HER - Chapter 10: Killing the Game, 'bout To Catch A Body (2)

Pinching my nose. “You always sweet talking to me.”

Touching her cute little button nose. “I’m just telling the truth.”

“Ahem!” Poseidon walking towards us with their brother. “Hands, how could you touch our older sister in front of us?!”

Taking my hands off from Hera immediately. “Sorry, I can’t keep my hands to myself.” feeling threatened by their aura.

“I’m Pluto.” reaching out his hand to me. “Only my family calls me Toto, until you become one of us, call me on my real name.”

“I’m Oh Jun, nice meeting you Pluto.” shaking his hand but he’s grip is getting tighter while he’s holding my hand.

“If you make Hera cry, I’m going to hunt you down, don’t tell me I didn’t warn you.” he released my hand after threatening me.

“Toto mean it, and I’m going to help him to bury you alive if you hurt Hera.” Poseidon added with a sinister smile on his face.

“I understand, that’s what I always tell with my older sister’s suitors too.” massaging my hand. “Don’t worry, I love your sister with all of my life, so I won’t do anything to hurt her.” reassuring them.

“I can vouch for him with that.” Hera clinging onto my arm. “He’s willing to sacrifice his own life for me, so be nice to him.”

“Did he saved your life by risking his own?” Pluto talking to Hera.

“Yes, he would die for me.” Hera said with conviction.

“If that’s the case then, you may call me Toto from now on, Jun-hyung.” Pluto smiling nicely at me. “I accept you as my brother-in-law.”

“You don’t have to call me hyung, Hera told me your 6 months older than me, so let’s be casual with each other.” feeling relieved.

“Ah I see.” Nodding his head. “Is this Aermacchi Harley?!!” looking at my motorbike behind me.

“Yeah, I got this last year as my birthday present from my parents and I’m asking them for a car this year. As you may have notice it’s not convenient if we got stuffs like this while riding a motorbike.” referring to the luggage that contains Hera and my change of clothes and shoes, along with the present we bought for the party later.

“Will you still use this Harley even if you have a car, cause if not I’m trading my Lamborghini to you?” Poseidon showing me his car key.

“It’s tempting but I’m keeping my Harley, I’m going to use both of my new car and this Harley.” rejecting his offer politely. “But if you want to get a Harley too, I refer you to a dealer in US, he helped me to customized mine.”

“Really??” Poseidon smiling like a kid to me. “I would love to have one as my graduation gift next year, I only need Mama’s permission.”

“Man, your Harley is dope, so I would definitely get one too!” Pluto looking around at my motorbike with astonishment.

“Where did you get the word dope, Toto?” Hera smiling at Pluto.

“Well I just heard it from my friends, it means cool, by the way.” Pluto suddenly turn quiet when she met Hera’s eyes.

“I miss you, Toto, my baby brother.” Hera hugging Pluto warmly.

“Liar, if you miss me then you would’ve visited for once but you never did.” Pluto hugging Hera back. “Why are you showing up just now??”

“That’s for you to hug me this tight.” Hera patting Pluto’s back. “You never like to have a physical contact since we were children, but now I know the feeling of being hug by my handsome baby brother.” squeezing his face as she looks at him closely.

“Where are your glasses? Put your glasses on, you can’t be this up close to anyone to see their faces clearly.” Pluto holding onto Hera’s hands.

“You’re being conscious now, hmm.” Hera teasing Pluto. “Is there someone you like at the university now, huh?”

“No one, it’s just that you’ve been gone for over a year and a half now, and our parents forbade us from meeting you after you walked away.”

“Yeah, I thought that they really cut me off but Mama showed up in front of my door early morning on her recent birthday and told me personally that I must come today.” Hera uttered with a sigh.

“So, Mama already waved her white flag to you that day.” Poseidon chuckles. “You should come home after that visit; you know Mama won’t talk to anyone who have wronged her unless she already forgave them.”

“I know, but I’m too dumb to realized that fact about our mother. Also, I forgot that it was her birthday that day and I didn’t even greet her.”

“Oh, let me guess, you were preoccupied that time and you never expect that she’ll come to you first.” Poseidon analyzing the situation.

“You got it.” Hera nodded. “I only remembered the next day, Jun knows how regretful I am that day, he’s with me.”

“Oh yeah, how can I forget? that was the first time you slept on my lap. She was craving for sweets that morning and she told us the reason in a dramatic way.” confirming to his brothers.

“That sounds like her.” Poseidon nodded.

“I definitely agree, brother.” Pluto smiles as he looks at Hera. “By the way, why don’t we get inside and tell us more about you and our sister, also we could chat a little bit about your Harley.” eyeing at my motorbike again. “I really want to have a motorbike.”

