Ch 9// The legend of the crystal

"Wait, what? The crystal?"

"Yes, Aragorn crystal."

"How can it be inside me, because... because crystal is solid substance, right? I mean, are you sure it is that Arago.. or what did you sad there crystal? I mean, how even it can get in..." Kerry get silent. She remembered that moment, she thinks that she saw a yellow light - the sunlight, but now she thinks it was.. purple.

"Is that crystal purple?"

"Yes.. but why you ask?"

"And... and it... could enter the body at high speed?"

"Kerry, it doesn't work like that. Don't you understand? In this world laws of physic don't work, here they are broken. Everything is possible," he sighed. "Hey, the thing is, this crystal comes to the Earth just once in five hundred years. Demons always have wanted this crystal, to get it in their hands. Even top demons. Sometimes this crystal enchant even Light Keepers, because of it tremendous power. There is a legend of this crystal. IN the beginning when the crystal second time enter the Earth, one of the Light Keeper signed agreement with one of top demon. They agreed to split the crystal and each take one half of it. They divided it. Both became immortal. But as demons always are bad at dividing things, demon wanted it all. He pretended to be talking with the same Keeper about another global problem. He from behind stabbed him with Hinton's sword. He hoped that this sword will help and be able to remove the crystal force from the Keeper. That sword is one of the hardest, powerful and of course one of the magical swords whole universe. There is just two of them. Other is called Perilla's sword. They cannot be destroyed. One belong the Light, one - the Darkness. If it is injected into someone, then all the energy is removed from the body, if the guardian angel or the Keeper is injected, then the soul goes with the energy, it is impossible to recover, at least it is still unknown how. When demon stabbed the Keeper, they both disappear, and also with the Hinton's sword. No one knows where the sword is or they. Is known that these two swords and the crystal are from one material - Aragorn crystalline rock. They are connected. Owning a crystal can control one of these swords completely. It depends on which side you belong to.This rock no longer exists anywhere, so these three things are the strongest in the universe. But... there is some talkings that this crystal no longer enters only one whole on Earth. Because when that Keeper and demon signed the agreement, they split the crystal. And every time when crystal enters the Earth, it gets here in two parts now. So there is a possibility that you have only a part of this crystal, and the other half - somewhere else. It must also be said that these swords do not belong to anyone. They choose the owner themselves and show up whenever they want. One serves us, the other them - demons. Everyone talks about that Hinton's sword has returned to the underground. And the crystal has reached Earth, more precisely, it's in you, at least one part. What are the danger? How to tell you, now everyone will want to get this crystal to be able to control one of the swords. Not only demons could try... even from the bright side. And the only way to get a crystal is by killing you."

Kerry was kinda shocked. She was silent. She couldn't talk, she didn't know what to say. Girl wanted all this to end. Kerry was caught before she fell completely, James caught her. Forcing her closer to him, he said quietly:

"Sorry. You should know that it is almost impossible to kill you now."

“What that suppose to mean?” looking into James's eyes, the girl asked.

"I don't want to scare you, but I want to say that you are immortal. Remember, I said that the Keeper and the demon became immortal. You also have half of this crystal. You are immortal too, Kerry! It is impossible to kill you with ordinary weapons and spells.

"But if I can't be killed, why am I in danger?"

"However, there is one way - one of the swords. Many do not know this, so they will try to kill you by the usual ways. You could be completely invincible if you had the whole crystal. For now, you can rest easy, only I know for a moment that you have a crystal, but I should tell the Teacher about it now, who will pass it on to the Keepers. We need to understand what to do next."

"Wait. How do you know so much about it?"

"Don't forget, I'm older than I look. My soul and knowledge are thousands of years old, only the body itself, the current thinking and feelings are mine."

"Got it. You also said that when the demon stabbed the Keeper's back, they faded. And if someone hurt me with one of the swords, does that mean ... it means if I'm killed with one of those swords, will I and the killer fade away?"

"I do not know. Nobody knows. Some says that they got into another dimension or at least a parallel world. Some is also saying that when these things connects, they destroy each other. No one is sure. But for now, you have nothing to worry about."

"Nothing to worry about? You're kidding! Half a crystal, which is one of the strongest things in the universe is in me, and you telling me I have nothing to worry about? How can I live peacefully now, knowing all this? If a demon suddenly appears from somewhere, what should I do?"

"Kerry... Kerry, calm down. Sorry, I forgot that you will not be able to perceive everything so calmly."

"No, it is alright, I am... I am calm," Kerry was really trying to be like that, "please tell me how to get it out!?"

"Kerry, it's impossible to get it out! It is ingrained in you, in your body, in your blood, in your bones, in your skin, in your scent, everywhere! It's part of you now."

It was it, Kerry couldn't take it anymore, and she fell. Again. And the moment before the girl fell on the ground, James caught her, again. Now they sat in the wet grass, leaning against each other. Closing her eyes, she pressed against the boy's strong, warm and secure body. There was a hot tear over her cheek. The guy was surprised by such a turn that the girl approached so close. He felt the girl trembling and confused. Not knowing what to do, James placed his hand on Kerry's shoulder, trying to comfort her. The girl pressed at him even tighter, she didn't know why. She felt a sense of security near the boy, she tried to calm down and relax a bit. 

"You can look at it from the bright side. You are immortal now" the guy didn't know what else to say.

"Immortal? Who needs that immortality if everyone around ever dies. I don't need it, it's lonely, because life would continue, but the pain would remain," the girl, tilting her head, said.

The guy thought she was right. He did not answer. They continued to sit, Kerry pressed to James, and he stroking her shoulder. So they both squatted for a while, doing nothing, silence surrounded them from all sides and partially comforted them.

"Why me?" she whispered.

He stepped back a little, the guy looked into Kerry's eyes. He thought for a moment, choosing the right words, and said:

"I can't answer. Honestly, I don't know, I don't understand it myself. Probably it wasn't an accident, maybe there was a reason for that."

He placed his firm hands on the girl's shoulders and, looking into the girl's eyes, continued:

"But I promise to find out the reason. I will protect you. From now on, I'll always be by your side when needed.” James smiled for a moment, but then Kerry heard the approaching footsteps from the corner of the house and turned around.

“Kerry, is that you?” Edwin asked, appearing from the corner.

Seeing the boy, the girl turned back, but James was already gone.

"What are you so early up? Besides, out here!"

"Well... I didn't want to wake you all. I wanted to take a walk, to feel the brightness of the morning," the girl smiled, slowly rising up.

"All right," Edwin shrugged.

"Anyone else awake?"

"No."

"Then maybe we could go in and make some breakfast before the others wake up, okey?"

"Good idea!" the guy said that already with a smile.

 They were going in the direction of the entrance.
