lockwood,and Mother Superior said you can call her Sophia Lockwood.She and I are siblings."

"So Father...I mean, Uncle Bernard,what are you looking for?"She asked.

"After the examination results came out,I received a report from Harvard medical school.They want you to join their university,you said you want to take Medical research and biological science,right?"Bernard complained.

"I don't know the names of those courses,but you can accept their requests,I can learn their names later."Maxine said."Uuuuumm,did they say when the entry examination will start?"

"It will start next week,so you have to be prepared."Bernard said as he stood up to continue searching,"and by the way,your friend Mary,will also be joining the university."

Hearing this,Maxine cringed, her face turned pale,Bernard did not notice her reaction,"her scores were also good but not better than yours,this time you managed to surpass her."

Maxine suddenly sneered,if she wasn't dumb before,she could have been the one topping the exams all the time.Before,she had laid back because she thought friendship was better.During exams,she had been deliberately skipping some questions just to let her lead,but now,she will never let her lead.Since Mary wanted to be famous, she will grant her the request.She had not even realized how tight her fingers were clenched."I will write a letter requesting to live outside,I don't want to live in the school."

Somewhere in City Z,in a dark room,a man dressed in black walked inside the room and bowed,"Master,the ring has chosen someone already."

The room was so dark that no one recognize the man that was seated there, blending with darkness all one could see was the tiny bit of white coming from his teeth,"did you find the location?"

"No, master."he replied,"there is a protection around it,it can't be located."

"There is no rush,I have a lot of pets and puppets to use."the man said.

Maxine did her entry examination and she passed very well,all this time,she had tried to avoid Mary, inorder to first focus on making a foundation for herself.She had already gone to the Johnsones Perfume Industry and the jewelry industry and did a reshuffling with the employees.For the diamond mining company she had a video call with both Hussein and Andrew and came up with a way to solve the problems,she even promised to visit the two companies as soon as she had time."What do you think about the press conference tomorrow?"She was sitting across to Bernard and Sophia at the private room in Backwood's bar.

"I think the new perfume endorsement will be great,advertising the new perfume to the country is a great idea.The company has been under the water for a long time,but ever since I joined and took control of it,it has been going great thanks to you."Bernard explained.

Maxine took a sip from the wine glass,she was already used to drinking.In her past life,she went to many events as Pro. Martin's student and tossed to different people with big names."Aunt Sophia,are you ready to announce the partnership of the Jewelry and Perfume industry with uncle."

"If you were to do this as the president, it would have been better,but it is still great that we are announcing the partnership.Your mother wanted to do that but before she had the opportunity she disappeared and later,she died."Sophia said,her sad expression was written all over her face.

Maxine wanted to know what happened to her parents but she knew Sophia and Bernard had no idea of what happened."Tomorrow,I will be moving to the villa in Garden city.It's good that my family's laboratory is a few hours away and it is also close to the university.The university already allowed me to live outside with an exception,that is,if I continue to perform well in every exams, they will let me live wherever I want.In short,I am in probation."

"It's great,I know you are a genius,you will perform great in every exam."Bernard said.

Maxine also had no worries,she knew that even though she did not go to class, she would still perform well."Uncle,what about the thing I asked you to do for me?"

"Don't worry, I will mail the keys for the whole building to you,the building is in a designated area,it would be hard for anyone to notice it."Bernard replied."Also,you told me to find ex soldiers for you,I only found three."

Maxine stood up happily,"no need to mail me the keys,just send me the location on my WeChat.I want to sleep there tonight,i will force the door open if it refuses my polite approach,"she drank the whole wine from the glass then put it back on the table,"we are no longer in the convent,so please,the next time you invite me out don't order this type of wine,it makes me feel like I am drinking grape juice."

"You can never forget your roots child,"Bernard shouted at her as she was leaving the room.

"Some roots are best uprooted,'Father,' "she shouted back at him,waving her hands as she left,making sure she insinuated the name Father.Bernard and Sophia couldn't help but laugh as they watch her leave.

"Ever since she woke up from the fever that day,she has had a big change,everything about her has completely changed,which is for the good,"Sophia commented.

"I don't know what happened her,but I like the fact that she has become more mature now,she is still young but she has been acting like an adult."Bernard added.

"I also don't know why she likes those colours,she either puts on black or red clothes,today is a miracle she had put on a white pencil dress,"she looked at the ceiling,maybe it will rain sandstorm today,"Sophia said,causing a chuckle to come out from Bernard.
