Chapter One “Get out, slime-ball,” my wife said coldly. I climbed out of the trunk and knelt by her feet. Looking around I could see that we were in a parking lot at the back of a poorly lit building. The lot was dark. Only seven cars were parked in it. My wife pulled on my leash and started walking toward the building. I followed on hands and knees. She pushed the doorbell. “Can I help you?” asked the disembodied voice from the speaker at the rear entrance. “This is Samantha Lewis.
