Chapter Two: The first meeting (I)

Lucas swept his dark, obsidian eyes over the people in the meeting room.

Terrifying!!!

The old executives trembled in their seats.

“If you can’t even do your jobs properly then why am I paying you??!!” The voice thundered, sounding like it came from hell.

“W….we are very sorry. We tri…..we tried to keep the losses as low as it can be, but we….we failed Sir” The head of the marketing department stuttered.

“You failed to keep the losses low? What happened to not having losses at all?” Lucas asked in a low voice.

One thing his employees knew about him was the lower his voice was, the angrier he was.

They all held their breaths at that moment, terrified of what was to come.

“This should be the last time this is happening, if it happens again, just send your resignation letter yourself!!!!”Lucas roared and left in annoyance.

The executives wiped their brows. Too terrifying. They almost peed on themselves back there.

Lucas Hamilton, the most terrifying businessman in continent F. He was known to be very cold and heartless.

The most intimidating and arrogant CEO in history.

His cold and perfectionist character made him push his staff to the extreme. He was a workaholic and had high expectations of his staff. And that was how he was able to achieve everything he had, hard work.

Lucas had just buried himself in his work when his phone rang.

“Grandpa” he called out to the person on the other side.

“Lucas, how many times have I told you not to just bury yourself in work and not take a good rest? Your mother even complained you’ve not been home in so long. Do you want to be the death of me??!!” A nagging old voice sounded.

Lucas massaged his forehead and said in a voice filled with a hint of indulgence “Grandpa, I know I promised to come home yesterday, but something came up so I’m sorry. I’ll make it up to you, I promise!”

“Hmph, who cares if you come home or not !!!” the man tried to act tough but the excitement in his voice betrayed him.

“Yeah, yeah I know you don’t need me after all, so I can go back to work now.” Lucas retorted.

“This child…….whatever!!!!” Beep beep beep

The old man hung up.

Lucas sighed and went back to work.

He was exhausted, he hadn't had a good sleep in weeks.

“Olivia!!” He called out to his secretary.

She walked in struttingly putting on a short tight skirt that was way above her knees, opened her shirt's first two buttons to show cleavage, and six-inch high heels!!!

Lucas stared in disdain at her outfit but decided to let it slide for now.

“What’s my schedule for this week ”

“Uhm, you have an inspection scheduled for tomorrow at Grandeur Hotel……..” Lucas watched as she spoke coquettishly, disgusting him even more.

She tried to move closer to him, but Lucas continued watching her. Taking his attitude as an approval, she reached for his hand.

It was at that moment Lucas snapped.

“Did you go through all the necessary procedures before you became my secretary??!” He said coldly. Olivia was taken aback and she wanted to explain but Lucas cut her off coldly

“Firstly, your outfit looks quite cheap and your perfume makes me wanna puke” Lucas stood up and continued “ I don’t know if you think you're here for a fashion show, but I don’t want a secretary who has no good attitude to work and is all dressed up like a w***e!!!!”

Olivia could not control her tears and ran out of the office even tripping because of her tight skirt and heels!!!

Ryan, his assistant sighed and went inside the office.

“Boss.”

“Get me another secretary,” Lucas said while wiping his hands even though she didn’t touch him.

Ryan sighed inwardly.

“Okay Sir, I’ll do that as soon as possible.” He said and made to leave when Lucas called him back.

“Make sure they undergo an intense training, I don’t want what happened today to happen again. If it does, I’ll hold you responsible.” Lucas instructed. Ryan answered and left the office quickly.

Lucas was planning to leave the office when his best friend Aiden strolled in.

“Hey buddy, what’s up??!!” Aiden has a warm and sunny personality, unlike Lucas who is very cold and keeps people at arm’s length.

Lucas looked at him coldly but Aiden was not affected as they’ve known each other all their lives.

“Hey, stop looking at me like you ate something sour,” Aiden said cheekily.

Lucas:???!!

“Come with me to the club ton…….”Lucas interrupted him coldly “No.”

“You know sometimes I wonder if you were made of flesh and blood!!” Aiden sulked.

“And I wonder if you even have any plans for your life rather than wasting it clubbing!” Lucas retorted.

Aiden was flabbergasted for a moment then he started throwing a tantrum.

“You, you, I thought you were my friend how can you say such hurtful words to me??!!”He said in an aggrieved tone.

“If you took your life a little bit more seriously, I wouldn’t have anything to say to you!!” Lucas replied in a cold voice.

Aiden was speechless!!!

He sat on the couch in the office playing games while Lucas was working. He had to work a little bit overtime because of Aiden’s presence.

Aiden felt bored and somehow managed to drag Lucas out under the guise that he was hungry.

Meanwhile, Adrianna stayed at the hospital for a month for observation and finally, she was discharged.

While she was at the hospital, her brother and Mia stayed with her a lot because they were scared she was going to do something stupid.

Jenny came to look for her a couple of times under the pretense that she wanted to check on her but Mia would always drive her away with hurtful words.

“Okay baby, so we got all the discharge procedures done so let’s goooooo we’re finally free.” Mia excitedly jolted Adrianna out of her thoughts. She smiled forcefully trying to keep up with her excitement.

Mia played around like a child trying to make Adrianna happy. She skipped around imitating different animals while they were walking out of the hospital making Adrianna laugh.
