Chapter 9

Milo’s POV

Two Month Later…

It has been 2 months since I left Iris and she been trying to get back with me ever since. She didn’t even give us time to be apart. But what made me mad was that she kept begging me to come back to her but not once did she ask for Kenny or to talk and spend time with him. Its been 2 months and she haven’t seen him at all because she so wrapped up in her selfish and self center self. Everything has to revolve around her but that’s not how it works at all. She is going to have to learn the hard way. Don’t get me wrong I still love Iris, we been together 5 years and have a beautiful son together, love just don’t die down that easily but she needs to work on herself and get herself together first before we can get back to where we use to be.

I walked into my office knowing today is going to be a good day. I had to finish up my last reports for the Berkley Family because we got to go meet them next week to show them what we been working on for their daughter. I was reading a report when there was a knock on my office door, “Come in.” I said without looking up to see who it was.

“Hi Milo, how are you?” I looked up to see Adairia’s beautiful face standing in my door way; today she had on a beautiful purple skirt dress suit; the skirt hugged her curves perfectly. “Brenda said I can come in since you didn’t have a meeting but I can come back if you’re busy.” She said nervously. If I’m not in a meeting or busy my family and friends don’t have to be announced, now that Iris and I broke up she is the only one that have to be announced because I don’t need her coming in here acting like a fool.

“No, no, I’m not busy at all. What brings you by today; I haven’t seen you in a while.”

“I know, I just been busy with looking for a space for our fashion business. You know I’m picky when it comes to stuff like this, I can’t just choose any place.”

“Well have a sit let’s talk about it, would you like something to drink or a snack.”

“No, I’m fine, I won’t be here long.” I was kind of sad that she wouldn’t be staying for long; I haven’t seen Adairia in about a month and a half. Her and my sister are thick as thieves, most of the time when I see Tamala I will see Adairia and Alli too. Lately I only had seen Alli and Tamala but not Adairia. It kind of felt like she was trying to avoid me.

“I was in the area so I decided to stop by because I want to ask you a question.” She said bringing me out of my trance.

“OK. What question do you have for me?”

“I was talking to Tamala the other day and she mentioned that you and Asher are going to Atlanta to meet with the Berkley Family, I was wondering if I can ride on your private plane with you guys because I got to meet with them also. I’m making dresses for the daughters and mother for the birthday ball they’re having.” I just stared at her, taking in all her beauty. Her green hazel eyes were really sparkling today. “If it’s too much trouble I can take the air plane I don’t mind, I just didn’t want to take the chance sitting next to some creep on the plane.” She said because I didn’t answer right away, I was just taking aback by how beautiful she is. “No its not any trouble at all, you can ride on our private plane with us and if you need it any other time just let me or Asher know and we will have it ready for you too. You don’t have to deal with any creep.”

“Thank you Milo, I really appreciate it.” She said while coming around to hug me. She even smelled good, like roses and tropical flowers. “You’re welcome, anytime.” I said while savoring her closeness. “Well, I better get out of here I got a lunch date to get to. I’ll let you get back to work. Thank you again Milo.” She said while standing up straight and straightening out her clothes. I don’t know why I feel a ping of jealousy when she mentioned going on a lunch date, I should be happy that she was starting to date. “Hey, do you have a few more minutes to spare before you have to go to lunch.” I asked her trying to get her to stay around me just a little bit longer; I refuse to mention the “date” part though. She looked down at her watch to check the time, “Yea I got a little bit of time.” She said and went back to sit in her seat.

“I want to talk to you about your space for your fashion business.” She gave me a nod to continue. “First, what have Alli been doing to help you find a place for y’all’s business?”

“Nothing because she knows how picky I am with the location and stuff so she leaves that part to me.”

“OK, I asked because I wanted to put both of y’all’s notes together before I made a suggestion to you.”

“OK, what’s your suggestion?”

“Do you like the location of my office?” she gave me a nod of approval.

“Good, you know I own this whole building, how about you and Alli open up your design shop in the building, it can be on the ground floor.” She gave me a huge grin and ran over to me giving me a big hug. “Thank you, thank you, thank you Milo. I don’t know why I haven’t thought of this before. Thank you so much.” She said and kissed me on my cheek, her lips are so soft. “No problem, you are more then welcome.”

“OK, let me talk to Alli about it and I will let you know next week when I see you.”

“Sounds great, in a few days I’ll be sending you a message about what time we will be leaving. Will Alli be joining you on this trip?”

“Nope it’ll just be me; she has to meet with another client about their wedding dress next week.”

