The familiar male voice

Emcee, the poison master.In her previous life, this man was sent to assassinate her,if luck had not been on her side at that time,she would have already died.Now that he looks at her,the memories became vivid in her mind like it all happened yesterday.But now when she thinks of that time,his main purpose was not to kill her,it was to torture her.At that time,when he was about to inject her,he started writhing in pain as if possessed ,which gave her an advantage,she moved quickly and took one of the syringe that had a colourless liquid and had been thrown on the floor when they were fighting.She injected it on his thighs not caring what was it's purpose,she then took his phone and dialed the last number in his call log,and the first thing she heard was,"hello,Emcee,did you finish the task?"It was a familiar female voice which she did not have time to recognize because of the sharp pain she felt on her collarbone.She turned her head only to see him injecting the syringe with the dark liquid.She watched as it went from ten milliliters to zero millilitre and then followed by darkness.From that day onward,her life had changed,she would suffer immense pain everyday at the same time and it went on for three years before she found a way to control it.

"Why am I here?"Emcee said,"are we babysitting or what."After he finished speaking ,he waited for someone to answer him but all he saw was the sorry expressions that came from their faces,'is it pity?'He wondered,'but why would they pity me?'

"If I were you I wouldn't ask that."Woods said.

"So, how about we start the competition?But Emcee,I can't compete with you in concocting poison.There is no way we can determine whose poison is toxic,unless we try it on each other's body."Maxine said it nonchalantly,taking a one big gulp from her whiskey glass.They all shivered,the most toxic poison can cause one to die less than a few seconds,if they try it on each other,who will guarantee they will not die?

On the other hand, Emcee sneered, no one has ever won against him when it came to concocting poison,so how can Maxine even think about it.He stared at Maxine for a while and concluded that she was just a bragging nineteen year old girl,who thought she had the whole world under her feet.However,before he could voice out his opinion ,Maxine spoke first,and the sentence that came out from her mouth,caused him to freeze on the spot.

"I can help you in one thing,"she lifted her head and her deep fiery red pupils stared at him as if trying to pry his head open,the stare gave everyone in the room a very deep sensation of fear."I know you haven't found the cure to the poison in your body.The poison started acting up when you were at the age of thirteen years old.You have been looking for a cure or a way to control but you still have no clue."

"How did you know that?Did anyone tell you?Who told you?"Emcee couldn't help asking all those questions.Apart form his grandfather, no one else knew about his condition ,"he looked at his former military friends and at their expressions,they were shocked,none of them knew about his poisoned body,but they dared not to ask,they knew if Emcee didn't tell them,then he didn't want them to know.

"I not only know that,I also know it acts up two times a month,at ten-forty o'clock in the night.The poison does not attack children from the age of twelve and below, that's why it did not act up or show signs when you were young, but it has been there with you since the day your mother died,who was also killed by the same poison after she gave birth to you.Everyone thought she died due to child birth so no one investigated the case."After she finished the sixth or the seventh glass of whiskey, she placed it on the table and walked past them,heading towards the stairs,"I can't promise anything much, but if you work under me,I will give you the protection and the chance to do your revenge on those who hurt you and your close relatives.Woods, I can bring back Jaqueline anytime and help her gain a foothold in the industry,but I don't know if she would want to see you, due to what your family did to her and her parents."

She took several steps up the stairs,and stopped the turned around to face them,"if you want to join me, you can join me, but if we have to compete in order for you to come up with a decision, then I will still agree, but I only have one thing to say, I demand your full loyalty once you join me."As she said the last words,she used her powers to increase her aura to make sure her words are not taken lightly,"there are several rooms in this villa, you can pick one for the time being,after you make your decision you can leave or stay, but this will only be a temporary place for you to stay.Jessy, my assistant will help you with whatever you want,"she raised her hand to check the watch on her wrist,"I have class in one and half hours,so I'll take my leave for now."

Maxine went to her room,which was also her late mother's room,she changed her clothes and put on a black denim jean with a black crop top and a black hoodie then walked out.She went downstairs and left without saying another word.As she got out of the villa and walked towards the main road, she lifted her hand to wave for a taxi,when she noticed a german shepherd stuck in the middle of the busy road.It was trying to cross the road but there were too many cars that it didn't know what to do, suddenly it made a move forward on the other side of the lane where the cars were going in the opposite direction.Maxine noticed a truck moving at a high speed with no aim of holding the breaks, while the dog became confused due to the constant cars honking at it,without a second thought, she ran and crossed the moving towards the dog,she picked it up and crossed the road towards the other side of the road.Everyone who saw the scene remained in shock,no one could register the speed she used because all they saw was black figure passing them in a flash,and when they gained their senses,the figure was already on the other side caressing the dogs head while the dog started licking her.

"Hey Hunter,"the dog paused and turned it's head towards the deep male voice,"come here!"commanded the voice.

The dog did not make a move,it just stared at him,"since when did you start licking strangers?"
