I woke up to the sound of a knife scraping against another. The sound continued relentless.
I tried to sit up straight but realized immediately that my hands and feet were tied. Then I remembered where I was. The dungeon.
I struggled to cut the ropes but they did not loose. I was about to fix my teeth to it when I heard a deep guttural voice from somewhere in the room.
“You’re awake. Good. We shall continue from where we stopped yesterday.”
The room was poorly lit so I could not see clearly the person that spoke. But the tall ruthless looking figure with a threatening physique was already walking towards me.
I had recognized the voice. It was familiar but unfriendly. It was that of Alpha Kane.
He held two short curved blades and sharpened them as he walked towards me. They made the most terrifying sounds.
My heart began to race faster, fear’s grip tightened around my entire body and squeezed out a plea from the depths of despair.
“Please! Please Alpha! No, don’t harm me, it won’t happen again”
“Shhh. First you insult me by countering my words in the counsel meeting, then you violate my orders and attempt to flee the pack, you fight my enforcers, and now you plead for mercy.”
“ The only mercy I will show to you Odessa Flynn is keeping you alive and believe me when I am done with you, you will wish you were dead”
As he spoke he came closer till he was standing with me. Gently, he rubbed the blades on my cheeks, and swirled them across my neck then to my chest.
In a swift motion, the Alpha swung the blade and it glided through my thighs, leaving blood and a vertical opening on the surface of my skin. Drops of blood now trickled down my lap.
The pain was unbearable. I barely held back a wail. I cried my eyes out.
“You are also lucky that my wolf does not hold grudges for long, you would have been meat for the rest of the pack by now.”
“I’d rather be.” I said in a voice slightly above a whisper.
“What did you say?”
I refused to give a response.
“ARE YOU DEAF? I ASKED-WHAT DID YOU SAY?” His voice thundered in the short narrow hall.
“Nothing, Alpha.”
“Hmm… you lie to me.”
Suddenly, one of the Alpha’s enforcers bolted through the doors of the dungeon and whispered into the ears of the Alpha. I couldn’t tell the words he spoke, but I knew it would steal the Alpha’s attention.
“I will be back to finish what I started. You be a good girl till I return - or else.” He left the room with his incomplete warning hanging in the air.
Sometimes it’s hard for me to imagine that this man could ever survive in a relationship. I have never seen him in any before… that shouldn’t be my thought right now.
This is what I suffer for trying to escape from this prison of torture. For me there seemed to be no hope of a day brighter than this barely lit room I am in.
“Odessa, You will die sooner than you think if you feel we can continue living like this” This was Aria, my wolf.
How could she say that? She was the one that pushed me into making an attempt to flee from the pack. She got me into this and now she is foretelling my death.
“Be quiet! You’re the cause of all this evil around me. You’re the root of all my problems. Your defiance is the reason for all these chaos”
“Odessa, are you really blaming me for trying to free you from the heavy hands of this evil Alpha? I thought I was doing the right thing for you.”
“The next time it crosses your mind to do something right, accept your place as the wolf of an omega and live with it”
“Say what you want but I believe you’re more than this. We’re more than this. Maybe you’re not but I am sick and tired of living like this. You feel you’re the one who is hurt the most but have you seen me.”
She was right. I couldn’t blame her for wanting her freedom. Life as an omega has been sickening. I’d rather die fighting than live on my knees.
What we needed now was a smarter plan. One that did not involve try to run past groups of the king’s enforcers.
“Psst, psst” A voice called from a corner.
“Who is that?”
“ Over here.” the person seemed to gesture but I couldn’t find. It was a slightly dark room.
“I can’t see you.”
All of sudden, a person covered in a thick black cloth came up from behind me, cut the ropes that bound me but stopped having noticed I was naked.
“Take this.” She offered me the piece of clothe she used to cover her shoulders and face. I could see her face but I couldn’t tell who she was but the feminine in the voice was unmistakable so I knew instantly she was a lady.
The cloth was surprisingly long and covered enough portion of my body.
“Come with me. We don’t have much time.” She said when she had cut all the ropes loose.
“Who are you. I am not leaving.” I said struggling to break free from the tightness of her grip.
“Just follow me. I was sent by the enchanter. And believe me you do not want to be here when the Alpha returns.”
I was already convinced by the thought of that and so I followed the lady.
