Jasper had given me a list of Rules & Duties that I needed to take care of while I lived in this house. The man was so unpredictable and insane, that I realized that his rules surely had some catch. Good Luck! Regards, Jasper Lockhart I read the papers a few more times and I started having a serious migraine. I grabbed for the glass of water from the night stand and downed the entire glass. What the f**k was this man"s problem? And, what was his deal with the gold and f*****g Platinum benefits? Who did he think he was? Zayn Malik? Was I supposed to be excited about this stupid confidential platinum envelope? This was a mere game for Jasper and nothing else, I realized. I stashed the file in the drawer and began thinking how I could possibly get out of this situation. Jasper was smart, and I don"t mean the kind of smartness that just comes out of acquiring the highest level of education. Jasper was more of a sly and manipulative mastermind. He worked his charms, made me think that I knew what I was doing, but in reality, I had been walking right into his palms. I decided to compartmentalize my thoughts and go for the evening walk in the mansion gardens. I quickly changed into a denim jeans and a loose lemon top to go with it. I threw the closet to the left side open, and stared into the many pairs of shoes, all lined up on the racks. Finally, I chose a pair of white sneakers. When I was out of the mansion, I breathed in the fresh air, and looked at the sky. It felt like forever since I"d walked out of that house. Even the smallest amount of freedom made me happy. I spent thirty minutes just enjoying the nature and the trees as they whooshed. The sun had already gone down leaving the sky inky blue. I walked deeper into the woods, dodging the branches of trees that were jutting out and hopping off fallen tree trunks. I checked the time and realized I still had about twenty more minutes until I was expected inside the luxurious prison cell. As I walked further, my sneaker hit a twig or something as I toppled over and fell flat on the muddy ground. Dirt caked my top and my jeans. I groaned as I climbed to my feet, brushing off the leaves and the matted soil. I kicked what I thought was a twig, and something shinning went flying from the ground. Whoa! Was it possible I"d hit some kind of a hidden treasure at the Lunatic mansion? I quickly kneeled on the ground and picked up the piece of shimmering object. Sure enough, it was a silver ring, embedded with a red stone of some kind. I wondered if the ring was real jewelry or the fake kind that you find in shops. It looked quite real. I didn"t know if it was instinct or what it was, I clawed my fingers into the dirt and like a dog trying to hide his bone, I continued to dig the soft dirt further. I dug deeper and it kind of reminded me how I used to dig the sand when I played at the beach with I was eight. Something smooth touched my fingertips. I grabbed it and pulled it out of the dirt. It was a bone. My hands shook violently as a chill ran down my spine. I realized what I had done, I"d dug up something I shouldn"t have. It didn"t look like an animal bone at all. It was surely a human bone and the silver ring proved it. I threw the bone and made a run out of the woods. My heart beating so fast, the thought continued to assault me. If I was to disobey Jasper Lockhart, would my body be lying beneath the ground? I wondered what was on the third floor of the mansion and the basement. I had to find out. At that moment, I"d decided that I was going to play his game, because if I continued my rebellious attitude, he would kill me. Rose was right, Jasper was a f****d up deranged man, and I could only hope to play by his rules and get the f**k out of this place, that"s when the ball would be in my court. Until then, patience was virtue. Survival of the fittest. I was yet to uncover all his buried dirty secrets and I was terrified of what I would find, but if I wanted to be free of this mad man"s plans, I needed to be patient. I just hoped it wouldn"t be too late.
