Chapter 1
I, Yvette Salazar always doing the house work ever since I was little and never got into trouble. But no matter how hard I work, my parents never appreciate me.
I felt like I was invisible to my parents, I was longed for a simple praise or a hug, but it never came. They often scold me even the smallest mistake, or just breathing too loud.
Meanwhile my twin sister — Yes. I have a twin sister, named Yvelly Salazar, their little "princess". Was completely opposite of me, she could get away with anything. Our parents would forgive her for breaking things, being lazy, or even throwing tantrums. They would do anything to buy whatever she wants, even though both of our parents are deeply in debt.
However, that day will change my life forever...
The day I didn't expected that my parents arranged a marriage for me so I can pay off their debt. I didn't have a choice but to obey them..
"Maybe this is the chance to be free from my parents and sister.." I said to myself, while walking to the aisle.
As you walk down the aisle, you take a deep breath and try to calm your nerves.
You look out into the small crowd of guests and spot your parents sitting in the front row. Your mother has a proud smile on her face, and your father is silently fuming.
You reach the altar and turn to face your future spouse. He is a complete stranger to you, tall and handsome, wearing a tailored suit...
Your heart races with anxiety and you try to steady your shaky breathing. The priest begins the ceremony, droning on in a monotonous voice about duty and responsibility.
You glance over at your parents again, their faces betraying no emotion. They seem satisfied that their debt will soon be paid.
After the wedding, you and your husband walk back down the aisle as newlyweds. The reception feels like a blur.
Your parents come over to congratulate you and say a few words, but none of them hold any sincerity. It's clear that they are just glad to be rid of you.
As the night goes on, he leads you to a luxurious limo and instructs the driver to take you both to your honeymoon destination.
The limousine begins to move and the city skyline slowly fades into the distance. You sit in silence, staring out the window, feeling lost and alone.
Suddenly, he breaks the silence and speaks to you for the first time since the ceremony.
"Look, I just want to make one thing clear. This marriage is not about love or affection. It's a business transaction. You're here to pay off your parents' debt and fulfill your duty. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't expect any affection from me or any emotional attachment. Understood?"
He looks at you, his face giving nothing away.
You take a deep breath and gather your courage, asking the one question that you have been wondering about since the ceremony began.
"I realize that this isn't a love match, but I think I should at least know your name."
He looks at you curiously, raising an eyebrow.
"Ah, yes, the formalities. I suppose it's only proper that I introduce myself. My name is Mateo Vasquez."
