Eva was shocked to the core, what did she hear Carter say just now?

“Wife? What do you mean by wife? I am your wife. Who is the intruder??”. Eva asked with a shaking voice scared of what she just heard.

“Yes, you heard me, Victoria is the love of my life, she is my business partner who has supported me over the years.”

“Carter, what do you mean she supported you over the years? I am your wife. I don't even know who she is, I have supported you from the beginning of your company. I have done everything a wife does. So who is she?.” she said with a little annoyance now.

“She is Victoria, the love of my life and my fiance. Our wedding is in 3 months. That is all you need to know” Carter interrupted her abruptly.

“You cannot take in another wife, I am your wife and not this p********e you picked up from the street….”. The next thing Eva felt was the hot slap on her cheek.

“How dare you refer to my queen as a p********e?. Vic my love you might want to go into the sitting room while I handle the drama queen, i will get her to leave and then we will live our lives just the way we want .”

“Okay baby” Victoria responded to Eva's surprise and left for the sitting room.

“I know you didn't sign the divorce yet but you are going to sign it today mark my words” Carter left the room to find the divorce paper he was going to force Eva to sign.

Eva was too shocked to move. She didn't believe her eyes, Carter hit her because of a stranger. A man she spent 4 years trying to please just destroyed everything and her life. She knew he was not falling out of love or at least not showing her love anymore but she didn't know he was a monster.

Eva was unhappy 3 months into the marriage but she put in every little effort to make it work, she used to believe it was stress from work as starting a company from scratch is not easy but then it was not the stress.

Eva sat on the chair, she prayed everything happening would just be nothing but a dream, she could hear her heart beat loud as a drum being played in a concert as she began to panic.

Everything seems louder, she found it hard to breathe or swallow her saliva. The footsteps of Carter storming to the dining room made everything worse for her.

Is he going to force her to sign the papers, is he going to punish her, is he going to hit her. These thoughts made Eva lose sense of her feet and arms. She could not wrap her head around the upcoming 10 minutes about to unravel.

Eva stared at the door leading to the living room where she believed Victoria would be seated waiting for her to be thrown out of the house for her comfort.

A p********e waiting to be comfortable in a place where she called her family home. This is no longer a place she can call home.

Carter is about to rip everything apart all she could do is wait for it to be over.

The louder Carter’s footsteps became, the harder it became for Eva to breathe. He is coming to end it, everything she prayed against is about to unfold right in front of her eyes.
