Prologue
In the beginning, there was nothing.
Not even passing of time, only empty darkness.
But even when there was nothing, there was always Her.
Terra, Goddess of all. Omnipotent and eternal.
Tired of the endless loneliness, she decided to give herself companions. She took half of herself and harvested in her belly, which grew as her companions did.
From her came two deities, her children. She named the girl Selene and the boy Sol. As she held them both, one in each arm, she felt something warm in her heart. A beautiful emotion that had never existed before. Love. For the first time, love was felt from a mother's heart.
Terra created a world where she and her children could live forever together. She filled the world with harvest and animals for her children to play with. They lived in peace for an unimaginable long time.
The Goddess thought they could live happily ever after, but she was wrong.
As Selene and Sol grew older, they grew stronger. Equal but opposites. Selene was passive and gentle as Sol was ambitious and aggressive. Sol wanted to be strong like his mother, but he knew that was not possible. He was only a half of half of her.
No longer able to bear the greed, Sol attempted to steal his sister’s powers.
Terra, the all-knowing, stopped him but it was already too late. He was already lost. She knew that he would never stop until he took Selene’s power.
Seeing no other option, she sealed Sol away into the sky, turning him into the light of day where his burning greed would shine forever. Unfortunately, Selene refused to continue without her brother. Even with his evil, she loved him. Terra turned her into the moon and sent her to the sky next to Sol. To ensure that Sol never harmed her again she made it so that they would never rise together.
The mother could never return to living alone. She retreated into the world she created out of love for her children and fell into an eternal slumber.
But so strong were the emotions the three had created that they remained on Earth. From those emotions man formed and inhabited the world created by Terra. Each human is born with anger, sorrow, greed, love, and the knowledge of their origin. Selene was worshiped as the Goddess of peace and the moon. Sol was the God of war and the sun. Terra will be known as the Goddess of love and earth.
Always together but forever apart.
It is said that one day Sol will return and finish what he started.
