Chapter 02

AMANDA “ Did you hear about what happened?” “ Colt is so pissed. That girl is so dead.” “ Well, she just punched one of the kings of the Crescent High–” I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. Moon goddess, what do I do? My heart is about to burst inside my chest while avoiding the group of crowds in the hallway. I can hear them chattering about what happened earlier and they are saying the same thing. I sunk down in my seat and wished the class would end soon. I managed to attend my classes for the whole day without them finding where I was. “ Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.” I slapped my forehead repeatedly, not minding the others. Why did I even do that? I’ve been muttering that repeatedly all over my head for the last two hours that I’ve been avoiding everyone. I promised myself a fresh start but on the very f*****g first day I found trouble. Again. I am supposed to pretend to be weak. An outcast who wore ugly outfits and those stupid eyeglasses. That’s the condition my mother has set for me to bury our past. My past. Crescent High School. When my mother told me we were going into this place, I didn’t realize she meant that. A town of werewolves with weird teenage dramas. My mind goes back to what happened earlier, and a chill immediately runs down my spine. Weird. I didn’t even know such things really existed. Who the f**k are they though? The men that I have encountered earlier look like something. “ Relax Amanda,” I murmured to myself, taking a breath. It’s not like we can afford to be kicked out of another pack again. That is ridiculous. Sometimes, it makes me feel like I just need to hush my demons, so I won’t mess anything up. The moon goddess was already having fun making my life miserable and I didn’t need to mess it up either. I took a deep breath through my nose and tried to ease my mind when everyone instantly went silent. I opened my eyes only to see him. He stood tall in the door with his shoulders terrifyingly tense. I sucked in a breath and quickly gazed down into the ground. He’s the one who kissed me! His thick lips and sculpted jaw almost make him look like a statue of a gorgeous man I make only in museums. He’s lean but has all the muscles. I gulped because I can still feel his lips smashing into mine. I heard my heart beat fast and in one swift movement, my eyes went wild when I heard the door creaking. He entered the room and no one dared to say a word. “L-Luther–” a girl manages to say his name and I pretend to not exist. My body felt like it was on fire, like the force pulling us earlier rekindled the fire. I could hear him walking further down the room when I saw him stop when he reached my desk. I forcefully closed my eyes, wishing this was just a f*****g nightmare. “ Amanda,” he said in a cold voice. Shit. I parted my lips, my head falling back slightly at his effect on me. Something happened when he crushed his lips into mine earlier like a magnetic force trying to pull us back. We stood there staring at each other for the longest moment. Then, he curled his lips into a smirk and looked at the others who were watching us. That’s when I glanced up at him through my fearful gaze and swallowed hard. Everyone was staring at me—some were looking at me like they wanted me dead. “ Y-Yes, s-sir?” “ Come with me.” Without another word, he walked out of the door and checked if I was walking behind him. It took me so much strength to take a single step especially when he looks dangerous as hell. I’m thinking about running away but Luther stepped closer to me, his eyes giving me a warning shot. “ Keep walking. Or I’ll kill you here with my bare hands.” My breath caught in my throat, and I vaguely nodded my head, feeling really threatened by his words. I didn’t know how long we would keep on walking. I had my eyes on the ground for what felt like hours when he suddenly stopped at the same abandoned building and pushed the door open, revealing what looked like a…bachelor pad? “ You found her?” My eyes widened, and I sucked breath. Damn it, Luther. I didn’t realize there were three other men in the room. I tried to run through the door to escape but Colt, the one I punched earlier, snatched my arm, grasped my chin and pulled me up. “ Huh! Where do you think you’re going, you b***h?!” “ Please don’t kill me–” I gazed up at him through my lashes. I normally don’t beg for my life but these people–these men, look equally dangerous. “ I didn’t mean what I did earlier! I promise. I didn’t mean to punch you that hard!” Colt growled, his eyes shifting from a soft expression to anger. He pinned me harder, and I could see his canines emerging under his lips. “ You stupid little—” “ Colt.” Colt tensed, his gaze ran over me, then to Luther, who now found himself sitting on the couch next to two other men. I felt like I was a prey in this place and everyone was a predator. “ Be gentle with our lady.” Colt cleared his throat, pushing me to the floor. “ Are you f*****g serious right now, Luther? Look at her! She’s a f*****g nerd!” I snapped my head in his direction. My nostrils flared, and I wanted to throw another punch again when I heard the coldest laughter fill the room. All of our gazes landed on Luther, who was smiling to himself while pouring a glass of alcohol. I didn’t even know that was allowed in a school. He took the shot into his mouth and stared right into me. “ What do you think, Blaze?” Luther asked the man at his side. He was the first one I met earlier before the disaster happened. “ She looks like someone, right?” Blaze growled slowly, glaring at him, then turned back to me. “What’s your name, pup?” I pushed myself off the ground and turned back to Blaze. “ Amanda—please. Whatever it is, leave me alone. I don’t want to be your lady–” “ Are you sure about that?” I shifted slightly, all tense because at first, they were all staring at me. Second, Luther just pulled out a single envelope somewhere and lay some horrifying pictures I knew I had already buried in the past. Fuck. I squeezed my eyes and forced myself to gulp the lump in my throat when I saw pictures and documents about myself proving what happened in our last pack. I stared, eyes widened at the photographs. “ H-How did you–” Luther chuckled. “ I knew something about you the moment I saw you earlier. You don’t have a choice now, Amanda, or should I call you Selene, like your former identity?” I swore under my breath, trying to keep my mind clear. It took me everything to bury my past and yet, it looks like it still finds its way to my life. Luther was watching my every expression and he was enjoying this. “ You are an outcast in your old pack because you’re a slut who f**k the alpha’s son. You and your mother are kicked out of the pack because your father turned out to be a rogue slaughtering innocent wolves–” “ Stop…” I angrily said under my breath. Luther stood at his feet, stared down at me and grasped my chin. Tears are now flowing into my cheeks but he didn’t seem to be bothered by that. In fact, I think he loves seeing me cry as he went to wipe one of them while smirking. “ You will be our lady. Our property. Our pet. You will serve us for the rest of your life here in this high school and maybe, just maybe, you will not be an outcast and your mother will be protected by us–” “ Don’t drag my mother into this.” Luther tilted his head, lips curled into a smirk. “ Well, that can be arranged. So what do you think? Be the lady of the Crescent High School, Selene. Be our lady.” I sniffed and tried to pull away from his hold, but he’s strong. “ And what if I don’t? What if I don’t want to be a lady for assholes like you?!” “ No?” Luther shoved me against the wall, snatched my chin against his hand from behind and ran his nose up to the side of my neck, sniffing my scent. “ Are you sure you want to reject my offer?” I shivered and tried to push him away, but his one hand found its way around the front of my neck, softly choking me. “ N-No..” I said breathlessly. “ I-I don’t want to be your lady.” Lie. My body reacts differently than what my mouth is saying. Luther pushed some hair behind my ear and I didn’t care that the others were watching me squirm against his touch. I am f*****g attracted to him. And it’s dangerous. “ But you want to, don’t you?” Luther chuckled lowly in my ear. “ Your body says otherwise, pup.” He released me onto the ground and just then, four men, four princes of Crescent High stared at me like I was their f*****g property. “ Let her sign the contract. That way she doesn’t have a choice but to be ours.” Luther cruelly said, then left without saying another word. Again.
