Gritting my teeth, I walked away fast. I never liked being with guys. I prefer being surrounded by girls even though I don't talk much. And damn, they don't smell good. Those men smells sweat. So disgusting. I should just go home and eat and then leave.
The air smells fruit and mints, so refreshing. I felt relieved for a bit. I keep thinking that 'I am leaving this place anyway', but I am always reminded that, for once, though my life's hard, I once lived in a very refreshing environment.
I snickered. I especially chose my house near the woods to easily hide. That's why the road is between trees.
While walking amidst thoughts, I just realized that I am near the path to my house. I stopped.
It's not just because I seem to be lost in thought, it's just that, the road is eerily quiet.
I decided to just walk away again. Anyways, I'm not staying here anymore and I don't really have important things left in that house, so might as well just leave quietly and forget that I was here in this town.
As I am about to turn to the road to the gates of the town, I heard groans not far from me. Not that it's my thing to be nosy, it's just that I really hear them loud and clear.
“You seem new, boy. You must be one of the nobles finding her, right?!” the familliar voice of a guy, sneered.
Not long, I heard soft voice of the another guy, stuttering. “I d-don't know what y-y-you're talking about. I just came with m-my friends.”
“Man, look at his robe. What a nice silk. It must be a decade of lavish living if we sell that.”
“Right. I just heard heavy coins in his pouch.”
“If you won't talk, we will just rob you off! Ash, Jack, take his robe off!”
Hearing the familliar voice and names, I sneered. Seems that they were bailed to attack me again. Damned. Should I finish them before leaving? But won't it add up another enemies? Aside from Secretarial Officer Harth, there will also be their families.
Truth is, I still don't have the plan on how to escape the people I robbed off. I mean, I still don't have the idea on what to do. It was act of an impulse when I underestimated them. Some wanted to kill me, and some wanted to use me. Anyway, every talents they have sought, though it was not yet held, it's being treated as a tool.
Though I scammed Secretarial Officer Harth, the three of them, Ash, Jack, and Rick, were the ones who were jailed for an attempt of assault and ability abuse and their abilities were sealed temporarily.
I never really knew that Secretarial Officer Harth is this powerful. Damn it. Regrets are really the aftermath.
“Wow, Rick. You seem to grow some backbone.”
The three of them turned to my direction, wide eyed. Tsk. So ugly.
“Why are your eyes so wide? Calm down, you stupid trio. Your eyes are 'bout to leave your sockets. I don't want to witness such disgusting sight, Rick.” I tried not to smirk when I saw how their veins popped up one by one.
Must be a humiliation when a highly sought after trio were jailed and abilities were sealed. They must be really energetic right now, since their energies were sealed and restrained. Damn it! So impulsive, Collie! I should have just ran!
While contemplating what to do, suddenly, memories came gushing in.
“If I turn out to die early, and can't accompany you anymore, Collie, I don't want you stay at just one place.”
“Switch places while you can. You'll get tired staying at just one place.” right there, I wanted to refute but I didn't.
I remained silent, staring at my mother on her deathbed.
Sensing my silent refutation, she smiled softly. “Switching places is almost the same with traveling, Collie. You'll get tired, but you'll see more about the world; your tiredness will be forgettable.”
Mother grasped my small hands softly. Her hands were pale and veiny. Though sick, her face remained immaculate, her lying body renders serenity, also making my melancholic heart somehow at peace.
“Dear, what mother meant, is to never settle for less, like what mother did.” she smiled softly, her last word were almost a whisper. “Don't train only one ability, you're more than that. You'll only get tired feeling helpless.”
Mother sighed shakily. “Collie, remember, train more. Train. More.”
“Train more until you're satisfied, Collie. I know you. You are perfectionist. You took after him.” I gritted my teeth with the mention of him. I will never find him, nor beg. I don't need that man.
“Collie.” I tried to calm down and cleared the lump in my throat. “Progress, Collie, not perfection. Keep that in mind.”
I sighed heavily.
Mother...
Rick and I stared at each other like a crow and a cat does in the garbage disposal area.
As the cold wind passed us by, glaring at each other, we attacked.
**************†*******************
Zach, wide eyed, stared hard at the raven colored hair girl. Her moves were slick and fast. Also very defined and measured. Her clever mind pushed the other party to the corner. This time, the other two guys, who were guarding him, also tried to help and attacked the girl.
The girl then suddenly stopped and took her hood and cape off, leaving their mouths hang open.
The girl, with obviously perfect combination of genes, wore dark verdant cotton sweater with loose thin intricately trimmed wool-made neckline. The sweater looks so big and loose that it was inserted in her lumber-colored shorts, her wood-like leather belt is also eye-catching. Speaking of shorts, that was actually the reason why their jaw fell to the ground.
‘She's wearing shorts!’
She was very fair. Her footware were a silk-stringed slipper which is tied like a women's dress, just below her knee.
Though the outfit is considered offending, it doesn't look bawdy on her. Instead, it might become a trend to the commoners!
Rick, who just saw Connie's face and figure for the first time wanted to observe and watch her first. Though she's very good-looking, she's a very fatal young girl who's about to be a big femme fatale someday!
Zach's imagination was cut off when the girl suddenly attacked the other party, like a leaf being blown by a hurricane, only leaving her cape floating in the air where she left it!
He panickly picked and arranged the books that has been trampled by the trio before their fights came to his way and stood up, trying to observe the fight from afar.
The girl is very obviously skilled, like a sword who has been bathing in blood all those years. Meanwhile, the trio paled in comparison. Watching her breaking tendons and kicking their asses made him think what does it feel to be able to fight like that. After all, he's not that capable of combat.
As Connie is about to attack them again when one of the guy's earing turned a red light, giving it a sense of urgency. After the one guy's earing, the other twos' earrings came after, making them look like a series of lights.
The trios' face reddened in embarassment and hastily ran away. While not yet far, Ash, who has been the one who suffered more with broken fingers and shoulder, shouted, “I'm not yet done with you, Connie Adams! I will definitely come back!!”
Connie, who was disgusted with the name they called her, tsked, picked her cape and took the sanitizer out from its pocket.
“Where the hell did they picked that disgusting name from?” she silently mumbled.
Connie then rubbed the sanitizer on her neck, face, arms, shoulders, fingers, palms, and even on her knees and toefingers!
Zach, who has been watching, has his jaw drop on the ground again. And seeing her leave like she never really saw him, made him somewhat red in frustration.
“What a strange girl.”
