Chapter 3

Jared merely grunted in response, his eyes dark. I knew that look all too well and it scared the s**t out of me. His wolf was pissed and wanted nothing more than to discipline me. I found myself backing up in fear as he stepped closer and closer to me. I knew that there was nothing I could do and it was best for me to just stay quiet and submit to whatever he wanted. Jared's long arm reached out toward me, firmly grasping onto my forearm and dragging me to him. Now I was flush with his chest and let me tell you, he was RIPPED! Not that it excited me at all. "What're you going to do with her Alpha?" someone asked in the crowd. A shiver ran down my spine as Jared kept his face guarded, calculating in his mind. Clearing his throat, Jared gripped my arm even tighter and turned us so that we were facing the warriors. "I have yet to decide on Alivia's fate. Now that she has been apprehended, we can return to the pack house." There was a collective gasp from some of the men. They had been expecting Jared to sentence me to death or something along the lines of cruel. Even I was surprised that he didn't have a punishment thought out for me. Still in Jared's steel grip, we walked silently through the forest. Most of the warriors had shifted back into their wolves and were keeping an eye out for rogues. Conner was on my left, Brent on my right, and Mark behind me. I was losing feeling in my arm and I wiggled it a bit to try and regain that feeling back. Jared snapped his head back in my direction when I moved my arm and I glared at him. He relaxed his grip a little bit, but didn't say anything else. Thirty minutes later we arrived back at the pack house. The tension in the air was so thick that I felt like I could cut it with a knife. Jared led me inside to the living room, motioning for Conner to lock the doors. "Everyone is dismissed for the evening," people proceeded to leave the living room and heading various directions. The only ones left were I, Jared, Conner, and Brent. There was a pull on my arm causing me to turn. Jared yanked again and I was once again being dragged along. He walked us to his study and finally let go of my arm. I rubbed my arm and saw the beginnings of a bruise. 'Stupid brute,' I thought to myself thankful that they couldn't hear my thoughts or else I'd be in even more trouble than I am now. I made the mistake of looking up at the moment and saw that Jared was staring at me intently. His mocha brown eyes made my heart race and the way the moonlight hit his gorgeous, slightly messy hair almost brought me to my knees. He was the most gorgeous man alive and I couldn't have him. For one, I wasn't his mate and two, Jared Oscar has an unyielding hate for humans. "What you did tonight Alivia broke pack law and the punishment is normally death," Jared began as he leaned back against his desk. "But in your case, death is an unfair punishment." At least he has some kind of common sense in that head of his! I nibbled on my bottom lip, scared of what he was going to say next. "Now there are two things that can happen, if you so choose." What in the hell was he talking about? I threw him a questioning look and he returned it with a smirk. "But Alpha, she deliberately disobeyed your law," Brent began from his spot against the wall. See what I mean? He's all for killing humans and all that jazz. Jared's gaze never left mine and I could feel the others burning a hole in my back. "She deserves death!" "Who is Alpha of this pack Brent?" Jared asked in a calm voice. Even though the question wasn't directed at me, I shivered anyways. The way his voice came out would make anyone shiver. With his head hung low Brent replied, "You are Sir." "That's right. And who makes the laws?" "You Sir," I didn't know what kind of game Jared was playing, but I was sure that I didn't want to have a major role in it. Jared smirked harshly and his eyes went black again. "That is right. Never question my authority again Brent!" He turned his attention back to me and pushed himself off the desk. Jared's steps were slow and his gaze was a calculating one. "I bet you're wondering what I have planned for you," he says as he places a finger under my chin and forces me to look up at him. I dare not to make a sound or make any sudden movement. It looked like I'm going to be a part of Jared's game after all.
