HER - Chapter 13: Keep Dodging Bullets in The Bedroom (2of2)

“Can we meet each other tomorrow before you go to work??” reluctant to leave me behind.

“I’m staying here until late morning so I don’t think we can. Let’s just see each other on Monday night next week.” looking at his expression.

“Haist … another 6 long days until I can get to see you.” sighing. “I think we need to amend the rules that we set; we’re engaged now.”

“No, the days are fixed.” turning him around. “We’ll be together for the rest of our lives anyway after we got married, so be patient for now and be wait for that day to come.” pushing him to go.

“Why did I ever get a 6 years course in college? I should be graduating on my 4th year but I got additional 2 years.” whining as he goes.

I watched him drove off with his parents before I went inside the house, but I didn’t know that Zeus was waiting for me.

“4 years engagement, many things can happen within those years.” Zeus giving me a cold look. “There’s a high a probability that you two will break up, and I’ll be there to watch.”

“Say what you want to say, after all you can’t do anything about it.”

“You sure about that?” sneering at me. “I think you forget who you talking to, I always have a way if I want to make a move.”

“Don’t you dare touch him.” threatening him. “I know what you’re capable of when you can’t get what you want.”

“Hera, violence is not always the answer. I can break him without committing physical attack. If you still insist with this marriage, I’ll tear him into pieces that you can’t fix.” walk right past by me.

This is the first time that I get scared of Zeus, he knows my weakness and he can use it to me anytime he likes just to get me.

I thought that we can go back being siblings again but his obsession is too much for me to take, enough for me to despise him.

I asked Mama Rhea to sleep with me that night as I couldn’t let my guard down sleeping alone in my bedroom knowing that his room is just across mine and he can be crazy when he’s mad.

I woke up in the morning and joined everyone for breakfast before my parents go to the company and Pluto and Hestia go to their universities.

“You should come back home, if you miss touring around the house.” Zeus walked up to me while I’m taking a walk.

“Shouldn’t you be at the company right now? Why are you still here?”

“I’m on a sick leave today.” following me around.

“You look fine to me.” glanced at him for a second.

“My temperature’s 38 before we had breakfast.” he responded.

“Then you should be resting on your bed and not walking around.”

“I’ll stay in bed if you take care of me, you’re a nurse, your job is taking care of people.” walking closer to me.

“Yeah I am, but I’m not your private nurse.” keeping my distance from him. “I’m leaving now, take care of yourself.” about to leave him alone when he suddenly collapsed on the floor. “Hey, if you’re acting right now then you are a great actor, so get up, that’s enough.”

I wanted to ignore him and just leave him be but his fall was too convincing for an act, so I went to check up on him.

“Oh my gosh! You’re burning!” picking him up on the floor. “Somebody, help!” screaming until someone comes on our way. “Get him up, let’s put him in his bed.” telling to one of his men. “Since when did he have a fever??” following them to Zeus’s bedroom.

“Young Master Zeus wasn’t feeling well since yesterday but he still drank a lot at the party last night.” Byun said as he carries Zeus.

After I get the things that I need to take care of Zeus’s fever, I stayed by his side until his temperature turned to normal.

Which made me absent from work and notifying the Head nurse later because I was preoccupied of that matter at hand.

“What do you think you’re doing?!” Hestia’s loud voice woke me up.

“Tia?!” saw Hestia walking up to me. “I think I dozed off for a while.”

“I saw Zeus caressing your face while you were sleeping.” Hestia getting worked up. “He’s taking advantage of the situation.”

“Is it a crime now to touch my own sister’s face?” Zeus responded.

“Who are you trying to fool that it’s just a simple touch with no malice on it??” Hestia raising her voice to Zeus.

“How can you say that there’s a malice on it?” Zeus provoking her more.

“Do I have to say it out loud when we both know the truth??!” Hestia sneers at him. “Come on Hera, you should’ve leave him alone.” dragging me outside from Zeus’s bedroom. “Why did you take care of him??!”

“He collapsed when he’s with me so I somehow felt that he’s my responsibility. He was burning up a while ago, so as a nurse, I performed my duty. Also, he’s still our brother even if he’s a jerk.”

“But he’s an enemy, you shouldn’t have mercy on him.” she said.

“There’s no friend or foe in my line of duty, I take care of people who are in need of health care and medical attention. And Zeus needed it.”

“If I haven’t gone home this early then he must do something to you.” frowning. “Why can’t he just let go of his obsession??!”

