CHAPTER ONE
Felix is a 25-year-old man who has just graduated and has been looking for a job but nothing he has done has worked out for him. Today he had an important interview for a famous hotel in town and Maggie, his friend, had asked him to apply,'hey where are you-it's almost your turn to get interviewed. I needed you here like five minutes ago.' Maggie had called him to find out his whereabouts just as he had stepped foot in the elevator.'I just got here. The traffic is hell out there today.' 'oh thank god I thought you were gonna bail on me just like you've done the past three months', ' I need the job. I can't pass this up.'' Felix was running out of money and needed to pay for his mom's hospital bill and his rent was due.He hung up the phone and fixed himself and got ready for the interview, 'so how did it go. I really hope you get the job. I need you here with me. Everyone here is either mean or a total workaholic who doesn't know what fun is.'' Felix looked around and noticed that most of the employees were people in their 40s, 'no s**t you're basically the youngest here. I need the bathroom.' Felix went to the bathroom and he was not paying attention to where he was going as the thoughts of his mom flooded his brain. She had been sick for two years and nothing they had done had worked for her. His dad left about three months ago as he could not stand having a sick wife all the time. His words had hurt more than anything she had ever had to go through. He just used her sickness as an excuse to leave them both for a young woman who was almost as young as Felix. He didn't see the person that was walking towards him. He would've run right into him had he not seen his shoes come into view and quickly stepped aside. Felix had rushed to the hospital to see his mom before he had gone home and she did not look well. Her health was deteriorating every day and there was nothing they could do to save her life. As soon as he got home, he cried his eyes out, his mom, his support system was slowly slipping away from him and there was nothing he could do to save her, nothing at all. The next morning, Felix woke up and had the feeling it was going to be a bad day for him and he was right. The hospital called as soon as he had stepped out of the shower to inform him of his mom's passing. He got his ashes cremated as she had asked of him. He sat on his bed for hours trying to understand it. His precious mom was nomore she was gone forever. His friend Maggie tried to comfort him but he had asked her to leave as he wanted to be alone. Two days after his mom passed the hotel, called to let him know he had got the job and to report to work the next day. When he got to the hotel, they had told him that although he had applied to work as a receptionist, he had been hired as the boss's personal assistant. He thought it was his lucky day until he walked into his new boss's office and came face to face with Chris his high school love interest. He froze in his steps and thought about why destiny had to bring them back together again. He thought the universe must have hated him for putting him in this type of situation.Chris looked up and asked Felix to sit down. Chris was happy he finally got to have a second chance to rewrite all the wrong he had done to Felix during their high schooldays. His heart was beating rather quickly and he was waiting to see how Felix would react to seeing him again after so many years. He released a heavy breath when Felix seemed relaxed and composed.Chris looked at Felix and thought his was just as cute as he used to be back in high school Felix had not changed much and Chris still finds him just as cute, Felix cleared his throat to get Chris's attention and Chris smiled and asked Felix how he was feeling Felix looked up at Chris's face and stared at him he didn't realize had started crying until Chris asked him why he was crying all of the a sudden, Felix wiped his tears away and told Chris that his quostion caught him off guard and explained he had just lost his mom. Chris sympathized with him and asked him he was able to go on with work and Felix smiled thanked him and told him work would be a great distraction at the moment. Felix kept wondering why everyone had said he was unbearable to work with he seemed to be the opposite of how Maggie described him, but then again, Maggie had never seen the boss before. The thought brought a smile to his face as he imagined Maggie losing her s**t as soon as he told her who her boss actually was. He quickly hid his smile when Chris looked up and asked him if he had understood what exactly he was required to do. He quickly answered and went to sit at his desk right outside Chris's office and got to work trying to catch up on where the last assistant left off and familiarised himself with work that he had to do to avoid making mistakes. It took him a whole week to get caught up and settled in at work. He didn't have much work to begin with but the following week was going to be hard on him since he had to accompany Chris to his meeting. They had yet to talk about high school days.
