Twenty-Three Ridge I didn’t run. Instead, I turned on the charm and sat down to dinner with Karrie and her parents. Parents loved me, so I wasn’t worried about that. No, the worry was that this was too soon. Yes, I realized I’d be taking Karrie home to meet my mom in a few short weeks, but it wasn’t at all the same. I didn’t care what my parents thought about me, my life, or who I was dating. Karrie, on the other hand, loved her family and took their thoughts and opinions into account.
