Prologue - Part 2

923 Words
"It's time baby girl." My father said, wrapping me up in his arms. I knew this day was coming, but I was hoping it would never come. I had just had my sixteenth birthday and our enemies were becoming more dangerous and threatening. “I’m going to miss you baby girl.” Allison said kissing me on the head, much like my father. "Remember, this is the only way to keep you safe. We can't let them find you." My father said and I nodded. I knew this. I also knew that there were even things about my life that my father had kept hidden from me to ensure my safety. I knew that when it was time my wolf Sapphire would tell me everything I needed to know. My father and his wolf telling her everything she would need to know. The reason they didn't tell me was because they wanted me to be able to be as safe as possible. I wasn't upset that I didn't know everything, if I was ever captured the information couldn't be used against me until I was old enough and strong enough to use it to my advantage. “I’ll miss you both too.” I said, before I started crying, which made both of my parents cry as well. We knew that once I left communication would be extremely rare. We had a communication plan in place, but it was through back channels and couldn’t be on the regular for fear of someone intercepting and finding me. In order for our plan to work, right as I would leave, I was to be attacked by rogues. Who were actually a couple of my grandparent’s most trusted warriors, and I wasn’t actually going to be injured. John and Jacob had been drawing my blood for months, and the warriors were bringing in a deceased rogue who had been killed a short while ago in a small attack. My blood was going to be spread on her, her face disfigured enough that no one would be able to tell it wasn’t me. There needed to be a body so that if anyone was questioned they could honestly say that they had seen me deceased. “Are you ready?” My dad asked me and I nodded. I was taking nothing with me, because no one could know I was alive and even the smallest thing could be traced back to my origins. I nodded, giving my father and mom one last hug. The plan was I was going to go for my usual run, I had a standard routine of going for an evening run. Everyone in the pack knew about it, which made it the perfect alibi. I made my way outside and took a deep breath. It was now or never. I began to run my wolf reminding me she was with me the whole time. As I made it to the spot, I slowed, hearing a branch snap I looked around to see the warriors disguised as rogues surround me. “ROGUES! West border!” I linked to the pack and I knew it would only be a matter of time before they came to my rescue. I could hear the pack link me to hold on, they’d be there soon, and I could hear them running through the forest. One of the rogue warriors grabbed me and quickly carried me across the boarder while the others finished the elaborate plan and as soon as I was across the border I renounced the pack. My father let out a long, mourn filled howl and I jumped into John and Jacobs car and we were off. I cried in the back of the car, as we drove away from my home. I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep watch over my parents and to protect them and that I would get to see them again. I took one last look at the forest of the Light Knight pack before turning around and tears steaming down my face. I could see the looks of pity that both John and Jacob were giving me in the rearview mirror and I gave them a shakey smile. I sniffled a few more times, while Sapphire purred softly in my mind to calm me. I knew she didn't want to leave my dad or Luna Allison either, but it was the right thing to do. We drove for seven hours before we pulled into a human city. We found a hotel and freshened up, I changed my clothes and John, Jacob and I did a small blood oath ceremony that cemented me as their child. It would allows us to link and mix our scents so that no one would know that I smelt any different from them. I felt their love for me the second that our bond was offically forged and that made me smile. We slept for a few hours before waking up early and heading to the airport. While we could have taken a direct flight to where we were going, we knew it was safer to travel over multiple days, and different ways so that if anyone tracked us, it would be confusing. Though we had knew identies, our first names the same, but our last names different, we knew our true enemies could find us if they really wanted. It was a long few days of traveling but we finally made it to our new pack. The Midnight Rose pack, in England.
