Chapter 2

**FLASHBACK** My new room was dark and cold. The walls were made from the foundation of the pack house and the ceiling unfinished. I grabbed the hair band that I kept around my wrist and threw my hair up into a loose bun. I was extremely grateful that there was bed, a dresser, a desk, and a bathroom down here, but there was no light source. "Might as well start folding my clothes," I muttered looking at the bags that held all of my things. All of my other stuff was being donated to Goodwill and my old room was being turned into a spa and massage room for the she-wolves. I could feel the salty wetness of my tears begin to prick at the sides of my eyes and I wiped them away with my knuckle. There was no reason for me to cry because in all honesty, it could be a hell of a lot worse. Just as I was about to start folding there came a knock on my door. I quickly opened the door and smiled slightly when I saw that it was Conner. "Hello Beta," I kept my eyes on the ground in a sign of respect. It was another stupid law that Jared had instituted for the pack. If you weren't in any leadership position, you were no longer allowed to call the Alpha, Beta, Omega or their mates by their names. It was simply "sir", "ma'am", "Alpha", or "Beta." Conner let out a low growl and ran a hand through his hair showing his frustration. "Ali you don't have to call me that," he kept his voice low that way Jared couldn't hear us. "You know I hate being called Beta." it was true too. Conner hated it when someone in the pack called him "Beta" instead of using his name. "These new laws are f*****g stupid." I only nodded in agreement in fear that Jared was using his enhanced listening to keep tabs on our conversation. "What do you need Sir?" I asked with my eyes still on the ground and concentrating on my toes. Something told me that Jared was listening and I didn't want to be the one to get in trouble. Conner sighed and shook his head sadly. "The Alpha," he put emphasis on the word "Alpha" and said it in a loud voice. "Wanted me to tell you that there will be a guard posted here at all times," that didn't really surprise me though. "And that someone will bring you your meals and accompany you everywhere you go." Now I really was a prisoner here. I could feel the beating of my heart getting faster and faster as a feeling of overwhelming sadness over took my being. As my heart sank to my stomach, I felt Conner touch my shoulder. "You'll be okay kid," and with that he turned on his heel and headed back up the stairs. I shut the door and slid down until I felt the cool floor beneath me. My head lay back against the door as the tears that I had tried to keep down made their way out. I didn't even bother wiping them away knowing that more would just replace them. It seemed like it was only a matter of minutes before I heard the door lock shut and laughter floating away. **End flashback** And that was my life for the next year and a half. I was now homeschooled by a tutor that Jared hired and when it came time for me to graduate, all I was given was my diploma. No party, no congratulations, nothing. Just I and all the things that I had done in the last year that helped me get to where I was. I think you all get the story now, so back to the matters at hand. It had become deathly quiet in the woods with the exception being my own breathing and the crunch of dead and dry leaves under my feet. I was still on alert because I knew that the warriors were still following on the perimeter of the area where I was at in the woods. I may be human, but I most certainly am NOT stupid. I was about to start walking in a different direction when four wolves stepped out and proceeded to shift back into human form. I rolled my eyes when I saw that it was Brent, Jacob, Kyle, and Mark. These four were hardcore loyalists to Jared, agreeing with him on everything. They all smirked at me as the other warriors now surrounding me. "Well well well, it looks like your little attempt to get away failed." No s**t Sherlock! "The Alpha has plans for you now Alivia." I narrowed my eyes and crossed my arms over my chest. "In fact, he and the Beta are on their way now." "I can't wait," was my sarcastic reply. I knew that Conner couldn't give away his true feelings, so the chance of me getting out this unharmed with about a million to one. We didn't have to wait long before Conner and Jared stepped out from the trees behind us. They were both dressed in jeans that were slung low in their hips with no shirt to cover their eight pack, washboard abs. "We've caught her Alpha," Brent said while bowing down in respect.
