"Son your 21st birthday is coming, what gift would you like?" my father casually asked me just a week before my birthday
"I would like a blue brand new car dad" I gleefully answered
You see, my father owns a medical coding school and a life insurance company
He is the CEO and he is training me so I could take over the family business soon
My mom passed away when I was 5, since then my father took all the responsibility of taking good care of me personally. He sees to it that I eat on time, takes a nice warm bath and brushes my teeth before going to bed at night, he also sent me to the best schools and I am only allowed to wear branded clothes, nothing less.
By the way I am an only child so yeah, Dad always give me what I need and what I wanted.
On the day of my 21st birthday Dad threw me the best party anyone would have asked for, gourmet food, expensive wines and champagnes, bottles of my favorite Dom Perignon here and there, LV gold money clips for men and YSL pouches for ladies as a souvenir for my party, it was a blast
When the party ended my dad called me and handed me a gift, it was wrapped in a metalic blue gift-wrapper
I gave him a puzzled look
"Open it" he said
I excitedly opened it
My excitement faded the moment I saw what it is
It's a Bible
"Dad this is a Bible! I told you I want a car, you shouldn't have asked me if you weren't going to give me what I wanted" I shouted
"But son, aren't you going to take a look at it first?" my father asked
"No! Forget it!" I left the Bible on top of his library desk
The next day I decided to leave our house and live on my own
It's been three years now since I last talked to my old man
Earlier I received a call from my father's secretary, she said he had a heart attack and died instantly because of it
I had to go back to our house to take care of everything
I decided to go to my father's library where he keeps all his important documents
Then I saw the Bible sitting on top of his desk where I left it three years ago, I decided to open it for the first time
Tears started flowing down my cheeks when I saw what's in the middle of it.
It's a cheque worth 10 million dated on my birthday and a note:
My son I didn't know what type of car you want so just buy your own car
-Love Dad
Now it's too late...
