I was chosen by the strongest alpha in the pack.

I was marked as his mate, bound by a bond that was supposed to last forever.

But when the moon was full and the pack watched, he rejected me publicly, brutally, without a single word of explanation.

They said I was worthless.

They said I wasn’t his.

They said I was nothing.

So I ran.

Years later, I return stronger, determined to prove them wrong… and to reclaim the life that was stolen from me.

But fate has other plans.

The alpha who rejected me is now forced to face the consequences of his choice and the bond he tried to break is screaming for me like never before.

He wants me back.

But I’m no longer the weak girl he discarded.

Now, I’m the woman who can either destroy him… or make him beg for the one thing he never deserved to lose.

Chapter One: Claimed Under the Moon
‎The moon chose me the night my life ended. ‎ ‎I remember the drums first. ‎ ‎Deep. Heavy. Echoing through the Nightfang territory like a heartbeat that didn’t belong to me. Wolves gathered beneath the open sky, their voices low with anticipation, eyes shining with hunger and excitement. ‎ ‎Tonight was the claiming ceremony. ‎ ‎Tonight, the Alpha would take his mate. ‎ ‎I stood at the edge of the clearing, my fingers clenched tightly around the hem of my dress, my pulse racing in my ears. I wasn’t supposed to be nervous. Every she wolf dreamed of this moment. Of being chosen. Of being claimed by the strongest Alpha the pack had ever known. ‎Kael. ‎ ‎The name alone carried weight ‎ ‎Power. ‎ ‎Fear. ‎ ‎He stood near the sacred stone, tall and commanding, his presence silencing the pack without a word. Dark hair brushed his shoulders, and his golden eyes reflected the moonlight like molten fire. Warriors bowed their heads when he passed. Elders watched him with reverence. ‎ ‎And yet, when his gaze swept across the clearing, it stopped on me. ‎ ‎My breath caught. ‎ ‎The world narrowed to that single moment. ‎ ‎The pull slammed into my chest so hard I staggered. ‎ ‎The bond. ‎ ‎Sharp. Sudden. Unmistakable. ‎ ‎Gasps rippled through the pack. ‎ ‎Whispers followed. ‎ ‎“She’s the one.” ‎ ‎“The moon chose her.” ‎ ‎“The Alpha’s mate.” ‎ ‎My legs felt weak as Kael approached. ‎ ‎ Each step he took made the bond tighten, tugging me toward him like gravity itself had shifted. I couldn’t look away. I couldn’t breathe properly. ‎ ‎He stopped in front of me. ‎ ‎Up close, he was terrifying. ‎ ‎Beautiful. ‎ ‎Unreachable. ‎ ‎“Elara,” he said. ‎ ‎Just my name and the bond flared violently, heat flooding my veins. My wolf howled in recognition, in desperate need, in awe. ‎ ‎The elders nodded. ‎ ‎The drums slowed. ‎ ‎The ceremony had begun. ‎ ‎Kael reached for me, his hand firm around my wrist as he pulled me closer. I trembled, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure everyone could hear it. ‎ ‎“This bond is sacred,” the elder intoned. “Chosen by the moon. Bound by blood. Broken only by death or rejection.” ‎ ‎The word rejection barely registered then. ‎ ‎Because Kael leaned down. ‎ ‎And he bit me. ‎ ‎Pain exploded at the base of my neck, sharp, burning, consuming and then warmth followed, rushing through me like fire and light intertwined. The bond snapped into place, roaring to life, wrapping around my heart and soul. ‎ ‎The pack bowed. ‎ ‎Cheers erupted. ‎ ‎I was marked. ‎ ‎I was claimed. ‎ ‎I was the Alpha’s mate. ‎ ‎Kael pulled me against him, his grip possessive, his scent surrounding me. For a brief, dizzying moment, I thought this was it. That this was what the stories promised. ‎ ‎Belonging. ‎ ‎Forever. ‎ ‎But Kael didn’t kiss me. ‎ ‎He didn’t whisper my name again. ‎ ‎His arms loosened almost immediately. ‎ ‎The warmth faded. ‎ ‎The bond… quieted. ‎ ‎I looked up at him, confusion tightening my chest. ‎ ‎His face was unreadable. ‎ ‎The drums stopped. ‎ ‎The elders waited. ‎ ‎Tradition demanded the Alpha speak. To acknowledge his mate. To seal the bond before the pack. ‎ ‎Kael turned to face them. ‎ ‎His voice cut through the night. ‎ ‎“I reject her.” ‎ ‎The world shattered. ‎ ‎Gasps turned into shocked murmurs. The elders stiffened. Wolves stared at me with disbelief, then pity, then judgment. ‎ ‎“I reject Elara as my mate,” Kael continued, his voice cold, unyielding. “She will not stand beside me as Luna. She is not my future.” ‎ ‎My legs buckled. ‎ ‎The bond screamed. ‎ ‎Pain tore through my chest, ripping something deep inside me as if claws were shredding my heart from within. I tasted blood as I bit down on a cry. ‎ ‎“Why?” someone whispered. ‎ ‎Kael didn’t answer. ‎ ‎He didn’t look at me. ‎ ‎The elder stepped forward, alarm in his eyes. “Alpha, this bond” ‎ ‎“I know what I’m doing,” Kael snapped. ‎ ‎His gaze finally met mine. ‎ ‎And there was nothing there. ‎ ‎No regret. ‎ ‎No apology. ‎ ‎No explanation. ‎ ‎Just finality. ‎ ‎The pack watched as I fell to my knees beneath the full moon, my body shaking, my wolf whimpering in agony. Whispers turned cruel. ‎ ‎“She’s weak.” ‎ ‎“She wasn’t worthy.” ‎ ‎“How embarrassing.” ‎ ‎I couldn’t breathe. ‎ ‎I couldn’t think. ‎ ‎The bond burned, not broken, just twisted, stretched, wrong. ‎ ‎Kael turned his back on me. ‎ ‎Just like that. ‎ ‎The strongest Alpha in the pack walked away, leaving me marked, bound, and discarded in front of everyone. ‎ ‎That was the night I learned something the stories never warned us about. ‎ ‎Being chosen by the moon doesn’t mean you’ll be loved. ‎ ‎And being claimed doesn’t mean you’ll be wanted. ‎ ‎As the pack slowly dispersed, I stayed where I was, staring up at the moon that had betrayed me. ‎ ‎I didn’t know it yet. ‎ ‎But this was only the beginning of my suffering. ‎ ‎And one day… ‎ ‎It would be the beginning of Kael’s regret.
