Episode 1
The scent hit Aria like a train, freezing her in place as she stood at the entrance of the grand ballroom. Sandalwood, citrus, and something uniquely wild – her mate. After years of waiting, she'd finally found him.
Her heart raced as her eyes scanned the crowd, searching for the source. Then she saw him – tall, devastatingly handsome, radiating power. Alpha Damon Blackwood, the notorious werewolf billionaire who ruled the city's underworld.
Their eyes met across the room, and for a moment, the world stood still. Electricity crackled between them, an undeniable pull urging them together. Aria took a step forward, hope blooming in her chest.
But then she saw the woman draped possessively on his arm, diamond ring glittering on her finger. Damon's eyes widened in recognition, then hardened into cold disdain. He turned away, deliberately pulling his fiancée closer.
Aria's world shattered. Rejected. Unwanted. The pain was unbearable.
As tears threatened to fall, a strong hand gripped her elbow. "Are you alright, miss?" a deep voice asked.
She looked up into concerned golden eyes. Another Alpha, she realized. One who smelled of danger and secrets.
"I'm fine," Aria lied, straightening her spine. "And you are?"
His lips curved into a predatory smile. "Zane Constantine. And I believe you and I have much to discuss about our mutual... acquaintance."
Aria's eyes narrowed. "What do you know about Damon?"
Zane's gaze flickered to where Damon stood with his fiancée, his expression darkening. "More than most. Including why he just rejected his true mate."
The words hit Aria like a physical blow. She swayed on her feet, and Zane's hand tightened on her elbow, steadying her.
"Perhaps we should take this conversation somewhere more private," he murmured, guiding her towards a secluded balcony.
As they walked, Aria felt Damon's eyes burning into her back. She resisted the urge to turn around, instead focusing on the warmth of Zane's hand on her arm and the questions swirling in her mind.
Once outside, the cool night air helped clear her head. Aria took a deep breath, then faced Zane. "Alright, talk. Why would Damon reject his mate?" While Aria was curious, she wasn't sure what to believe. The blow of Damon rejecting her so coldly was still fresh. Her heart was drawn to him. All she wanted to do was turn and run to him. Hug him. Be held by him. She knew she had been missing something all her life, and that was Damon. Just seeing her healed her broken heart, but that doesn't mean he didn't break it as well.
Zane leaned against the balcony railing, his posture deceptively casual. "It's not by choice. Damon's engaged to the daughter of a rival pack. It's a political marriage, one that's supposed to end decades of bloodshed between our kinds."
"But surely finding his true mate changes things?" Aria asked, hope fluttering in her chest despite her best efforts to squash it.
Zane's golden eyes softened with sympathy. "It should. But Damon's always put duty before his own desires. Breaking the engagement could restart the war, costing countless lives."
Aria's shoulders slumped. "So where does that leave me?"
A dangerous glint entered Zane's eyes. "That depends on you, little wolf. Are you willing to fight for what's yours? Because I have a proposition that could change everything – for you, for Damon, and for the future of our packs."
Before Aria could respond, a commotion from inside the ballroom caught their attention. Raised voices, the sound of breaking glass, then a pain-filled howl that Aria recognized instinctively as Damon's.
She was moving before she could think, racing back inside with Zane hot on her heels. The scene that greeted them was chaos – guests scattering, security swarming, and in the center of it all, Damon on his knees, clutching his chest as blood seeped between his fingers.
His fiancée stood over him, a bloody knife in her hand and a triumphant smile on her face. Aria panicked, she felt her fingers burning, her wolf urging her to take action.
Aria's wolf surged forward, a growl ripping from her throat. Mate. Protect. As she lunged towards Damon, only one thought echoed in her mind:
Nothing would ever be the same again.
