Damon and I don't wait long when we hear the other three guys coming our way. They all look a bit disgruntled and of course the black haired guy looks pîssed off.
“So first off let's have formal introductions, shall we?" Asks Damon. “My name is Damon Allan O'Connor." He states. “Jacob Paul Lewis." Says the blond guy. “Nathan Ryan Van Blair." The black haired guy proudly states.
“Hi. My name is Maya Lynn Russell." I said to make sure they all knew. “So now what?" Asks the impatient Nathan.
“How about we go back to the academy? We can get comfortable and find out what is going on and make some decisions from there.” Says Dimitri.
Sounds like a good plan except if I go with them then I won't have a way to escape if they decide to imprison me. I think to myself. “How do I know that I won't come to any harm if I go with you?" I question.
“I will personally guarantee that you will be safe and will bind myself to you until you feel safe." Says Damon in a solemn voice. “What!!!" Shouts the other three guys with shocked voices. “Why would you say that? What were you thinking?" Asks Dimitri. “She needs reassurance and to be honest if feels right. Like it's something that I should do." Damon says in a calm voice.
I'm not sure what's going on, but I know that it's important. “What did that mean and why are the others freaking out?" I question Damon.
“It means that I am in your service until you feel safe. If any harm comes to you or the vow is broken by myself then I will die." He simply states. “In other words, we cannot put you in the dungeons at all due to this." Snarls Nathan while looking at me with accusing eyes.
“Why would you do this for me? You hardly know me and we all have questions on what's going on. I can't be responsible for your death." I say with worry in my voice. “You won't be responsible for his death... you'll be responsible for all of our deaths now." Declared Nathan. “By doing this, Damon, you have killed us all.”
“Wait one second, how are you three involved if he is the one who bound himself to me?” I question as I'm getting extremely confused and scared. I don't want their lives in my hands at all.
“Lets go to the academy and get comfortable since that is one of the things that you'll need to know. Especially now that some of us are implosive." Sighs Jacob. Why didn't I do it first? She would have seen me as her hero if I did... Dãmn a missed chance with her, thought Jacob.
“I want to know now. I can't have your deaths on my conscience. Please tell me what's going on." I plead with the guys. “We are a pack and by making a pack we have made it so that we are one in a sense. Since Damon has bound himself to you, he has bound the pack to you. If anyone of us hurts you it would be the same as if he hurt you. If you get hurt then we all die.” Says Dimitri while running his fingers through his hair. “I see. So basically I now have your protection but if for some reason I get hurt I will have your deaths on my conscience. Thank you Damon for binding me to the pack, I just wish that there was a different way though." I say this with worry in my voice.
We all have agreed to go to the academy and on the way, I look at the scenery and notice how beautiful the forest is. I see different types of trees and plants all around but it's not so dense that you feel lost and afraid. The sun comes through the trees a bit and the flowers sway a bit in the gentle breeze. I'm loving the walk even though it is a long one. I must have ran farther than I thought. How is that possible since I was barely winded, and I'm not in shape? Maybe the survival instinct kicking in. I internally conclude.
We finally make it back to the academy and to be honest it doesn't seem that big. I would say a three story house is all. “How is this an academy when it is so small? Where do you have the classrooms and the assembly room?" I question.
“This isn't the academy. This is the gatehouse and you have to go past this area to get to the academy. We are on the academy border.” Says Nathan like I've asked a stûpid question. “So a gatehouse without a gate or wall... yeah that was sooo obvious!" I respond with sarcasm dripping from my voice.
The others are laughing their bûtts off and Nathan is fuming. “Do you have to be so brãtty all the time?” Questions Nathan. I can tell that he is frustrated with the situation and is an all around a grumpy guy.
“I just stated the obvious. I mean come on you acted like it was a 'no brainier' when you said that it was a gatehouse. News flash, it wasn't and so I called you on it. You can't take it then don't dish it. Simple." I comment this while trying to figure out where we would be entering the house.
“The door is this way. I must say Maya, I've never seen anyone put Nathan in his place so nicely. They normally scream or get frustrated and storm off. Well done!" Says Dimitri while pointing to the left side of the house. We get to the door and go through to find the same room that I had escaped from. It was cleaned up from the mess that I had made.
Everyone sits down, and we all stare at each other wondering who will start the discussion. How would the discussion be started? We are all completely confused.
Out of nowhere there is a pop like sound and there appears three beautiful women. All three are blond and have on dresses that are flowing white and are all different styles. One is strapless, another crosses one shoulder, and the last one is a sleeveless with wide shoulder straps.
