Chapter 1: The dream visit
In the middle of the darkness Luna couldn't see or hear anything. A voice that belonged to a stranger, she heard it. It was quiet and soft sounded as it was carried by the wind. The voice that sounded familiar yet unknown rang through out the darkness. Luna fumbled and stumbled upon her way as she tried to hear the words being said, but she still couldn't hear properly.
The dark abyss created an eerie atmosphere around her. She tried to think who the voice belonged to, where she was? and how she had gotten to this kind of place. As she kept on. battling with her own thoughts. The voice came through as if cutting through the thick darkness that seemed to have no end. "Come, come, come my child, mommy is calling you. Come," it said. This time it was clearer stronger and a bit loud.
"That voice, could it be," she paused, telling herself it was impossible. She knew that voice too well, the voice of that person she thought she'll never see again in her life. That voice belonged to her mother (Clara Morales). Trying to stop the tears forming on her eyes from falling, she sniffed and calmly composed herself.
Then the bad thought started pouring in. What if it wasn't her, what would she do. It felt like a dream too good to be true. If it was really a dream wouldn't that when she woke up in the morning the next day she'll be gone. Without as much as thinking Luna bolted off into the darkness, her feet guided her through it. She knew that even if it was just a dream she wouldn't lose a second to be with her mother.
Tired and breathless she stumbled over something in the darkness and fell, rolling on the ground a couple of times before stopping. She groaned feeling her body ache a bit. "Baby were are you come to mom, mom's waiting for you" the voice sounded again. As if it was some kind of motivation to Luna, she ignored the pain and sprang to her feet.
"Mom is that you," she asked. Her voice shacking and feels with uncertainty. She then started walking in the direction of the voice. With her heart beating too fast you could hear it clearly, breathe shaky, legs unsteady, she walked through the darkness as if she knew the way. Hearing silence, "Mom I'm coming," she said as if to reassure herself. She continued walking, from the what seemed like an opening came a small light.
She moved towards it, upon closer inspection. She discovered that it was a cave opening with light inside creating a great contrast from the darkness. Her legs led her all the way as she walked like a lifeless doll. As she enters it she can't help but blink her eyes a couple times.
The cave is dimly lit with glow worms radiating the entire cave. In the middle of the cave there is a small stream with all little animal playing around it. A lady is sitting there seemingly unbothered as she plays with the squirrels. Her skin seems to glow under the light. Her red hair sparkled as she cascades down her shoulders to her waist.
She is wearing a beautiful knee-length blue dress. Luna walks towards her with caution in her eyes. Upon hearing footsteps the woman turns to face her. "Come baby, mommy's here," she says with a weak sad smile and her arms wide open. Luna's shock is visible in every inch of her muscles. Her jaw drops and her eyes open too wide they might pop at any second. The shock was inescapable even though she had known the voice belonged to her mother.
Without thinking she runs into the arms of the lady (Clara). "Mom," she cries out. Then she starts crying uncontrollably in her mother's arms.
Her mother, Clara Morales, had died in a car accident two years ago. Luna tried to move on but failed more time than needed. On most nights she would curl up in her bed and cry herself to sleep. Her mother's death left a deep scar that refused to scab thoroughly. She tried to forget, but the pain always hit harder. She had even though to go through therapy but she didn't have that kind of money to finish the whole course of treatment.
She wailed in her mother's arms like a baby, refusing to stop. "Don't cry baby, mommy's here," she said softly while patting her head softly trying to sooth her raging emotions.