“OK, one more thing, why didn’t you or Alli come to me asking for help to find a place for you guys business? You know I own this whole building and I own my own architect and technology company, I could’ve let you rent out the ground floor or Ash and I could’ve built you a store.” She put her head down shyly and shrugged her shoulders, “Honestly I don’t know, I really never thought about asking you. I just been so stressed out about it, it completely slipped my mind.”

“Where have you been running it at?”

“I only been taking custom orders at the moment so I been working from my home office.” I shake my head at her; she could’ve been working somewhere more comfortable instead of having people coming in and out of her home she knew better than that. She look down at her watch to check the time, she must really need to get to this lunch date, she confirm my suspension when she said, “I really got to get going or I’m going to be late, thanks again Milo for everything, I’ll be looking forward to that message, see you next week.” She said and blew me a kiss on the way out the door. When she turned around she ran smack dead into Asher, he caught her before she can fall on her butt “Whoa there cowgirl, why you in such a hurry?” he said with his arm still around her waist keeping her steady. I still feel that ping of jealousy in my chest when I see her in the arms of another man but I knew that Asher wouldn’t do anything crazy with Adairia because he always looked at her as a little sister like the rest of us plus he is very faithful to his girlfriend Terry. “Nothing I’m just about to be late for my lunch date.” I seen Ash lift his eyebrows and I knew he was about to go into his big brother role, “What lunch date Adairia, it better not be with no boy.” He said in his brotherly tone. “I hate to burst your bubble Ash but no it’s not a boy, it’s a man.” She said giving him sass with a big grin on her face. I had to laugh at that because looking at her acting sassy and stuff reminds me of Tamala, she hung out with Tamala for far too long and now she’s picking up her sassy habits but then again they have been friends since they were 4 years old. “A man? What man Adairia? You not allow to date.” Adairia laughed at him, “yes I am, I’m 22 years old and I am old enough to date and if you must know it’s a guy from college.”

“Well does the guy from college have a name?” he said with his eyebrows still lifted.

“Yes his name is Marco and that’s all I’m telling you. I’ve really got to go, I’ll see you guys next week” she said and kissed Ash on the cheek and ran around him to get to the elevators before he could question her farther, s**t I wanted to know too.

“Alright, love you Dairia and be safe. Call me if you need anything.” Ash yelled back to her before she could get on the elevator.

“Love you guys too.” She said and blew us a kiss before the elevator doors closed.

Asher came in and took the sit where Adairia was just sitting, “Our little Dairia is growing up. I think this is her first date.”

“I think so too.” I said. I’m not too happy about her going on a date but what can I do she is grown.

“What she talking about she’ll see us next week? We have to go meet with the Berkley’s next week.”

“Yes I know, she’s coming with us because she has to meet with them too. She is making dresses for the daughters and mother for the birthday ball they are having.” I started to work on my reports again. I couldn’t stop thinking about Adairia, she looked so good in that purple skirt dress suit and she smelled good too. Is it wrong to be thinking about another woman when I just got out of a toxic relationship with Iris? Maybe. But I don’t care honestly, Iris hasn’t been good to me in a very long time and I deserve to be happy. I’m a good guy; I know I can make a woman happy. I’m not a womanizer, I always loved the idea of relationships because that’s how I grew up my mom and dad has a great relationship, it’s very solid. Pops worship the grown that my mother walks on; he will do anything for her and vise versa.

I had a crush on Adairia ever since our first kiss but I felt so guilty afterwards because I always looked at her as a sister, I’m suppose to protect her and love her like a sister not lust after her but that’s what I been doing, watching her with lustful eyes. I always try to keep my lust for Adairia under control because I’m so close to her brothers and cousins as well, I don’t know how they would feel if they knew I had a thing for their little sister and cousin.

When Iris and I got together I thought I found the one. I thought I found my soul mate, my life partner but now I’m starting to second guest myself about this. I know that being away from Iris will help us, I think we do just need time away from each other. She might not think so or accept it now but she’s going to have to eventually because I’m not letting up on this. She has to change before we ever decide to get back together. I was bought out of my thoughts when I heard somebody clearing their throat; I looked up to see Ash looking at me strangely, “Hey man, where did you go? You zoned out on me.”

“Nothing, sorry about that, I was just thinking about something.” I couldn’t let him know I was thinking about Adairia. Nobody can know about my feelings for her.

“Oooookay….I came to see if you wanted to grab lunch.”

“Yea lets do it, I can eat.” I said. We grabbed our stuff and headed out the door.