“Hello, we are the fates from Maya's world and we have come to clear the questions on your minds. First off is that Maya came from a world known as Earth. She had a difficult life and so when she died we looked into her soul to see if it had made her bitter, angry, or a person with bad tendencies. What we found surprised us, she held none of those things and tried her best during her life. She deserved another chance so we were going to give it to her. We were going to have her reborn into her old world when something came to our attention. In her previous life she would have vivid dreams that came true. Everyone said that it couldn't be, because there is no magic in her world, but it was true. We looked some more and realized that her soul was marked a long time ago, many lifetimes before. We don't know why she was marked but we identified the mark as being from this world." Says the first woman.
“Each world has its own set of fates and how they deal with their world's are each different. When someone from Earth dies, then we decide if they will be reborn and what kind of life they will have. We have never had someone cross worlds so it is a problem that both the fates of this world and the three of us will have to get together and figure out what happened and why. We do however, have Gods and Goddesses that make the decisions for the major events such as the prophecy. They are the ones who marked your soul, Maya. If we can't figure out what happened to Maya then we will be visiting them and finding out what they know." Informs the first woman.
“We dug around our archives and found what had happened to Maya but not why. Maya was abducted and sent to earth four lifetimes ago. At that time she had a mark on her soul and also on her physical form. We believe that she was sent to our world because of the mark." Explained the second woman.
“Maya then lived her life and the other lives not know about this world and her different powers. As you are Fae, your power comes from within and the world at the same time. Her new world had no power so she couldn't use what she had except for the visions. They treat anyone who believes in magic as an insane person so she didn't practice her magic of visions for four lifetimes. We were remiss and didn't realize that she shouldn't have been at the world to begin with because we didn't look deeply into her soul. We were somehow deceived when she had her first life on Earth. We didn't see in that life that she didn't start the life on Earth. We saw her life but didn't see her begining and we didn't stop to check why not. Normally, a soul has a life and the choices that they make in that life determines what their next life will be like, but this time was different. For some reason her life was more than hard so we looked harder at her soul. We are sorry, Maya." Says the third woman.
“How can this be? I have no mark on me. Maybe you got the wrong person? Also, why would you imply that magic and Fae are real?" I question trying to come to terms with what all was being said. Does fate truly exist? Why would they care about my life when thousands have it so much worse? I wonder to myself.
“Fate does exist and we looked at your life because yours was not supposed to be a hard life. That life was to be an easy life full of happiness, but for some reason that we are still investigating it wasn't. When we had first found out that it wasn't, that's when we looked deeper. You are meant to be here. We didn't give you the mark this time due to the danger that it would put you in. We also found the perfect pack to place you with.
“BlueMoon Pack, you have been selected for your courage, commitment, and love for your fellow people. We chose you because even though we are not the fates of this world, we could tell that you have a mate out there and that this will help you to find her. For some reason, when you four tested for your mates, it showed that you didn't have one." Says the second fate.
“Why would that that happen if we have mates out there?” Asks Damon.
“The mate stones are linked to the kings. They know when a group has the same mate and they have been killing that mate if a group shares one. They knew that the prophecy was of a pack that were all mates, which is why they are so strong together. They couldn't have packs stronger than them so they used the no mates as an excuse. Most members of a pack, well all but your pack, have had mates that have died or rejected them. That is not the case for you four and that is why the kings are so happy with you four. You couldn't possibly be the chosen pack. We don't know if it was your fates or the goddess of this world that hid your mate from the kings. Train Maya and introduce her to this world. Have her go through the academy and we will work on our end to find the answers to this puzzle." Said the first fate.
“Why can I remember dying? Also if they have a mate out there how will we find her for them?" I question even if it felt uncomfortable thinking of them with someone else.
“We gave you your memories so that we can figure out what went wrong with your last life." Says the third fate.
“We must go now before our magic is noticed. Our magic is different since Earth is different and the kings will be able to tell the difference. We don't want to cause problems for your pack if the kings find out that there is a foreign magic here. Take care of each other and we will come with more information later.” The third sister had just finished what she was saying when they disappeared.
Well that wasn't expected at all. We are all looking at each other trying to see how we were all taking the big bomb that had just gone off. I can honestly say that I'm a little freaked out. I just found out that Fae were real, that I have magic, that I've had at least four lives, and that I came from this world.
What does this all mean? How did I get to Earth from here. Is it the kings that want me gone or is there another enemy out there? Also why would they say for me to train at the academy if I'm supposed to be hiding? I think these thoughts as more and more questions come. What will happen now?
Will I even be safe?
