Present Day Evelyn/Sophie’s POV Their black tendrils pounded at my shields and were shredding at my magic, and I still held firm. I had lived in true darkness, felt the draw from it, but I also remained light. Pure, nothing could change that about me, and I refused to bow down to it today. I had fought with everything I had to remain the way I am. I wove another spell to reinforce my barrier once more. This time I had barely patched a small gap before the dark magic pierced it.
