"Let's talk" my beautiful smart mate suggested but talking was the last thing I wanted to do with her standing so close to me again, after she's been gone for almost a week.
"Ok, I guess I will go first" I said and they nodded "Why did you kidnap her when all you had to do was present yourself?" The King cleared his throat
"Because I was afraid she would reject me before she knew me personally and I didn't kidnap her, I saved her." I see Edrea look at him with sad eyes and I hated that he was able to grab her heart during the little time she has spent with him. I'd hope would've taken longer for her to accept him as her mate because I wanted more time.
"Why? Why not give it a chance? Are you truly just a coward pretending to be all mighty and strong? That's why you created the contact with my father?" I blurted out
"No, it's complicated" He huffs
"Then break it down" I said slowly "Fast because the army I came with is getting restless. The Queen is trying to mind link me and if I don't respond in 5 minutes, they will attack." The King growls and Edrea looks worried
"You dare come here with your army waiting to strike innocent people all because you can't seem to protect your Mate." he growled "f*****g mutt"
"BAROT" Edrea yelled at him
"Stay out of this" He yelled at her
"No, I want the truth laid out right now." She stood up and walked over to him. "No more questions, start from the beginning and tell me everything." Edrea held the Kings hands and I wished it was my hands she held at this very moment and forever.
"Everything?" He asked with concern, she nodded her head and I smiled knowing that this is the time where I can take Edrea away from him because she will be too hurt to be around him. I don't care what my mother told me to do, I will take care of her without him crowding our space.
He huffed and let it all out and by the time he finished, Edrea was crying in my chest. I wanted the truth to come out but I didn't want her in this energy. I didn't think she would take it so hard, I mean she's always been so tough.
I rubbed her back and whispered sweet things in her ear until she calmed down. Her cries became hiccups and her breathing went from rapid to deep inner ones. I waited for a little, pulled her back, she looked up at me and smiled.
"I am happy you're here" She made a sobbing sound and dug her head back into my chest.
"Edrea please, don't reject me, please" The King choked on his words as tears welled up in his eyes "I didn't know any better, I was so determined to finally have a mate. I was willing to do any and everything to get you by my side that I didn't consider the consequences. I truly apologize my love and hope that you can find forgiveness in your heart."
"Just stop talking" I frowned at him "Your five minutes are up"
"Wait" Edrea touched my chest and I looked at her "Their are innocent people out there. Creatures of all different species, destroying them is like destroying a world within a world. Call off the attack " She gently said to me but it was too late the Queen just announced they are moving in.
"I do apologize my love but they have already moved in and his people are already fighting back. Unless his men stand down along with ours then I am unable to stop the fight." She nodded and looked at Barot
"On it" he said and we both mind linked all members of both sides to stop attacking each other. That their was a misunderstanding and everything was cleared up now. Knowing that is far from the truth when it comes to us three.
"Good, now" Edrea started to say
"Oh no, we need to get to the front gate now" The king yelled towards us "Where is that fairy when I need her?"
"Why? what's wrong?" I panic
"There's a kid that just received his ability two days ago" The King gulps
"Ok, well if he is a wolf then he will easily be..." I was cut off
"He's not a Wolf he's a got damn dragon" He yelled and my eyes shot wide and Edrea gasp
"No, not that kind. Anyone but them" Edrea pleaded and hoped but the King just sighed "We need to go now!" She yelled grabbing my hand as we walked towards him. She grabbed his hand "Hold on" was all I remembered before a vortex of colors and flower petals appeared.
By time I registered what was going on we was at the front gate. We turned around to his people trying to calm the beast but it was too late. He caught the sight of a warrior and all his rage went wild.
The warrior turned and ran straight towards us, trying to get away. The beast chest lit up and everything went still. It was like the whole world froze into one place. I looked around to see the King and Edrea smirking.
"What is going on? How are you doing this?" I looked at the King
"Oh, this isn't me. This is our beautiful Mate doing all the work" He smiled, grabbing her waist and pulling her in. Pecking her on the forehead "Isn't she brilliant?" I can see the blush rising through her chocolate skin
"Amazing, I might add" Making her smile
"Thank you both, my loves" She said kissing the Kings cheek, coming over to me to mirror the same action. "But I need you both to get out of the way or move closer to me. I do not want his fire to burn you" we both moved closer to her as she moved closer to the screen in front of us, everything and everyone frozen but us.
"He is that powerful already?" I asked
"Yes, on his first day transforming he almost burned down half the forest due to some kids bullying him and he wasn't half as mad" I gulped at the news.
"So what do we do?" I asked
"We let our mate do what she was born to do" She looked back at him and smiled "I believe in you"
"Thank you" She replied and kissed his cheek. I rolled my eyes and faced forward. 'You need to accept him' Echos in my head and I sigh knowing I would be a monster if I tried to break their connection. I needed to trust in our destiny and leave my ego behind. "Lets do this" She broke my thoughts and before I knew it
"RUN" someone yelled and there it was... A ball of fire heading straight for.....
