Fifty-three: What it takes to be a Normal Student
And by doing so, Ajax let go of Kronos as he extended his arms while looking at Yohan and exclaimed. “Ah, Yohan, they’re bullying me.”
With that being said, Yohan then picked up Ajax with a laugh. “Come now, I’ll carry you.”
The two of them surely missed each other the same way Astian seemed to miss Kronos. You see... After Ajax went towards Yohan, Astian clung towards Kronos as the former rested his cheeks towards the latter’s shoulder.
Other people were busy exiting the dining room, which was why Kronos was about to retire too. However, when he felt that something heavy was on his side, he adjusted his head and looked at the culprit. “Astian.”
Hearing this, Astian looked at Kronos and snickered as he controlled his weight in order for Kronos to walk comfortably. “Don’t mind me, I just missed you. We were separated for a week.”
“Right,” Kronos replied as he started to march towards the living room. It seemed like they would be having a meeting right after the feast when Sir Samael told them to gather in the living room.
Come to think of it, the house on the outside was but an ordinary cabin. But when they excused themselves to enter, it was more of a mansion. Although it was not something to be amazed at, given that it was a world full of magic and Lord Dio was actually a popular living legend.
“Let’s not be separated again, alright?” Astian replied as he was dragged by Kronos.
Hearing this, Kronos nodded. “Yes.”
If Kronos were, to be honest, it was a lousy occurrence that he got separated from Astian. He was not close with the other kids, and he could not get a hold of his habit, which is patting someone. While it was a good thing that Ajax was in his team, that way he could pat him to his heart’s content, nothing really had changed. The other kids would talk to him if there was something that they wanted to know, and he would usually reply with a simple yes or no.
Because Kronos did not want to swear to the other kids, he could not even ask a question, even if he wanted to. Surely the other kids wanted Astian to be there too, as he was the only one who could understand Kronos without him saying a thing.
The good thing was that, gradually, the awkward atmosphere disappeared and they had more exchanged conversation than on their first day of being together. That being said, his interpreter was not there, yet he managed to have conversations without swearing. The others understood his circumstances. That was why they made it a game where they needed to understand what Kronos was trying to say.
Kronos felt offended, but what could he do? He was not mute, yet he refused to talk that much.
“Papa, a week has passed ever since we showed off our faces in the Academy. What happened?” Asisi snapped him back to reality.
Because Kronos was spacing out too much, he did not realize that they were already in the living room, sitting on a couch with Astian leaning on his shoulders.
On the other hand, Sir Samael replied to Asisi’s query with the same serious expression on his face. “Nothing new. I made stand-ins, so no one suspected.”
“You mean those scary corpses?” Inoa shrieked with her usual scowling face.
Even when she was crept out, her brows were still knitted together. It was as if she was born scowling, but Inoa was naturally a good girl with a temper. But not all the time. She was expressive, though. At that moment, she was scared of the corpses.
“Yeah, what of it?” Sir Samael raised a brow.
“Nothing.” And then, later on, she was scared of Sir Samael, the owner of the corpses.
Well, it was hard to imagine having dead bodies as a stand-in. But surely Sir Samael was not an i***t for doing just that. He must have made some calculations and placed an illusion wherein the others could discern the corpses to be the actual Exi class.
With that being asked, Sir Samael felt like it was his turn to ask. Thus, he looked at the Exi and asked a question. “What about you guys? Anything special that happened in a span of a week?”
Of course, he needed to know whether it was too much or they did not suffer at all. He could not make a report about their everyday struggle since Lord Dio forbade him to do so. That was why his only choice was to hear the report directly from the kids. Indeed, they would not lie over trifling matters.
“At first, we got easily exhausted, but we did not feel any hunger. And as time went by, we were not getting tired at all.” Mikhail started the report.
Actually, the first thing they asked with each other when the two teams reunited was that.
‘How was it?’
They noted every little change and how it went after dealing with monsters as time went by. After that, Lord Dio and the others came to fetch them. It may be an instinct that they should know as soon as possible any changes because that was their goal in the first place. To hone their potential and overcome any weakness.
Hearing Mikhail’s report, Sir Samael rubbed his chin as he stared at the thin air with a serious expression on his face. It was for a moment as if he was pondering about a seemingly important issue.
Shortly after that, Sir Samael looked at the kids and nodded. “That’s good. Your stamina is getting stronger. Moreover, it seems like your potentials was stronger than the last time I sensed them.”
It was not a mere lip service. As soon as they fetched the kids at the hotspot area, Sir Samael immediately knew how their aura was more robust than before. Actually, he could not believe such changes happened within just a week. It seemed like the epitropi helped them big time.
“Fufu. It’s all thanks to our hard work!” Sarlienne laughed as she looked at them with a sweet smile. She was in a good mood as her effort in improving was not in vain.
Not just Sarlienne but also Artem. They could order a corrupted monster already in a span of a week. However, they could order only a word before coughing blood. But the development was enough for them to feel proud of themselves.
“Yeah! It’s been a week, right? Then are we up for another epitropi? We can go now and fight some if it’s another corrupted monster!” Luca replied as he showed off his invisible muscles.
Of course, everyone changed after dealing with hundreds of corrupted monsters. They were able to do something that they could not do before. They can control their potential much better than before, and they were able to have much more energy and stamina than before.
Everyone changed, most especially Kronos, who happened to have an accident only he had witnessed all thanks to his familiars. And that particular accident made an opportunity that Kronos could possibly ignore.
Sir Samael snapped back Kronos to reality as he raised his brow and replied to Luca with a snap on his fingers as it woke Luca from reality. “Don’t get so cocky. Just because you had a week of honing your potential and had no signs of exhaustion does not mean that you do not need some plenty amount of rest.”
While it’s true that they were stronger than before, who knows what would happen if they did not have a good rest from all the stress since they were still kids.
Besides, Sir Samael was very well aware that they were in a hiding. That was why they still have an act to keep up.
“What? We’re taking a break?” Naouii asked with a shocked expression on her face.
How could they take a break when all they wanted to do was kill every corrupted monster lurking around. After all that happened in the hotspot area, the kids seemed to feel bloodlust around the corrupted monsters since it was their only companion in that intense realm.
“Yes.” Sir Samael simply replied.
However, the break that Sir Samael imagined was far different from what the kids imagined. They were already in their own world, imagining that they would go somewhere far away from the Academy and play. Some of them imagined being in an amusement park, some imagined staying at home and having a slacker life, and some imagined going on a killing spree by renting a realm for corrupted monsters.
“So we can go outside and play then?” Luca excitedly asked.
With that being said, the other kids started to stare at Sir Samael with anticipation in their eyes. Needless to say, it was burdensome. While it was true that they needed that kind of break, it was yet not the time to have one. They have weekends to do anything they want, why won’t they even do it on weekends? Surely they did not forget that even though they were masters of masters, they were still students at the Academy on top of everything.
Sir Samael felt that he needed to knock up some senses to his kids, who seemed to assume that they could do anything since they were above all. “Not that kind of rest. You guys do still have a role to play, remember?”
“That…” With that being said, their eyes that were filled with anticipation slowly faded away, and they remembered what they were supposed to do.
Seeing that the Exi was back in their senses, Sir Samael heaved a sigh as he looked at them with his usual serious expression. “Yes. You will be taking a rest with fighting and forget having a great potential for now. Be a normal student.”
Yes. It was that time of the year where the Exi Class should know what it takes to be a normal student.