“Mr. Kim, will you take my brother-in-law’s luggage to Hera’s room.” Poseidon ordering one of the men nearby.

“Yes, Young Master Poseidon.” Mr. Kim approaching me. “May I carry it for you, sir?” asking for the luggage in my right hand.

“Thank you.” handing him the luggage. “How many people are serving your family?” looking around while asking Hera by my side.

“Ah them, they are my brothers’ men.” Hera answered. “Each of us in the 3rd generation have 8 people working for us. I used to have 8 ladies with me before who always follow me around and serve me like a princess so I don’t have to do anything but to give them orders.”

“My family’s wealth is really no match to yours.” chuckles.

“That’s all in the past, I’m doing everything on my own since last year so no need to be intimidate with my family background.” she said.

“Still I can’t ignore the fact that you belong to one of the wealthiest family in the world, Young Miss Hera Nevaeh.” teasing her as we follow her brothers inside the mansion. “I feel little standing next to you.”

“Don’t say that.” giving me a serious look. “Even if it’s just a joke don’t you ever say that again. You’re perfect, so don’t belittle yourself.”

“Sorry, I shouldn’t mind about the gap of our family’s wealth.” patting her head. “Don’t be angry with me, alright?”

“I’m not angry. I just can’t believe that you would say that.” pouting.

“I promise that I won’t say that ever again. Stop being sullen. Your brothers may have a bad impression on me if they see like this.”

“Well thanks to your Harley you’re obviously on their good side.” sighing. “Since you already met my brothers, are you ready to meet my parents? Because I’m nervous right now even though they’re mine.”

“Now that you mentioned it, I feel a bit nervous now.” holding her hand.

“Let’s just run for it, if we feel that our life is in danger.” she said.

“And you’re scaring the life out of me.” having mixed emotions.

When we arrived at the living room after a few minutes’ walk from the parking lot, I saw her parents sitting on the sofa and obviously waiting for us to come.

Hera holding my hand tightly as if she’s preparing to run any moment though I know how badly she misses them.

“Hello, Papa, Mama.” Hera anxiously greeting her parents.

“Is that all you have to say?” Hera’s mother responded. “Do you think one hello would be enough after not showing up for over a year and a half? You coldhearted girl.”

“What are you standing there for? Come, and give your mother a kiss and a hug, you, ungrateful daughter of mine.” Hera’s father said.

“Mama!” Hera come running to her mother and cry like a little child.

“This will take a while.” Pluto whispered to me.

“Come with us.” Poseidon said as he walks off first. “Let’s give them some space for their reunion, unless you want to watch their drama.”

“I’m coming with you.” following the two to the other living room.

When we settled in at the space, we got to ourselves they started interrogating me to find my intention with their sister.

I’ve done it before with my sister’s ex-lovers so I completely understand that they just want to protect their older sister.

One of their mother’s attendant called us for lunch and in the dining room, everyone’s attentions are on me.

I also met Zeus again and even if I don’t know how I wronged him before he obviously doesn’t like me.

“I’m Oh Jun, thank you for letting me join you for lunch, Uncle Cronus, Auntie Rhea.” greeting Hera’s parents before I take a seat.

“I’ve read about you in the newspaper, you’re the son of Dr. Oh Song Hyun and Dr. Oh Jong Dam.” Auntie Rhea said with a smile. “You’re from a family of great doctors that are not only known here in Korea but in America as well. Hera is lucky to have you.”

“I’m the one who’s lucky to have Hera in my life, she makes me the happiest man in the world. Thank you for giving birth to Hera, Auntie.”

“This man is quite the romantic.” Uncle Cronus chuckles as he points at me. “You boys should learn from him if you’re having a hard time pursuing a girl.” telling to his 3 sons who’s sitting on the right side of table. “But honestly, you’re making me worried, young man. I’m quite sure that you’re popular with the ladies.”

Hera laughed at me and she continues eating instead of defending me to her father.

“You think highly of me Uncle, compare to you and your sons, I only look normal so there’s nothing to worry about. I can assure you that your daughter is the only woman that I love aside from my mother and older sister, of course.” trying to lighten up the mood.

“Very well said.” Auntie Rhea nodded at me. “Some men would forget about their mothers and sisters when they fall in love.”

“You’re not going to ask for my daughter’s hand in marriage today, right?” Uncle Cronus giving me a hint.

“Not today, Uncle.” shaking my head as I smile at him. “Hera and I started dating last month, we’re taking our relationship nice and slow.”

“That’s right.” Hera uttered. “Jun is a med student and he’s currently on his 3rd year, so technically it’s not our priority yet.”