“You’re the one who’s taking psychology here, when you find the answer please let me know too.” calming her down. “I think I still can make it for a half day.” looking at my wrist watch. “I’m going now.” running away.

It’s only 4pm and I could make it to the hospital by 5pm so I went straight to work and be on duty for 6 hours.

Few days later and it’s Monday night again, finally seeing Jun after a long time of being busy at work.

“I heard you filed a half day leave the next day after the party.” Jun embracing me in his arms after we made love to each other.

“You’re only asking me this now?” turning my back against him. “Zeus got a fever and he collapsed while walking with me, so I took care of him.” facing at the other side of the bed.

“That brother of yours makes me nervous when he’s with you. I shouldn’t be saying this but I don’t think that he threatened me before as your brother but he warned me as a man.” pulling me back to him. “I wasn’t like that with my older sister so I can differentiate the two.”

“Just ignore him.” turning back. “He’s premature that’s why his way of thinking is quite different from everyone.”

“How can I ignore him if he’s your family?” caressing my face. “Your family is important for me too because I know how much you care about them. I accept everything about you without any exception.”

“Really? Can you really accept everything about me, even my deepest and darkest secret??” looking at him in the eyes.

“You haven’t murder anyone before, right?” looking back at me.

“Pfft!” holding back my laughter. “No, not yet, but I might in the future. Am I that worst to you? To think that I’m a murderer??”

“Well you’re scary when you’re angry and somewhat violent when you needed to.” getting on top of me. “Will you tell me that deepest and darkest secret you have?”

“Then it won’t be a secret if I tell you.” wrapping my arms around him as I spread my legs for him to get inside me.

One month later, and its already Christmas Eve but until now I still didn’t have my menstruation which supposedly to be on the first week of the month.

I’m on a night shift this December and my day off were changed from Tuesdays to Fridays, and fortunately, I don’t need to work on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve because they fall on Fridays.

Jun drove us to Jeonju as I told him that I want to spend Christmas with the children at the orphanage, though I only meant Hebe.

I was sleeping while he’s driving since I just had my night shift at work but he never complained to me and just let me take a rest.

When we arrived at the orphanage the children were having their afternoon nap so I also joined them to continue my sleep while Jun talked with the sisters for the preparation of the party tomorrow.

If not for the church’s bell I won’t woke up in the middle of the night alone in the children’s bedroom.

Everyone was in the church for the night mass, the children prepared a nativity play, while Jun helped them at the music part.

“Great job everyone!” clapping my hands for the children as we gathered outside the church after the mass. “You all deserve a treat!”

“We prepared Christmas gifts for everyone.” Jun standing between the two big boxes of presents. “This one is for the girls while this one is for the boys. I put numbers on each present so I want you all to take a look under your seats and when I call your number claim your gift.” watching the children follows his instructions.

“All the girls are on me.” standing on my post as we alternately called the numbers until we emptied the two boxes.

It was a simple feast that we shared with everyone but they made it the happiest banquet I ever had.

With all the smiles and laughter of every children, makes the Christmas Eve merrier.

“Merry Christmas!” handing to Jun my Christmas present to him.

“It’s already Christmas so I can open it now.” unwrapping the gift.

“You look good in every clothes you wear anyway, so I’m giving you a blue violet polo with dark blue jacket.” watching his reaction.

“You can be my stylist, Hera. You’re making me look a model with the clothes you’re giving me as a present.” smiling at me. “I got a gift for you too.” handing me a small box.

I opened the box and saw a bracelet in it. “Our initials are engraved on it. Is this my handcuff, for me not to get away from you?”

“Our handcuff.” showing me the same bracelet on his right wrist. “Let me put it on you.” putting the bracelet on me.

“You haven’t spent all your allowance for this month because of this right??” worried about his finances.

“Well I’m only spending a lot this week since it’s Christmas and New Year, and we’re out of town for a whole week. I’ve saved up so I won’t be empty again.” holding my hand. “Also, I’m putting my money in doing a good deed for the children, so it’s my pleasure to help.”

“Thanks to you they let me take another 1-week vacation leave after you bribed the HR for an out of the country tour.” intertwining my fingers with him. “You’re so sneaky Young Master Oh.”

“Have you decided if you’re renewing your contract or not??” glancing at me with a serious look.

“I’m not sure yet, but maybe when we come back, I’ll have my answer.”

