Chapter 5

Adairia’s POV

It has been a week since that whole encounter with Iris at the party for Alli, Tammy and I. I couldn’t believe the way Iris came in there and showed her ass and then she expected me to give her Kenny while she was drunk. It would’ve had to been over my dead body before I did that. I don’t care if that is his momma, I’m not about to put his life in danger because she decided to make bad choices. What does Milo see in her anyways? She’s a horrible person; she came in the house like she owns the place screaming and barking orders but my best friend Tammy put her in her place real quick. Tammy doesn’t play that disrespect, especially when it comes to her family. And she almost slapped me when I had her son in my arms, which showed me that she didn’t care about anybody but herself because she could have hit him while she was trying to be spiteful.

I was sitting in my favorite café waiting on my cousin Amar. Before leaving to go to college Amar and I use to have lunch dates at this café once a week and now that I’m back we will start our routine again. Amar is more then a cousin, he is like a big brother to me, he’s only 6 years older than me and we are close as ever. I looked up when I heard the bell at the entrance ding indicating that somebody was coming into the café. I had a big smile on my face when I seen that it was Amar. I was so happy to see him; I got up from my seat and ran over to him to give him the biggest hug. He picked me up and spun me around grabbing everyone’s attention in the café, “Put me down Amar everyone is watching us.” I said while giggling.

“I don’t care let them watch I missed my baby cousin.” He said with so much emotion in his voice. He finally put me down and we walked back to our seats and sat down.

“How have you been Amar?”

“I been good, just working and getting this dealership up and running.”

Last year Amar and his best friend Jimmy Brookes decided to open up a car dealership on the outskirts of Phoenix, Arizona. I can’t express how proud I am of my cousin because he came a long way in life. Amar had a troubling childhood until my parents saved him from himself and took him in but that’s a story for another time.

“That’s good Amar, I’m so proud of you. I know you and Jimmy will succeed in the business. I can’t wait to see what it looks like. I might have to come get a car from y’all.”

“Thank you little bit, that means a lot coming from you. You better come get your car from me. We will even give you the family and friends discount.”

We sat there talking about anything and everything. I told him about my time in college and what my experience was like and he told me about what made him want to open his own car dealership. I love talking to my cousin; I can talk to him about anything and everything. We set there in silence for a few minutes eating our food until Amar broke the silence, “How are you really doing Adairia?”

“I’m doing good Amar. I’ll probably just chill for another week or so before I start looking for buildings for my business.”

“That’s good, take your time but that’s not what I was asking and you know it Dairia. How are you? Especially after what happened last week and seeing Milo again. It seems like everybody knows you are in love with him accept him.”

“I’m fine Amar. Seeing Milo was different. He still gives me those Goosebumps but I just have to accept that I will never be with him. He has a girlfriend and a beautiful son and I just have to live with that and move on with my life.”

“I don’t think Milo is thinking right. We all know that he will be better off with you and you will definitely be a better mother to Kenny than that witch. Did you see the way she came in there demanding to see Milo? Tam was not having it at all.”

“Does everyone know that I been in love with Milo forever?”

“Yea just about everyone accepts for him. Like everybody knows I have been feeling Tammy.” He said in between eating.

“Oh so you do like Tammy, huh?”

“You knew that so don’t play silly but don’t change the subject, we’re not talking about me, we’re talking about you.”

“I don’t know what he sees in her. Like she is rude, and mean for no reason. She came into the house like she owned the place, she was about to hit me while her son was in my arms crying, she could’ve hit him or hurt him while she was trying to be spiteful and she didn’t even care.”

“Well I know when we was in Poppa West man cave Iris called looking for him and they got into some heated argument and that’s why she came over showing her ass the way she did. I guess while they were outside she talked him into taking her back. But I hope one day he will wake up and see that girl for who she really is.”

“Yea me too, I really do.”