“But he’s a man and you’re already a college graduate, so I don’t have any objection if you two wants to marry this year or next.”

“You just met the man and you’re giving away your daughter easily.” Zeus speak up. “What kind of father are you?”

“A father who wants the best for his children.” Uncle Cronus answered with conviction. “Your sister found a great man to be with, can’t you be happy for her??” giving a serious look to Zeus.

“I’ll be the first one to congratulate on her wedding day.” Zeus sneers.

“I’m done with this crap!” Hestia, Hera’s youngest sibling, put down her fork and knife on the table. “If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to my room now, don’t disturb me unless necessary.” walking out from the dining room after she made a scene that makes us quiet.

“Sorry, about that, we spoiled our youngest too much.” Auntie Rhea told me. “She’s already 20 but she’s still acting like a teenage girl.”

“On top of that, she’s taking BS in Psychology at KU.” Uncle Cronus added. “I just hope that she’ll be the doctor and not the patient in the future.” continue eating his meal.

“She’s from KU? She’s my schoolmate then, I thought everyone are from YU, so there’s a Nevaeh in KU too.” nodding.

“I’m a graduating marine engineering student at National Maritime College in Yeongdo.” Poseidon raising his hand.

“I’m a 3rd year mining engineering student at SNU.” Pluto appealed.

“I see, it is true then that the Nevaeh are family of engineers.”

“There’s a lot of fields in engineering, and I think we’re taking all of them. Even the husband of my niece, Zeus Latona, he’s a graduating electrical engineering student at SKKU. Also, my son-in-law, Zeus Ceres, a graduating geodetic engineering student at Ohio State University.” Uncle Cronus explained.

“Did I hear you right? son-in-law?!!” Hera exclaimed.

“Yeah, you missed your sister’s civil wedding.” Auntie Rhea responded. “Which happened a day after her recent birthday, also at the same day she gave birth to your niece. Fortunately, the child waited for the wedding ceremony to end before she came out to the world.”

“Oh my God! I can’t believe I missed such important events on Ter’s life.” Hera said in dismay. “Where is she right now? Is she in Ohio with her husband? When is she coming back here?”

“Ter is currently living at the North Mansion along with Persephone, as requested by Father. Only her husband is in Ohio until his graduation or he gets his licensed as geodetic engineer, we’re not sure about their arrangement.” Auntie Rhea answered. “But they’ll have their church wedding early next year, that’s when we’re going to introduced my granddaughter to the public.” looking at Uncle Cronus.

“You’ll meet your brother-in-law tonight.” Uncle Cronus turn to Hera. “He’s currently in the plane right now that will arrive at the airport later before sunset. Father will formally introduce him as a new member of our family.”

“Well before the father, I want to see the mother and the child first.” Hera replied with an excited reaction on her face. “You’re coming with me.” turn to me. “I’ll introduce you to Lolo Uranus too.”

After having lunch with her family, we went to the North Mansion to meet her sister and niece, also the legendary Uranus Nevaeh.

“It’s an honor to meet you in person, Mr. Nevaeh.” shaking Hera’s grandfather’s hand. “I can’t believe I’m shaking your hand right now.”

“He’s a big fan of yours, Lolo.” Hera patting my back.

“I can see his eyes sparkling at me, hahaha.” he said. “Please don’t call me Mr. Nevaeh, there’s a lot of Mr. Nevaeh in this residence, Halabeoji is fine. But when you and Hera got married, you should call me Lolo.”

“Lolo is the Filipino version of grandfather.” Hera explained to me.

“I understand, halabeoji.” releasing his hand. “I only see you in the newspaper and magazines. I read every article about you and your great contribution to aeronautical industry.”

“Are you an aeronautical engineer too?” he asked with a big smile.

“No, I’m actually a 3rd year student in college of medicine at KU.”

“A future doctor, huh?” he nodded although his smile faded away

“Yes, Halabeoji, I’m Dr. Oh Jong Dam and Dr. Song Hyun son.”

“Ahh … so you’re the genius son they’re talking about.” his smile comes back again. “Your parents are my doctors, and your hospital is where everyone in our family having their annual checkups.”

“Thank you for doing business with my family, Halabeoji.” bowing my head to him. “I should’ve come to your party regularly like my parents.”

“I completely understand why a youngster like you wouldn’t want to come to such party. But now you’re attending because of my beautiful granddaughter, aren’t you?” he sees right through me.

“I’ll be her permanent partner from now on.” looking at Hera.

“You must marry her first in order to secure that position. You can’t just claim it without an evidence.” tapping my shoulder. “College students are welcome to apply as a new member in our family.”