“Hmm … we can spend a whole week together but we can’t sleep in the same bed because we’re staying here.” pouting.

“I think this is also for the best, I still don’t have my period this month, and if it goes on until the end of the week, then it could only mean one thing, that I could possibly be pregnant.” looking at his reaction. “What’s with that look??”

“I’m having mixed emotions right now upon hearing the word pregnant from you.” smiling at me. “Should we go to the hospital tomorrow to confirm your hunch before I get too excited that I’m going to be a father and your carrying my child??”

“I thought you don’t like it because of the reaction on your face, but you truly are happy to hear that I’m pregnant even if it’s not confirmed yet.” smiling back at him.

“Of course, I’ll be happy. It means we’re starting a family earlier than we planned and I don’t have to wait for 4 years to marry you because definitely we’ll get married before you gave birth to our child.” he said enthusiastically. “You’ll be my wife next year!”

“Calm down, it hasn’t been confirmed yet. So, don’t get your hopes up, I don’t want to disappoint you if it’s not true.” touching his chest.

“We really should go to the hospital tomorrow morning. The baby in you will be the best Christmas present, I’ll have this year.” touching my belly. “I wonder when did we succeeded making this child.”

“Possibly last month or early this month, I’m not sure, but we’ll find out tomorrow.” staring at his happy face.

We went to bed past midnight and woke up early the next morning along with the children then had breakfast with everyone before we headed out to the hospital.

“Are you nervous? It won’t take long to know the result.” I said to him.

“I shouldn’t have coffee earlier.” sitting restlessly beside me at the hospital’s bench while waiting for the pregnancy test result.

“Yi Hera-ssi.” Nurse calling out my Korean name. “You may come in, now. Dr. Kim will explain the result to you.” opens the door for us.

“Yi Hera-ssi.” Dr. Kim staring at me and Jun. “You two look familiar, I just don’t remember where I saw you. Anyway, take a seat.”

“Is my fiancée pregnant??” Jun said hurriedly as soon as he takes his seat. “Sorry, I’m juts excited to hear the result.”

“I suggest that you two take a break from having an active s****l life.” Dr. Kim responded. “Your fiancée is pregnant for over 6 weeks now.”

“6 weeks??” looking at the calendar on her table. “May I borrow this for a while?” counting the days on the calendar. “Jun, that means we made it since the night you proposed to me.”

“Ah … haha … I don’t know what to say anymore. I’m so overwhelmed right now.” walking in circles. “I’m going to be a father now! It’s confirmed, I’m going to be a father now!!” stepping outside the doctor’s office. “Everyone, I’m going to be a father!!” announcing proudly.

“Your fiancé is so proud of what he achieved. Congratulations, Yi Hera-ssi, I’m pretty sure that man will be a good father to your child.” Dr. Kim reaching out her hand to me.

“I absolutely agree.” shaking her hand. “Thank you, Dr. Kim.” getting the test result from her. “Merry Christmas! I’m gonna go and calm my fiancé down.” walks off from her office. “Jun, what are you doing there?! Come over here!”

“Hera!” running towards me. “This is the best Christmas gift ever! You’re having our child inside you.” tearing in joy.

“Yes, and that means we can only sleep in bed from now on.” watching his smile fade away. “I’m pregnant so we can’t do it for a year.”

“Uh-huh.” nodding his head. “I can wait that long, what matters now is the baby inside you, our baby.”

“Mmm. I guess I have my answer now, I won’t renew the contract at JHMC. I want to focus on my prenatal care and I can’t have a proper healthcare if I’m working as a nurse, so you should provide for me.”

“Of course, you actually don’t have to work. I’m the man so I should be the one providing for our family.” touching my belly. “I have to save up more starting next week, I’ll avoid unnecessary expenses from now on.”

“Good. Shall we go now? The children are waiting for us at the orphanage.” looking at his gorgeous smile.

“Let’s go.” offering me his arm for me to hold on. “I should practice how to be a father; I’ll take some trainings.”

“You’ll get there. You’re already good with children so I know it’ll be easy for you to learn fatherhood.” clinging onto his arm.

When we arrived at the orphanage, it’s almost lunch so we help to prepare the meal for everyone.

Jun obviously taking extra care of me after he learned that I’m pregnant that he doesn’t even want me to do anything at all.

Our week vacation at the orphanage gave us a lot of memories before the year ended that gives us a start of another chapter in our lives.
