Chapter 5

1743 Words
We all are still sitting and thinking of the different things that we've heard. I was trying to get my thoughts in order so that I could process them correctly. First, I died and then I woke up in a strange room with a guy that I've never met before. Then three more guys show up, and I feel a pull to them but think that they are insane. I defend myself and then run and hide. I feel at home in the woods and then find out that the guys aren't so bad and one even risks all of their lives for me. Next, we head to the academy and find out that there are multiple groups of fates as there are multiple worlds. We also find out that not only am I supposed to be here but also that I'm in danger here. We have been given the task of getting me caught up on not only my magic but also the different things of this world. We also found out that the guys have a mate and that they would be sharing her or him. (I'm not sure if they swing that way or not) With my thoughts sorted came one final thought. What do we do next and how do we do it? “So I believe I have the best option for our task," Says Damon. “Wait a minute, that's what you were thinking about? Dude, we have a mate out there that we need to find and make sure that she is safe." Says Jacob. “I believe that when the time comes for us to meet her, that we will. Right now we need to focus on Maya and getting her into the academy. I have a plan for that." Damon says with a calm voice. He seems to always think things through and then calmly explains and acts. It's very comforting. “We tell the Headmaster that we came across Maya and that she had been injured. Her head had severe injuries and that she has lost her memories. We can suggest that we start with the basics with her as if she is a new student." He explains. “He will then have no choice, because she will need to be educated. We will say that we had to bind ourselves to her for her healing. By saying that, we can still help her with her training. This will also allow us to be able to make sure that she is doing ok." He finishes. I like the plan but there are a few holes in it, so I ask about them. “What about my age? Also there is the issue that if you say that you are bound to me won't that upset your mate when you find her? Another big issue is that I don't look Fae and people will notice." I voiced my concerns and waited for anyone to answer me. The response I got was completely unexpected. “You are a gorgeous twenty year old Fae. You look the part and that is the perfect age to join the academy." Stated Nathan. “I'm not twenty though. I'm thirty-six years old. Also what makes a Fae look like a Fae?" I ask as I'm really curious. “Fae have pointed ears that stop getting pointed at twenty-five which is also the age we stop aging. Also, we have skin that has a slight glow to it. The glow will depend on the element that you have. I have a bit of a purple glow, which is why my hair looks purple, as I'm an air Fae. Dimitri has a green glow for earth, Nathan a red glow for fire, and a blue glow for Jacob as he is water Fae." States Damon. “So you are saying that not only do I have pointed ears, but I glow as well?" I ask. This is not possible. I've seen myself in the mirror many times and it just isn't how I look. I think to myself. “Have you not looked into the mirror since waking up?" Asked Dimitri. Well they have me there... I haven't, and I should. I once again think to myself. I get up and head to the mirror that is over the dresser. I look mostly the same as before with some minor differences. My hair is thicker and shiny. It reaches about to the middle of my back and has a slight wave to it. It isn't frizzy and looks wonderful. My ears peak from my hair and they have a slight point to them. My skin, that was once pale, as they portray vampires on earth, is still pale but it has a silvery glow look to it, not Edward sparkling, but a slight glow that make me look like I'm shimmering. I died and things have changed about me. Not everything but somethings have, and I need to start expecting it and start embracing the new me. I thought. “What are you guys doing? You can't be seriously giving into a pull that was put there for safety can you? We have a mate out there that we need. I refuse to replace my mate with this makeshift bond. She may be beautiful, but she doesn't compare to our mate." Declared Jacob. He is very set on this and seems to be getting angry at the other guys for not dropping everything and start looking for their mate. To be honest, I'm a little hurt as he has completely thrown any thought of helping me aside. Don't get me wrong, I want him to find his mate and live a happy life. I just thought that we had a connection, and he seemed like the most open to it. “Here is what we are going to do, We will go with Damon's plan minus the binding part. I will participate in the academy as a new student and the cover will protect me from the kings. You guys can check on me from time to time but mainly you should do whatever missions that you have for the kings.” I say all this and still don't understand half of what's going on, but I know two things. One, I never want to come between the pack and their mate and two, I don't want them to divide over me. I may be new to this world but this is something that is a core belief, and I would have it in any world. I put on a brave face as this is all new to me but one, I'm not a coward and two, I don't want to end up hurt by the guys and them all die. I have decided to build walls around my heart and soul so that I don't depend on this pack and end up being hurt. I can't stand the thought of hurting them. “You have no idea what you have just done, Jacob. You will later regret it," Says Dimitri. Jacob snorts at that and walks out of the room. I wish that I knew more of everything but it looks like it will have to wait for the academy. “Can we go to the Headmaster now?" I questioned. “I'd like to get myself settled in, and I feel like you guys need some time to talk and figure out what you as a pack will be doing. What missions to go on, ect." I say all of this politely but deep inside I'm trying my hardest to not be hurt by Jacob. Damon's vow still has a hold, and I need it gone so that when they find their mate, I don't end up killing them by being hurt. I try to think of different way that I can make it so that I won't get hurt and end up killing them, but I can't seem to come up with anything. My walls will only last for so long, and I've started to get to know the guys a bit and already feel like I could like each one for different reasons, so what would happen if I spend more time with them and let the bond grow? I'd end up hurt and, therefore, kill them. So basically, I have to avoid them until I can get the bond broken. I wonder who would know anything about breaking the bond... I thought. I then think of the one person that knows my situation and knows about this world. He also isn't opposed to me breaking the bond, since he wants that done as soon as possible anyways. Jacob. He wants to search for his mate, and I'm just an hindrance. I'll ask him how to break the bond and make it so they can be free to look for their mate. I go outside and look for Jacob. Surely he hasn't gotten far. I find him a little ways away from the gatehouse and as I'm walking up to him he glares at me. Yeah... he definitely has decided that I'm a bad person. So much can change in such a short time. I feel sick about what I'm about to ask him, but I do anyways. “How do I break the protection bond?" I ask him. “Why do you want to know? You want us to protect you and help you don't you? No matter the cost to us? Why should I help you even more?" He demands. He is angry but for some reason he is pointing the anger at me. “I want you and your pack to be free from the bond so that you can look for your mate. I don't want to come between you all. I plan on staying here and learning as much as possible so I should be safe anyways." I explain to him. He looks at me and tries to figure out if I'm being honest with him. “This is my only option." I said. Jacob looks confused. I guess by me wanting to set the pack free of myself, I have proven him wrong in his assumption that I'm a clingy woman that only wants protection, not matter the cost to them. I'm not this way. I never have been and never will be. Is it my only option? I guess we'll see.
